I never to into the Task Scheduler but today I did and got the following: "Task validation task: The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with" Seems to be a fairly common error from from what I can determine - and I have no experience with dealing with the registry and am reluctant to do so.
View 1 RepliesI recently lost my desktop (it died) I found an old but still usable one and installed win 7 from my original installation cd. (i purchased a cd with 3 licenses). I tried the phone activation only to be told i had excedded my number of licenses. I assumed that when my old pc died i could install on a new machine, (maybe not). Who can I contact at MS to explain that one of my 3 installs is now DEAD and I'm not trying to steal a 4th install?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore".
If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets.
I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail.
Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least).
I upgraded the hard drive in my Acer Aspire notebook a month ago, successfully activated Windows and was running fine until a couple of days ago. Now I am getting the seemingly common (in this forum) Windows not Genuine error. I have attached the output from MGADiag below.
For reference, the Acer Aspire notebook is 3-years old, came preinstalled with Vista together with a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it launched, which I installed 2 years ago. Running fine the last 3 years.

I have already reported to Sony to but i heard their take their time but thats the one thing what i dont have at the moment so i know many people here know about that stuff to. So anyway. Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that . The problem is after the system restore every time Vegas launches i get a error : Sony Vegas pro 10 an error occurred starting Vegas Pro Error 0x80070002 (message missing).

I have been plagued with a few problems and they are as follows:Error messages appear when I try to download things, open certain things, etc. A couple of the errors that appear are:When I try to download things like drivers, it will say I need to restart so I do and nothing is fixed. How do I fix these errors?P.S. I checked the validate my windows 7 online when I installed it and windows is activated as "genuine".My second problem is a high pitched noise coming from my motherboard, I believe it might be my ATX 12v 2x4 but I could be mistaken, it is in that general area.ower is not an issue as I am running a Corsair TX 750 and I'm not running anything but an internet browser and a graphics card. I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 on it, about a month and a half ago. Ever since the first week a problem happens periodically, at least once a week if not more. The screen will turn black, usually flickering so I can see the mouse for a second, then it flickers black, then I see the mouse, etc. Usually the only way I can fix it is by closing the laptop and waiting, then it will go into sleep mode.I get it started back up, and all the sudden I can no longer see my desktop, or the icons in my taskbar.I can get these back by changing and saving one property on each, then everything seems to be fine. This problem is not associated with a screen saver, it happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes when I'm dealing with a new program, but sometimes when I'm simply browsing the internet. It could be connected to google chrome I guess.

Vista was installed first and is at the beginning of the physical disk on the first partition on each. What I would like to know is, for either system, when I do a clean install from upgrade media, will the setup program overwrite my qualifying install of Vista on the first partition by default, or can I select a different partition for the install choosing to tripple boot if I desire?

I have a genuine copy of windows 7 and the validation tool has ran on several occasions without a problem. I purchased it from PC World prior to when windows 7 was first released so that I received my copy asap. I'm now getting a pop up window which says my copy isn't genuine even though I know it is, can this be resolved without a reinstall?

Task scheduler throws an error saying " The user account does not have permission to view task history on this machine" while trying to view task history for a task that was created with same User Account in which currently we are logged in.Is this a Bug?
Note : I didnt even logout once. All this happened in same session.
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have done a system backup of my portable and restored it to a larger hard disk. Everything is working OK except for Windows Update. When I try to run Windows Update I get a task isn't running message - Unknown Error 8024A000. I have replaced the old hard disk and Windows Update works just fine.

Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.

I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

So I'm trying to upgrade from the 6801 build (32-bit) to the 7100 build so both my laptops are on the same build.... 7100 is way more stable also..
Anyways I put in my Windows 7 7100 DVD, restart the comp... I hit a key to boot from CD, it tries to boot and comes up with a screen that says:
