Blue Screen At Start Up After Installing Drivers
Jan 30, 2013I am experiencing problems with my computer. I'm building a new rig, but have not got it finished yet, so I'm trying to use my Compaq Presario until I have the final pieces to my new rig. I popped in my GPU and tried to boot into Windows 7 one day, after having used Ubuntu for three weeks straight, now I get a blue screen at start up, when I have the GPU in, that says I should try to reset the device display [it goes too fast for me to catch anything else].
Safe mode works, but I have no internet connection to be able to download anything that I might need. I also checked the device manager through Safe Mode and my GPU is update to date. I'll post the log files and the GPU at the end. The card was working before, so I'm not sure what happened. Here are some things I tried via online searching including this forum:
Reinstall Windows completely
Uninstall NVIDIA drivers, reboot, and reinstall
Not update GPU drivers
Switching the BIOS to my GPU slot
GPU: GeForce Sparkle 6600 LE 256mb

The other file is a dmp file and an xml file I have no idea how to open. If they are needed I saved a copy to a USB and will upload to mediafire.
Video Card Vista Start Used To Be Windows 7 Start ?
Feb 5, 2013I have a video card that used to boot up in windows 7 - but know this computer with a GeForce 9500GT video card boots up with the Vista boot up logo.I found out this was the video card because I have another card with another GeForce video.I took the swapped the video cards, and the indication changed. The original computer booted with the windows start up screen. And the test computer booted up with the vista boot up screen.
I was told by a local computer repair facility this had something to do with video drivers.I tried what the organization suggested and uninstalled all video drivers (I used generic Windows 7 Video Drivers).Then the organization recommended downloading the latest video drivers for the GeForce 9500GT.This video card has 512GBytes of memory. I did this.Then I was told to install the newly downloaded video drivers.I resrted the computer with the Vista login screen with windows 7 operating system,and the vista login screen was displayed.
Windows 7 Hangs On Start Screen And Cannot Run Start Up Repair
Nov 3, 2012My dell n5030 laptop isnt getting past the windows start up screen. It boots up fine up to the part where the four balls become the windows logo, but then freezes there everytime. When i try to select the windows start up repair it blacks out the screen and I cant do anything.
I know its not a faulty hard drive because its newly fitted and this problem occured previously on a different hard drive aswell.

Jan 11, 2011I have AVS Video Converter and what I'm trying to do is download 1920x1080 (I don't want 720p) video clips, converting them from mp4 to wmv and setting them as my desktop background. I use this converter because it is the first converter I tried that gives me lossless conversion to wmv. My screen resolution is 1280x800.I use the 1920x1080 video and leave all the settings except for aspect ratio which I set to 16:9 and the resolution to encode the video at 1280x800.When I set it as my desktop background, the video is still 1920x1080 and if you compare the original to the desktop background, the video is "protruding" from the screen, so I can't see some areas.I've tried setting windows background to center, tile and all options but still nothing.

Everything is working great in XP. After installing video drivers in windows 7, the wizards asks for restart. When i restart windows 7 hangs just after the "starting windows" logo, just at the welcome screen. It is not random, everytime it freezes at the same point. The system hangs and the display is just horizontal garbage lines and I need to hard reset the CPU. Without the video drivers, windows 7 works fine.
Things I tried:
1. Drivers from Motherboard CD/DVD.
2. Drivers from Gigabyte Website.
3. Drivers from Intel Website.
4. Changed the SATA mode to AHCI/IDE in BIOS. XP wont boot in AHCI.
5. XP shows Intel 2000 processor graphics. CPUZ tool in windows 7 shows Intel 1000-T.
Any Reason For Installing Video Drivers Before Windows Updates?
May 16, 2012I am building a new computer and have all the parts except for my video card (gtx 670 when it comes in stock...). Now, I have heard that I shouldn't do windows updates before installing the drivers for my video card. However, if I go ahead and set everything up except for my video card and let windows update do its thing - will there be any problems for me when I can finally buy my video card and install it?

May 12, 2012My wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore.When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.

Optical drive: Samsung SH-S222AB 22x DVD/CD SATA
Randomly (for example: while surfing the internet), on Windows 7, the computer crashes with a screen with blue and grey vertical stripes (or sometimes totally grey or black). Sometimes this screen "hides" a BSoD, sometimes it doesn't. The system crashes only if video drivers are installed. On Ubuntu 11.04 (64-bit) and Windows XP (32bit), even after installing the drivers, there are no crashes. From BlueScreenView, all crashes look identical.
I tried:
- 2 passes of Memtest86+: 0 issues
- Installing Windows 7 and then ONLY the video drivers: CRASH
- Installing XP 32-bit SP2 and the drivers: does not crash
- Using Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit: does not crash
- Uninstalling the drivers: does not crash
- Safe mode: does not crash (obviously)

Nov 12, 2011I have an Acer aspire 5732Z. I turn my laptop on and it shows the starting windows screen then just goes to a black screen with a cursor. I tried to do systems restore but it said that I did not have a system restore point. I cannot start in any safe mode. I have all my pictures, uni work etc., and I am terrified I've lost it all. I've only had the laptop a year.

Oct 31, 2012Recently started having an issue where once windows login screen comes up I can hear beeping coming from my case. Then once I try to login I can hear hard drive try to spin up and system will freeze every time I hear hard drive spin up (every 5-15 seconds) during login. Sometimes this persists, sometimes it goes away within a few minutes and the system runs fine but I can still hear beeping from inside the case. Other times I get either a complete lockup, a BSOD, or the computer restarts itself without any warning.
I don't have any of these issues until I install graphics drivers.
-I've tried testing memory in windows memory diagnostics w/ 4 passes it came back w/ no errors. -I tried a clean install which runs fine until I install graphics drivers(I've tried multiple different versions all have the same issue) -I tried installing a new hard drive but am still having the same issues.
I've tried to listen where the beeping is coming from but I'm having a hard time isolating it. It's fairly short, rapid and somewhat faint.

Jun 25, 2011So I just got my Crucial M4 64g SSD that I was planning on using as my boot drive with windows 7 on it and nothing else but I have ran into issues along the way. When I boot off the windows cd once the loading finishes and the blue screen comes on asking language and such it blacks out. Everything is still running but the screen goes black. Im booting of my HDD right now to still use my computer. I used the 6g Sata cable and plugged it into the 6g sata slot on the mobo I formatted the SSD and tried again but nothing worked. The first time around it wasn't working so I tried installing windows in safe mode but it was going extremely slow so I canceled. The screen then froze so I restarted. Im not sure if i messed anything up by doing this. I tried only having the SSD plugged in as well when I install but the same thing happens.
