View 1 RepliesI recently desc covered that besides VLC on my laptop all the other video player are not able to work properly (meaning,, Windows Media Player 12, Cyberlink PowerDVD12 and WMPC are able to play only the audio, but not the video, just black screen),, BUT with VLC is no problem playing any video format!! The thing is that I didn't have this problem previously,, all my video players were able to play all the same video files, which they can't now! I have the latest AMD Radeon HD video drivers installed (just after I discovered the problem).
I have previously made this trade in a "Graphic Cards" section,, I guess it was wrong so I am re-posting it here "Music, Pictures & Video"
I have a problem playing live TV using Windows Media Player. I can select different TV channels without a problem. I can hear the audio clearly. However, i can not watch anything as it displays a black screen. I originally used WinTV (version 7, with the newest updated driver and software) and works fine. For video card, I have a GTX260 with the latest version (295.73) installed. I've tried different versions of driver (259.xx to 285.xx) to no avail. When I tried setting up the TV tuner it detects the tuner as Analog Cable (tuner 1) which I assume is the WinTV tuner.

This happened to my laptop a while ago already,, since I have this problem I updated my video drivers 5 or 6 times at least, and no change so far!Why am I assuming that the cause of my problem is the graphics card driver is, for ex. when I had just re- installed my windows (fresh! from Windows 7 to Windows 8),, the video playback was working, while the graphic card was running on the drivers provided by Microsoft! as soon as I am installing the driver for my model of AMD Radeon graphic card I am staring to have the problem. As I mentioned I have the problem for some time already, during this time I re-installed my Windows couple of time, plus I even changed the version of the windows (7to8), for the moment I have the last version of video driver installed, I haven't installed ANY codecs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with the settings trying to get a more clear pricutre, and now the desktop doesn't show any icons, no menu bar, and the background is partially cut out all around (like it's stretched to the original picture size). When I use ctrl alt delete the tv just goes black. The main problem is I can't use the main screen to adjust anything because my friend cracked it bad enough to where I can't make anything out.I have no problems using my friend's 40" tv, so I tried adjusting the resolution to a smaller size, but when I plug it back into the smaller tv it still doesn't work.I think this started happening when I changed some stuff in Asus Utilities Extended Desktop, but disabling that doesn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know there is a thread running round with issues regarding Win 7 desktop not showing icons and the solutions to it.even CTRL ALT DEL don't work. Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop. And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.

I'm so at a lost as to why video won't work. I use WINTV7 and everything is perfect. Like to use WMC as it is had your tv listings and and quickly record what i want.
i've just built a htpc using some old bits from a gaming pc, but when streaming videos full screen the audio and video are very choppy, with the audio including crackling sounds. for example, if i watch a 1080p video on Internet, it works reasonably well (with the odd pop from the audio) but as the controls overlay (with the play, pause and video slider) slides away the video slows down and there is a lot of crackling from the audio. there is an even worse problem with bbc iplayer and skygo when watching on fullscreen as the entire time the video almost seems slowed down and the audio is very choppy. if however i watch a downloaded video fullscreen, there are absolutely no problems at all.i have only just build this pc so i believe all drivers are up to date. i'm using windows 7 and have therefore disabled aero to see if that helps (it helped slightly). the hardware is as follows:
cpu: core 2 duo e8400 at 3ghz
graphics card: nvidia gt 430
motherboard: gigabyte ga x48 ds4
ram: 4gb ocz reaperx
for my old gaming pc i used all the same parts apart from using a gtx 460 for the graphics. this was then set up exactly the same way as this new htpc (into a samsung tv via hdmi from the graphics card) and yet worked absolutely fine. so the only thing that has changed is the graphics card, but the gt 430 is supposed to be able to easily handle hd video and audio.
Is it possible to put a Nvidea GTX 560 + Nvidea GTX 670 in one pc, and get them work both with one monitor?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI built a HTPC with a video card that does DVI and hdmi. The motherboard has a VGA.
But I also need either: s-video or composite What should I do? I don't want to like "downgrade" the video card and just use an old one for everything. Can I run them both? Like switch back and forth? "Simultaneous" is not required.
Also, I would already be using the PCIE 2.0x16 for the video card. I have PCIEx1 and PCI slots open. EDIT: I found this... [URL]
Would this work in letting me switch between the onboard video and the video card?
I have an old HP Proliant PC that I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. There are only two PCI-X slots (one half height and the other full height). This is not PCI-Express or plain PCI.i need to add a video card to support a higher resolution monitor. There is an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI-X card out there, but it is not supported with Windows 7. Since this card type is more than 10 years old and operating systems have moved on, I need to know where to find a new PCI-X graphics card (or used) that will support higher resolution. If a standard PCI card will fit in the slot, will it work and what is the down side.no drivers for Windows 7 with PCI-X.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a ATI Radeon HD 4800 that I use with DVI for my main display. I recently installed a Radeon 7500 PCI with the sole purpose of using the S-Video output to stream video to my TV. Under the device Manager I get the following error with the new card
PCI bus 7, device 1, function 0
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."
What can be going on?
I recently built a new machine that I have three monitors for. When I only had two monitors I had this card installed: Newegg.com - PNY XLR8 VCG98GTEE5XEB GeForce 9800 GT EE 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card works perfectly fine and I had no issues with it and I plan to continue using it. However, now that I have three monitors and I need another video card I'm running into a lot of issues. I tried installing another PCIe 16 card I had lying around but my setup didn't seem to recognize the new card. I do not have the exact model number on that since it was given to me, but I believe it was a GeForce 6 series card. I also tried a PCI ATI Radeon card that I had laying around found here Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100945L-BK Radeon 7000 64MB 64-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card showed up in the device manager as a Standard VGA adapater but in the properties it had an error saying "The device could not start".
So I guess my question is this: What is the cheapest way to get three monitors working on my windows 7 64 bit machine? I want to use the first card I linked to and one other one.
Would this card work? [URL] - PNY VCG84512SPEB GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Here is my motherboard in case that'll help: ASRock > Products > M3A780GXH/128M
I plan on getting a Nvidia GTX 570, but I don't know whether I should get two or one, because my motherboard runs one at x16, and two at x8.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion DV7T. It came with 2 video cards, an intel integrated card to save battery life, and Radeon card for games. The problem is, when running Skyrim the game looks for the video card listed in DirectX. My Radeon card is working, but not showing up in the dxdiag. How to get the Radeon card, or both, to show up on the dxdiag? I have uninstalled and re-installed the card. I have the most recent drivers, and tried older ones. Both cards show up in the Device Manager, the integrated card is listed first.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two different ATI cards installed in one system, each with their own 22" HP LCD. One is an ATI FireGL V5600 for my CAD applications and the other is an X1900XT for Left4Dead. When I ran Windows Update after I installed Windows 7, it immediately downloaded an updated driver for the V5600 (8.623, I think) but when it installed it, it disabled the X1900XT.
I went to the Device Manager, uninstalled the X1900XT, then Scanned for Hardware Changes, it finds the X1900XT, installs the driver and it works again. Unfortunately, it also reverts the driver for the V5600 back to 8.56.1.15 which isn't even a valid driver for the V5600 as seen on this page.
I'm not sure why I can't have independent drivers for each card. I know for a fact that this is supported in XP as I have my system dual booting with XP and it work perfectly there (see photo 1 and photo 2 it's hard to tell, but both of those screenshots are from XP with each card having independent drivers). The downside is that my CAD apps don't recognize the V5600 with driver 8.56.1.15 as the workstation card it is, and my graphics are severely crippled in those apps.
I would like to report this to Microsoft, but unlike in RC1 there is no way to report a bug.
I have vhs-c format tapes whereas I want to transfer them over to Windows 7 64 bit.
Currently my software/hardware will not work. Do you know of any usb type hardware that will work with it?
I'm looking to buy a AMD Radeon 6950, 6970 that's 10.4 inches in length or lower.I recently purchased a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 Dirt3 addition to replace my Crossfire setup of HIS Radeon HD 5770 cards. The card ran great for a day, and then I noticed artifact tearing and constant crashing to blue screen was an immediate sign the card was bad. But I gave it the benefit of the doubt, went to safe mode, disabled the card, uninstalled the old AMd drivers, swiped the registry for AMD video clean and reinstalled drivers. Still same artifacts and crashing. So I turned off PC, reseated the card, and still same issues.I had to RMA the card, and unfortunately Newegg doesn't have it in stock anymore (I figured these cards were good because they're out of STOCK everywhere.) so it's likely by the time it;'s finished processing I'll get my refund. Because if the item is out of stocked I have two options, replaced with a product of "equal" value, or refund. I'll obviously opt for a refund though.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know some people have been asking questions concerning 3 monitors on Windows 7, but they don't answer the question for me (i think).
My system is an ASUS P7P55D-E Pro, Core i7-860 2.8Ghz and dual GeForce GTX 275 1.7 GB.
I've spent a good couple of hours to get this to work or reading up on it, but I just have a 3rd monitor sitting here.
I have recently switched from XP - 32 bit to Windows7 64 bit Home Premium via an upgrade license.
When I did the “upgrade” I chose to format the hard drive before installing Windows 7. When I performed the upgrade, I had my Creative X-Fi Extreme Music in my board’s only PCI slot. (Check my profile for my rigs specs). Once I started playing audio files, I noticed popping and clicking. I remember reading that X-Fi cards are famous for this so instead of fighting it, I just decided to uninstall the card and use the Onboard sound (Realtek AC97).
I uninstalled all the Creative software and when I uninstalled the hardware through device manager, I select the option to remove the driver. I rebooted, and enabled my onboard sound. I downloaded the most up to date audio drivers from Gigabyte (my motherboard OEM) and installed said drivers. I immediately noticed the same popping and clicking.
This surprised me so I looked at possibly flashing my motherboard BIOS. Upon reading the notes for what they changed to the BIOS, none of the updates sounded like they could have anything to do with my issue. Those notes are below:
1. Improve VGA card compatibility
2. Improve S3 resume compatibility
3. Intel®Core™ i7 processor D-0 stepping support.
4. Enhance Core i7 D0 stepping compatibility
5. Fix abnormal messages from EasyTune 6 and DES in Vista
6. Update new CPU microcode
I did not flash the motherboard BIOS. Instead I decided to try one of my recording sound cards. This one being an external USB sound card. A Line6 Toneport UX-2. I had the SAME clicking issue but since this soundcard has the ability to change the buffer memory, I gave that a try. I extended the buffer all the way to 4096MB. This seemed to help, but now the audio only clicked once every 10 seconds instead of every 5.
I did some digging and someone said that X-Fi cards click because the memory of the machine exceeds 4gig. I brought up MSCONFIG, changed the usable memory to 4gig. I uninstalled my Line 6, and downloaded Driver Cleaner to clean out the Creative and the Realtek drivers, booted into safe mode, deleted the registry keys and remaining drivers for the X-Fi manually. Shutdown, reinstalled the X-Fi and have the same clicking and popping.
I am now at a loss and throw myself before you to help. Let me know if there is something I am missing and thanks again for taking the time to read this book. I just want to be thorough so you knew what I had tried.
after months of trying to get my video card drivers to work with windows 7, i finally made it happen. after that happened the laptop started to be slow and laggy. there was no lag problems while the video cards weren't installed. i'm saying like Internet loads slow, so the audio plays fine and video skips constantly or freezes. scrolling and load times for the browser are skippy and very slow, respectively. i don't know what i should do about this. i have 2 nvidia 7900gs currently going with the temp. at 74c.
edit: i forgot to add, when starting up sometimes windows will freeze and i have to hold the power button to shut it off. and other times, when it's loading up the monitor shuts off and about 2 minutes later it will turn on and then windows will show up and finally load.
