If I am streaming a video online the screen will get fuzzy and freeze. I will then get the blue screen which will mention that there is a problem with my display driver. This has happened many times. I won't be able to do anything after that. I can't even turn off the computer. I just have to wait for the battery to die so that it will turn off.

my Toshiba laptop screen stays black, my laptop turns on but the screen stays black, I have tried many steps and none has proved, I wonder if it has to do with a cable or is the screen that needs to be replaced.

I bought a new computer with the following parts. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor ($117.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock P67 PRO3 SE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($102.55 @ Newegg) Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($41.99 @ Amazon) Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($109.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card ($249.99 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design Core 3000 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair 500W ATX12V Power Supply ($41.98 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: LG GH22NS90B DVD/CD Writer ($22.98 @ Newegg) Monitor: Acer S220HQLAbd 21.5" Monitor ($128.96 @ CompUSA) Total: $886.42 (Prices include shipping and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2012-05-12 00:22 EDT-0400)
When I first got it, it arrived without the video card so I used a temp one. The computer started crashing, so I thought it was because the video card was old. I borrowed another one from a friend and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. The same thing happened with this one. I decided to run some test so I downloaded prime95, memtest86+, and a video benchmark. Everything passed except for prime95. Memtest ran for 11 hours with no errors and prime95 crashes after a couple of minutes. I returned the motherboard because I thought it was faulty, but the same thing happens with replacement. I tried moving the memory sticks to different slots and using one and then the other. I tried installing windows 7 32bit and 64bit. I ran the diagnostic test for the cpu and everything passed. I have installed the latest updated drivers.
So if it's not the motherboard, memory, cpu, nor gpu, what could it be. Can someone please help me identify the problem(s). I don't know where the .dmp went but here is a screen shot [URL] and I will attach the PERFMON HTML file.

I have recently bought a computer and I have found that when I turn it on it runs normally until after the "Resuming Windows" screen, where everything turns off and the screen goes black. It had been running well for the last few days, so this came out of nowhere.I have searched this problem and I come up with a bunch of different solutions but no one agrees. The most common reason (apparently) is my version of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) and I need to install something or other. But I can't even get to the desktop, and no one really explains it simply. i just got over my BSOD problem by disabling crossfire on my system. It was working fine for a few days (And it still technically is), but I'm having a strange issue now. The computer turns on and loads windows fine, but the screen is black until Windows actually loads. Basically, I don't see a splash screen for the motherboard and there's no way for me to get into the BIOS.

Just got myself this (old) new computer, that I was going to use for a media center. But it randomly crashes, and i can't seem to figure out why. I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.Specs:Windows 7 Ultimate x64ATI Radeon HD 5670Intel Core i3 CPU6GB RAMPhillips TV (Connected with HDMI)

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this but, ever since I reformatted my laptop, it randomly freezes for about a second and a stuttering noise comes up. Then the screen turns black. It doesn't shut off because I could see the back light, it just turns completely black. What's causing this problem and how do I fix it? I checked the Event Logger and there are tons of errors and some critical kernal-power things.

I have this problem where my screen will turn black or turn off after a short while of playing games. I installed Windows 7 recently and then installed Borderlands and COD4. Both games run fine at lowest settings but after about 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen would just turn off and I'd have to switch the laptop off using the power button to reboot.
I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, graphic card issue, or heat related issue since my notebook fan is not working and i'm using a notebook cooler.

Just today i read a post stating that java has a bad virus. Know that i ran a malwarebites scan and it found 1 harmful item and i deleted the item. After restarting my computer from a prompt, my lenova v570 laptop now turns on with a black screen and a movable cursor right after the windows "welcome screen".
ctrl + alt + delete does not work
I have tried in safe mode and it turns on properly. So, i tried to do what others sujjested on other forums, which was to " roll back my graphics driver" after that, nothing has change.

My computer qwill freeze for a few seconds followed by system lag which seems to get worse (freezing every few seconds/taking 2 seconds to recognise a click etc.). If i reset my computer it resolves the issue but i was hoping you guys may be able to give me more insight as to what the issue may be.It nearly always happens when i am browsing in firefox. Have never had it happen to me during gaming etc. which is why i'm hesitant to believe it is to do with my GPU or it's drivers which are always kept up to date.i have included pics of the cursor and what processes were running at the time of the freeze/lag

I have a weird issue where my screen will get all light colored and just really crappy quality - blurry. I'm not sure if it is Windows, Nvidia, the HDMI cable, my monitor or what. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.
This usually happens coming out of full screen from Windows Media Center, but sometimes after a reboot.
I can turn off my tv (Sony Bravia - 52" LCD - KDL-52W4100) and turn it back on then the problem is fixed. Sometimes I can go full screen and back out again and that will fix it.
I have HDMI connection - Windows 7100 - I have the latst Nvidia drivers 186.. - I have tried a different HDMI cable also.

I have a computer I built myself a few years ago. I recently installed a new graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE).Everything works perfectly, but everything looks a little bit fuzzy.It's not a big deal, but I would like it fixed. I have tried ClearType, and unchecking "Smoothe edges of screen fonts".I also tried updating the driver, but nothing works. An interesting detail is that during the installation of the driver, everything clears up, but then it reverts.

I recently desc covered that besides VLC on my laptop all the other video player are not able to work properly (meaning,, Windows Media Player 12, Cyberlink PowerDVD12 and WMPC are able to play only the audio, but not the video, just black screen),, BUT with VLC is no problem playing any video format!! The thing is that I didn't have this problem previously,, all my video players were able to play all the same video files, which they can't now! I have the latest AMD Radeon HD video drivers installed (just after I discovered the problem).
I have previously made this trade in a "Graphic Cards" section,, I guess it was wrong so I am re-posting it here "Music, Pictures & Video"

Ever since I put Windows 7 Ultimate on (about 6 hours ago) I get a black screen after boot screen, no login appears.
Black Screen:
* No Mouse
* No Keyboard
* No Screen (Duh) Its not a "Black Screen" more of a blank screen
I have attempted many fixes:
* Update Drivers for mother board
* Update Drivers For GFX card
* Batch Files in Start up (two different ones based on display)
* Updated Bios
* Remvoing all other hard drives
Things that Have Worked:
* Runing in Safe Mode
* Disabling GFX card
* Remove GFX card Drivers
This is how i came to the conclusion that my black screen is caused by my GFX card. But i dont want to have Windows 7 installed with out it (what would be the point).
My GFX card is a "NVIDIA 9800 gtx"
NVIDIA latest Drivers i have

I have a problem playing live TV using Windows Media Player. I can select different TV channels without a problem. I can hear the audio clearly. However, i can not watch anything as it displays a black screen. I originally used WinTV (version 7, with the newest updated driver and software) and works fine. For video card, I have a GTX260 with the latest version (295.73) installed. I've tried different versions of driver (259.xx to 285.xx) to no avail. When I tried setting up the TV tuner it detects the tuner as Analog Cable (tuner 1) which I assume is the WinTV tuner.

This Dell Vostro is 2 years old, it has Windows 7 installed. When the internal wireless card is turned on, it connects alright for about 5 minutes and then the computer will BSOD or Black Screen then restart. Ethernet works fine.It has a strange behavior history.Before reformat, I ran Malwarebytes which detected malware in Adobe CS5, after clearing that up it stopped BSODing for a day of constant use. Then the wireless card stopped working at all. Windows could not even detect it for a few days. After the Windows reformat and reinstall it started working for half a day. Had the latest Dell driver installed for it.Today it BSOD's and Black screens after a few minutes. We have to turn off the radio toggle to keep it from crashing Windows.There was liquid spill about a month and a half ago. It was about an 1/4 cup of wine, attended to promptly. Within seconds of the spill it was shut down and put in front of a dehumidifier for a few days and turned upside down. It is possible it corrupted the card or card slot, but we have no other issues with the computer. I don't suspect this but it is worth mentioning. Our next step is to purchase a new card, examine for corrosion on the slot or card, but.......I have to say I still suspect a software conflict.
What has already been done:
Reformated and reinstalled Win 7
Uninstalled and reinstalled the card drivers
Updated all service packs and win updates.

I've recently upgraded to windows 7 x86, and it works great. The only problem I have is that my ati mobility radeon 3650 graphics card doesn't seem to want to work.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers several times using several different versions of the driver (win7beta, vista32, mobilitymodded, unmobilitymodded).
Whenever I try starting up with the card enabled, the screen goes blank. After reinstalling the driver, everything but the wallpaper goes away. Can anyone help?

I recently turned on my laptop for it to constantly arrive to a black screen just before I select the user login. I read some instructions on a different forum stating that I need to log in to the computer via the safe mode and un install my display driver which is Intel(R) HD Graphics, I did this which enabled me to get back onto my original login but at a price.My driver now says that it's VGA, My screen resolution has changed, every app I use crashes constantly as well as any videos/films I play they crash, skip every minute or so.Yet if I update the driver I end up back at square one, the black screen.My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742 with Windows 7.I've also tried the windows recovery which crashes.

I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit edition, not the Beta or RC. I have 3 video cards in my possession (listed below).
- (PCIe) Evga GTX260
- (PCI) Evga 9400GT
- (PCI) Evga Fx5500
Out of those 3 cards I only use the GTX260 and the 9400GT. I had to 'retire' the Fx5500 because the latest WHQL (certified) drivers only provide support as far down as the "6 series" Nvidia cards. Unfortunately the Fx5500 is a "5 series" and falls below that line. I have already tried to use the GTX260 and Fx5500 in previous versions of Windows (XP and Vista), but there is no way to download and install two separate drivers for two of the same make of video card - you'll get nothing but errors.
There is the option of going to a place like guru3d.com and downloading a custom supported driver that covers both the GTX260 and Fx5500, but the drivers are not certified and lack support. Therefore, I purchased and now use the 9400GT which is covered under the drivers for the GTX260 and eliminates the need for messing around with custom drivers. Also, the 9400GT has a better graphics processor and more memory than the Fx5500, so it was time to upgrade anyway.
