This has happened many times. I won't be able to do anything after that. I can't even turn off the computer. I just have to wait for the battery to die so that it will turn off.

Mar 8, 2012I recently bought an ASUS X54HY-SX060 laptop.
I installed Windows 7 on my own and started installing drivers. At first, I downloaded and installed drivers for ASUS x54h laptop, not x54hy because it says ASUS X54H on the sticker on the laptop.
I figured it out I was installing the wrong drivers so I installed new ones. Everything was fine, until for the last few days.
I turn on the laptop and everything is fine until the desktop shows and then my screen turns off. It's completely black. I have to restart my computer (sometimes few times) in order to work. I tried reinstalling the drivers. I completely deleted them with DriverSweeper and installed them again. I tried repairing the Windows, but the problem is still here.
I'd like to solve the problem without reinstalling the Windows (but I will do that if it's necessary). I googled the problem many times without finding anything useful.

Jun 24, 2012My computer qwill freeze for a few seconds followed by system lag which seems to get worse (freezing every few seconds/taking 2 seconds to recognise a click etc.). If i reset my computer it resolves the issue but i was hoping you guys may be able to give me more insight as to what the issue may be.It nearly always happens when i am browsing in firefox. Have never had it happen to me during gaming etc. which is why i'm hesitant to believe it is to do with my GPU or it's drivers which are always kept up to date.i have included pics of the cursor and what processes were running at the time of the freeze/lag

Jul 8, 2009I have a weird issue where my screen will get all light colored and just really crappy quality - blurry. I'm not sure if it is Windows, Nvidia, the HDMI cable, my monitor or what. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.
This usually happens coming out of full screen from Windows Media Center, but sometimes after a reboot.
I can turn off my tv (Sony Bravia - 52" LCD - KDL-52W4100) and turn it back on then the problem is fixed. Sometimes I can go full screen and back out again and that will fix it.
I have HDMI connection - Windows 7100 - I have the latst Nvidia drivers 186.. - I have tried a different HDMI cable also.
New Graphics Card Causes Fuzzy Windows 7 Experience

I recently installed a new graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE).Everything works perfectly, but everything looks a little bit fuzzy.It's not a big deal, but I would like it fixed. I have tried ClearType, and unchecking "Smoothe edges of screen fonts".I also tried updating the driver, but nothing works. An interesting detail is that during the installation of the driver, everything clears up, but then it reverts.

Sep 24, 2009I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit edition, not the Beta or RC. I have 3 video cards in my possession (listed below).
- (PCIe) Evga GTX260
- (PCI) Evga 9400GT
- (PCI) Evga Fx5500
Out of those 3 cards I only use the GTX260 and the 9400GT. I had to 'retire' the Fx5500 because the latest WHQL (certified) drivers only provide support as far down as the "6 series" Nvidia cards. Unfortunately the Fx5500 is a "5 series" and falls below that line. I have already tried to use the GTX260 and Fx5500 in previous versions of Windows (XP and Vista), but there is no way to download and install two separate drivers for two of the same make of video card - you'll get nothing but errors.
There is the option of going to a place like guru3d.com and downloading a custom supported driver that covers both the GTX260 and Fx5500, but the drivers are not certified and lack support. Therefore, I purchased and now use the 9400GT which is covered under the drivers for the GTX260 and eliminates the need for messing around with custom drivers. Also, the 9400GT has a better graphics processor and more memory than the Fx5500, so it was time to upgrade anyway.
Error Mesaage After Installing New Video Card
Dec 28, 2010I recently upgraded my video card from a 4890 to a 6970. I loaded all the drivers and stuff. Now Aero is off and won't turn back on. When I run the Aero troubleshooter, it results in a "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting" message. The Windows Experience Index is also not working. When I try to run or refresh it, I get a message "Could not measure video playback performance". I tried searching the web, but had no luck.

Apr 14, 2009i just bought a new video card (EVGA GTX260) yesterday and installed it and played with it with no problem....(one day later)......until now so basically here what happens now. when i boot up it goes through the "starting up" phase and when the window 7 says "Welcome" after that i just get a blue screen, no word no picture just blue!
So i press the reset button and i am only able to go to my desktop menu by safe mode! and if i try to go through "start up computer regular" it would just lead me to the blue plane screen....
The reason why i think it is the driver is because in safe mode i am able to uninstall my nvidia driver. Restart and WOW i am back to my "REGULAR" desktop menu but with no driver. SO as soon as i am on my screen Window 7 wants install the newly detected video card's drivers for me and i do. when i restart BAM! back to the blue screen..

Oct 25, 2009My ATI HD3870 video card wont work...Upon downloading the windows 7 ATI CCC it informs me that there has been an error installing the driver...only for it to actually show up in the device manager as working, but then when I try to restart to set my MOBO to use it, I get a BSOD from atikmdag.sys

my Realtek AC'97 on-board audio card was working until reboot just like in another thread on this forum. At this point, however, isn't even showing up on the unknown devices list, nor ANYWHERE else on the Device Manager...
Also there's an unrecognized and unsupported piece of hardware on my mobo (ACPIAWY0001.....WTF is this thing!?) I cant even begin to find drivers that might go to it for Win7x64
can anyone offer fixes for these problems? or should I just go back to vistax32? at least everything worked on there...
Sound Turns Off When Play Video Games On PC?
Feb 9, 2013I recently had to purchase a brand new motherboard because my last one died on me and now I am having a strange problem. I can not seem to play any video games without the sound from the game turning off and pausing any music I happen to be listening to. I can turn back on the Music by skipping ahead in the song track but the game sound stays off until it resolves itself after a few minutes.

Sep 21, 2012A week ago I started my computer and instead of booting up normally, the Disk Read Error (Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart) screen came up and when I restarted, it would just repeat. I used the Win 7 on my SD card to do a repair and it fixed the problem, but the same thing happened again the next day and the fix didn't work. After that I just gave up and wiped my drive, did a fresh install of Win7. Today I turned on my computer and the same error came up. I restarted and it got to the Starting Windows screen, but it just freezes there. At first I thought the OS was corrupt, but this time the error came up within a week...I'm not sure what the problem is. :S My SSD could be the culprit, but I want to make sure that it's not something else causing this to happen before I go out and buy a new SSD. EDIT: The Windows Repair screen won't come up unless I turn off the computer and switch off the PSU, wait for the light on the motherboard to go off, and switch PSU back on. If I don't switch off the PSU, the Windows Repair screen will never appear and it will just continuously say, "Disk Read Error".

When I first got it, it arrived without the video card so I used a temp one. The computer started crashing, so I thought it was because the video card was old. I borrowed another one from a friend and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. The same thing happened with this one. I decided to run some test so I downloaded prime95, memtest86+, and a video benchmark. Everything passed except for prime95. Memtest ran for 11 hours with no errors and prime95 crashes after a couple of minutes. I returned the motherboard because I thought it was faulty, but the same thing happens with replacement. I tried moving the memory sticks to different slots and using one and then the other. I tried installing windows 7 32bit and 64bit. I ran the diagnostic test for the cpu and everything passed. I have installed the latest updated drivers.
So if it's not the motherboard, memory, cpu, nor gpu, what could it be. Can someone please help me identify the problem(s). I don't know where the .dmp went but here is a screen shot [URL] and I will attach the PERFMON HTML file.

I've had this computer about 2 months and everything was working great until today. This problem started out of nowhere. I didn't mess around with drivers etc.
Anyway, when I switch on my computer, the bios screen loads up..followed by the Windows 7 loading splash screen. Then just when the welcome screen should appear, my monitor turns to standby and says that it's not receiving an input signal.
I booted in safe mode and removed the drivers. I restarted my PC and it worked and my desktop appeared. However when i install the drivers again and restart the computer as required by the driver installation..the same problem as above reappears.
My monitor is connected via a HDMI cable to the GTX 580.
EDIT: When I go to device manager and right click the GTX 580..there is an option to roll back drivers. I clicked this and it now shows as a VGA Adapter. I restarted and my computer booted up...but obviously in low resolution as no previous drivers were ever installed since i bought the PC with up to date drivers.
I also just installed 290.53 BETA drivers. Restarted and my computer now just hangs at the welcome screen. I can still boot in safe mode which is how i'm managing to write this.
WMC Screen Saver Turns Off?
Feb 6, 2012Not sure if this is a WMC/Windows 7 issue or a TV issue.
I have an HTPC hooked up to a TV via an HDMI matrix. When I run the screensave (photo gallery) on my WMC I lose the signal to the TV very 20-25 minutes. I know this as I get a "No Signal" message. When I click on the keyboard the signal resets. This does not occur if I am watching a movie in WMC. Only when the screen save is running.
I don't seem to get this when I run the screen saver (photo gallery) on Apple TV through the same TV. It plays indefinately.
Is there a setting in WMC that turns off the screen saver slide show? Or is this a problem with my TV/Signal?
Ext Video Card Takes Audio From Ext Sound Card
Oct 25, 2012PI have to use onboard sound card to have audio through HDMI output from video card. The external sound card installed is Xonar DG and it comes with SPDIF output header to be interfaced with video card. But I do not see no such header on the video card. I wonder what video card has such an interface header.
