View 2 RepliesI recently desc covered that besides VLC on my laptop all the other video player are not able to work properly (meaning,, Windows Media Player 12, Cyberlink PowerDVD12 and WMPC are able to play only the audio, but not the video, just black screen),, BUT with VLC is no problem playing any video format!! The thing is that I didn't have this problem previously,, all my video players were able to play all the same video files, which they can't now! I have the latest AMD Radeon HD video drivers installed (just after I discovered the problem).
I have previously made this trade in a "Graphic Cards" section,, I guess it was wrong so I am re-posting it here "Music, Pictures & Video"
I have a problem playing live TV using Windows Media Player. I can select different TV channels without a problem. I can hear the audio clearly. However, i can not watch anything as it displays a black screen. I originally used WinTV (version 7, with the newest updated driver and software) and works fine. For video card, I have a GTX260 with the latest version (295.73) installed. I've tried different versions of driver (259.xx to 285.xx) to no avail. When I tried setting up the TV tuner it detects the tuner as Analog Cable (tuner 1) which I assume is the WinTV tuner.

This happened to my laptop a while ago already,, since I have this problem I updated my video drivers 5 or 6 times at least, and no change so far!Why am I assuming that the cause of my problem is the graphics card driver is, for ex. when I had just re- installed my windows (fresh! from Windows 7 to Windows 8),, the video playback was working, while the graphic card was running on the drivers provided by Microsoft! as soon as I am installing the driver for my model of AMD Radeon graphic card I am staring to have the problem. As I mentioned I have the problem for some time already, during this time I re-installed my Windows couple of time, plus I even changed the version of the windows (7to8), for the moment I have the last version of video driver installed, I haven't installed ANY codecs?

Not sure what to look for on this one to narrow the field of possibilities down. I suspect a conflict in resources (interrupts, etc) but it could be something else.It is almost as if something is waking on schedule... "It's ALIVE!"He has tried an uninstall of the Logitech webcam and Skype and a "clean" re-install per Logitech's guidelines. No luck.Searched the internet. Lots of problems with Skype, et al, causing BSODs and/or system shutdowns, etc but could not find one where it was JUST the Skype video restarting while the audio remained connected and uninterrupted

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have AVS Video Converter and what I'm trying to do is download 1920x1080 (I don't want 720p) video clips, converting them from mp4 to wmv and setting them as my desktop background. I use this converter because it is the first converter I tried that gives me lossless conversion to wmv. My screen resolution is 1280x800.I use the 1920x1080 video and leave all the settings except for aspect ratio which I set to 16:9 and the resolution to encode the video at 1280x800.When I set it as my desktop background, the video is still 1920x1080 and if you compare the original to the desktop background, the video is "protruding" from the screen, so I can't see some areas.I've tried setting windows background to center, tile and all options but still nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to capture screen flow in video or image on windows 7 64 bits system, with NVidia Quadro 600 graphic card (driver is up to date). I use lib vlc for video capture, or "print screen" button for image capture. When I try to capture a fullscreen opengl application, or a QML application, or WPF application, the captured image is black. It seems that graphic card content can't be acquired. It is the same for each computer which is under windows 7. This manipulation worked on windows XP.
Question:
What are the changes on screen capturing between windows XP and windows 7?
Is there any option to activate in system?
Is there any software which could work (with an API)?
I had an OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed, and one day my windows started hanging after the windows logo (when the login screen would appear). I hadn't installed or updated any drivers. After being unable to fix the problem through restoring to a system image, startup repair, etc. I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 from a clean iso (no OEM ware). This meant I was missing some drivers. I downloaded the drivers from the Lenovo website, and after installing the video driver, the problem occurred again. The system does however work fine on Ubuntu 12.10 (Linux).
Using:
Lenovo IdeaPad Y560
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730
I'm searching and searching for a free / opensource program that can convert most video formats (MOV, WMV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 etc) to H.264 or vise versa. And with such options as data rate of 2000 / 5000 kbps but not limited to only that option.

When I first got it, it arrived without the video card so I used a temp one. The computer started crashing, so I thought it was because the video card was old. I borrowed another one from a friend and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. The same thing happened with this one. I decided to run some test so I downloaded prime95, memtest86+, and a video benchmark. Everything passed except for prime95. Memtest ran for 11 hours with no errors and prime95 crashes after a couple of minutes. I returned the motherboard because I thought it was faulty, but the same thing happens with replacement. I tried moving the memory sticks to different slots and using one and then the other. I tried installing windows 7 32bit and 64bit. I ran the diagnostic test for the cpu and everything passed. I have installed the latest updated drivers.
So if it's not the motherboard, memory, cpu, nor gpu, what could it be. Can someone please help me identify the problem(s). I don't know where the .dmp went but here is a screen shot [URL] and I will attach the PERFMON HTML file.
What is the best media player that will play all video formats?

I have recently been having problems playing standard .avi Files. I have a few .avi files sitting on my desktop, and when opened with VLC it crashes within 3-20 minutes . So I tried with Quicktime and worked fine... I thought it was just a fluke glitch.
Last night i open a new file and it plays quite choppy in Quicktime so i move over to VLC and it crashes... I tried with Windows media player and crashes in minutes as well.
Recently and all of a sudden (perhaps after using a VGS projector) when i boot my laptop i do not get any video display - not even my TOSHIBA POST or the "starting windows" screen. But when the boot gets to the login screen it dispalys on my laptop and from thereon everything is fine and normal
If i connect an external monitor or projector i can see everything right from the very beginning on the external monitor such as the TOSHIBA POST and the starting wndows etc. When the login screen appears the dispaly from the external monitor dissappears and the dispaly returns to my laptop screen after which everything is normal.
