I have a genuine copy of windows 7 and the validation tool has ran on several occasions without a problem. I purchased it from PC World prior to when windows 7 was first released so that I received my copy asap. I'm now getting a pop up window which says my copy isn't genuine even though I know it is, can this be resolved without a reinstall?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the hard drive in my Acer Aspire notebook a month ago, successfully activated Windows and was running fine until a couple of days ago. Now I am getting the seemingly common (in this forum) Windows not Genuine error. I have attached the output from MGADiag below.
For reference, the Acer Aspire notebook is 3-years old, came preinstalled with Vista together with a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it launched, which I installed 2 years ago. Running fine the last 3 years.

When I install microsoft security essential ,My computer say that Window didi not pass genuine Windows Validation. You may be a victim of software counterfeiting. How to handle
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced the hard drive on my Dell PC. I followe the Seagate instructions to copy the entire hard-drive, including the Operating System. The instructions didn't say anything about activation or "genuine windows" issues. In any case, my Windows 7 installation is "activated", but does not pass Microsofts "Genuine" tests. Updating is disabled. I really don't want to reinstall Windows 7. Is there a way to get my "Genuine" status back?

It is gebuine OEM and activated (back when I got the notebook), and I have not tampered in any way.

I just installed a clean copy of Windows 7 professional yesterday (legitimate). I have been plagued with a few problems and they are as follows:Error messages appear when I try to download things, open certain things, etc. A couple of the errors that appear are:When I try to download things like drivers, it will say I need to restart so I do and nothing is fixed. How do I fix these errors?P.S. I checked the validate my windows 7 online when I installed it and windows is activated as "genuine".My second problem is a high pitched noise coming from my motherboard, I believe it might be my ATX 12v 2x4 but I could be mistaken, it is in that general area.ower is not an issue as I am running a Corsair TX 750 and I'm not running anything but an internet browser and a graphics card. More importantly, I used this setup with windows xp and it was fine. The only thing that I changed was that I rearranged the cords and wiring to make the case neater.
What's the problem and how do I fix it?My third problem is that when I right click on the desktop, it takes about 30 seconds for the menu to appear which is ridiculous as my WEI rating is 7.6 (disclaimer: I know WEI is not a proper benchmark but you get the idea). I'm running an SSD (crucial M4 with 0009 firmware), i7 2600k , gigabyte gtx 570 and 16GB of kingston hyper X ram 1600mhz.
Hi there, right now I have a non genuine version of Windows 7 Ultimate installed, I'm looking to replace it with a genuine copy of Windows 7 home premium. Could I do this with an upgrade disc or would I need to buy the whole OS? I'm trying to avoid paying 200$ to activate Ultimate.

I recently lost my desktop (it died) I found an old but still usable one and installed win 7 from my original installation cd. (i purchased a cd with 3 licenses). I tried the phone activation only to be told i had excedded my number of licenses. I assumed that when my old pc died i could install on a new machine, (maybe not). Who can I contact at MS to explain that one of my 3 installs is now DEAD and I'm not trying to steal a 4th install?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using an Acer Aspire 5738G, which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Later I got the free Windows 7 Home Premium update disc and never encountered any problem.
But since the last 1 month or so, I've been getting this 'Windows not genuine' message on a random basis. Microsoft Security Essentials says that it will disable itself within 30 days if the issue is not resolved. When I click on 'Resolve issue', an IE window is opened and takes me to Microsoft's website. When I do all the steps explained, everything goes back to normal and my Windows is again considered as genuine.
Windows 7 32&64bit wont pass first stage of Completing Installation due to "VGA DRIVER" After many weeks of trying to fix my mistake

Well first off the computer was running Windows xp64 pro and I performed clean install of windows 7 64BIT, Everything was working great and installed all updates up to sp1. Then I got a "twitch" in my brain and deciced to update my bios which I have never done nor even really used bios before and even better I updated when I was using windows 7. I was nable to open safari and I think other things were glitching out but cant remember. So of ourse now I know that my bios settings changed with the update and I attempted to reset and oll back and now have the old bios reinstalled and have tried many different settings with no change in installation. So I thought maby another clean install will fix my mistakes.and now after many many attempts to install both 32 AND 64BIT Windows 7 I found that using Shift f10 and going to device manager I can see that only the VGA DRIVER has a question mark and there is not a display drivers folder. I have tried onboard with no card installed with same results. I have also tried 3 different video cards and even ownloaded the driver for them for windows 7 64 and 32 from microsoft update catalog and it will say it can not be installed at the load driver option during windows 7 install, it will find the driver and put it on the list so it knows what Im trying to install just wont install it.(like it doesn't recognize the hardware)So im going crazy because I know windows 7 will run on this maching I just dont know what to do to make it work again other then find a working vga driver or video card that will install its drivers during the install from the windows 7 disc.I have tried:2 different hd both formated with windows 7 disc from cmd prompt disabled everything in bios I am not needing for installinstalling from usb with nothing attached to motherboard except a video card because I dont think onboard is compatable.Have tried to install in safe mode tried to disable vga during completing installation tried disabling usb after first restart and removed usb.I have tried installing in a different computer then puting hd back in and repair says it can not repair.Well im stuck believing I need to have a working VGA driver for installation to complete or it is not recognizing my card to know to install the driver.I have two VGA cards to try.Geforce 8500GT Geforce 7300LE Also my ethernet driver will not install ither so I dont have internet when using shift f10 to attempt installing driver over internet. I have been keeping it disables to prevent a problem there also.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to be getting this message and the prompt to boot into safe mode everytime I startup or reboot. Everything seems to be shutting down normally. This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that it seems to be loading an old system restore point whenever it does this. I don't know for sure if these 2 issues are connected. I first started getting the "Windows didn't shutdown properly" prompt after I had to do a reset of my computer during a total lock. I can't say for sure if the system restore point issue began when I first saw this as I don't shutdown my computer very often.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently on two different machines one x86, one x64, the current setup is dual boot with Vista & RC 7100 on both. Vista was installed first and is at the beginning of the physical disk on the first partition on each. What I would like to know is, for either system, when I do a clean install from upgrade media, will the setup program overwrite my qualifying install of Vista on the first partition by default, or can I select a different partition for the install choosing to tripple boot if I desire?
I've been searching the forums and cannot seem to nail this one down.
I never to into the Task Scheduler but today I did and got the following: "Task validation task: The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with" Seems to be a fairly common error from from what I can determine - and I have no experience with dealing with the registry and am reluctant to do so.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used Windows backup and restore to backup my files, and I let Windows choose which files to back up. Then my boyfriend dropped a heavy speaker on my computer and destroyed my internal hard drive, and when I restored my files from my external hard drive to a new computer, my most recent pst file was missing. There were a couple of old ones backed up, but not the most recent one, and I lost about three years' worth of e-mails.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I finished my first computer build. The process went smoothly until I installed Windows 7 and began to receive repeated blue screens. The BSODs have occurred in various situations such as: while attempting to update drivers, while installing Microsoft Security Essentials and during restarts. The problem is inconsistent and has caused various blue screen error codes that I cannot pinpoint (0x24, 0x3b, 0x34, 0x7e, 0x0a, 0xd1, 0x19). Within the last three days, my computer has blue screened 15 times .
As of now my drivers are up to date. I've also run chkdsk and memtest86+, but have yet to discover an error (in memtest86+ I tested my two RAM sticks individually and let it run for more than one pass).

RAM: G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
PSU: SILVERSTONE ST50F-ES 500W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB

I've also attached the two latest minidumps. Hopefully, I've provided enough information to help solve this issue. I want to use my new computer!
My recently used files no longer appear in the right-click menu of the Word taskbar icon. What do I do to get them back?
Windows 7 Home Premium Office 2010.
My work laptop was being changed from a Dell to a Lenovo and I was using Windows Backup & Restore to backup my important documents and emails. I took a final backup to my external hard drive before handing my old laptop to IT. Once I restored all my files I noticed the following:
1. Some files were not the latest versions, i.e. they were a month old.
2. Some subfolders simply weren't there. I had two subfolder in one of my folders and only one was restored and not the other. I made sure that I restored from the latest backup file.
I want to tweak my OS down to the core gpedit.msc makes it really simple and everything is there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore".
If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets.
I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail.
Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least).
