VLC Player Download Giving Error Message
Jul 5, 2012I've been using TechTracker for years, but today I hit a wall with the VLC Player update from ver. 2.0.1 to ver. 2.0.2. I am using Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit system and have no problems with anything else. When the download from CNET ended, I got an error msg. saying the download failed. So, I opened up VLC Player, checked for updates, got the notice that a major update was available and downloaded it. When the download completed, VLC Player crashed and asked if I wanted to send in a crash report. I clicked on "Yes" and immediately got a new popup window saying that it failed to reach the FTP server.

May 1, 2012had a virus last year with an underlying update problem. the virus got sorted but i was told the only way to sort the update was to reinstall windows. basically every time the laptop was turned off it was have to reinstall all the updates as they dont seem to save when it shuts off. i left it at the time as it was only 25 or so updates. it is now at over 90 updates and i am missing some security updates. when i try updating manually it comes up with code 80071A91-windows update encountered an unknown error.

Nov 11, 2012On loading Windows, I've been receiving an odd error message in reference to a non-existent "F:System Reserved" drive stating "you must format the disk in drive F: before you can use it." This will occur multiple times per minute at first before eventually going away. Each time the error occurs, this F: drive will appear for a split second before immediately disappearing once more. While this hasn't seemed to impact the performance of the computer in any way, the repeated errors essentially make the computer unusable for the first 2-3 minutes after loading.

Jun 18, 2012Today I started getting a strange error message pop up that stated "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." It seems to pop up at random. First couple times, I ignored it. When it persisted, I googled it, only to find most people with this error are having issues with links in outlook. I do not use outlook or IE, and wasn't doing anything browser related during any of the errors, so, lazily, I ignored it again. Finally, when one of these errors kicked me out of my Portal game, I decided I had to do something about it. I decided to just system restore before I went through any huge hassle before I tried figuring anything major out.
System restore went swimmingly, didn't seem to have any issues. But.. My keyboard and mouse, both wireless and usb, weren't working upon reboot. Okay. Different port. Nope. All of them are dead. All. Even the motherboard ones in the back. NO usb device I plug in works, or even registers. To make it weirder, I see that my wireless isn't connecting (the internet is fine) and my sound is muted. Sound was on when I started system restore. It's like all input into my machine is no longer accepted. I know the CD drive works, because inserting a CD even brought up the autoplay window, even though I can't actually input anything.

Jul 12, 2011i downloaded a trial progran and deleted it, then i had problems with windows, booted eventually after 6 minutes but no internet and i get this error message, windows cannot connect to systen event services,log in as admin and check what services fail to load, but it wont even do that. my system restore has also been disabled etc. i tried a repair but no joy, so i tried an upgrade but, because the installed version on the PC is newer than the CD version it wont do the upgrade. i am trying to avoid a clean install. how can i get past the "you have a newer version of windows" and do the upgrade,

Mar 21, 2011I have a emachine e725 running windows 7 32bit and a acer running on windows vista. My emachine recently crashed in the blue screen and I tried to complete a system restore. I was able to get through the advanced boot menu and use the repair your computer option to restore windows. During the windows setup process I got another blue screen and the computer restarting. It then started the process over and once it got to the step that says windows is preparing setup, it gives an error msg saying something along the lines of windows was interupted and needs to restart to complete installation, and it has an option to press ok. This cycle continues and I can not open in safe mode because it says "windows can not complete the installation in safemode. Also the option to repair your computer in the advanced menu options is no longer available. So after wrestling with windows starting up I decided to create a back up and restore disc on my acer for my windows 7 computer. I tried putting it on a disc but it would not boot. So I tried creating a installation disc of windows 7 and tried booting from the cdrom drive. Once I did that I got a error msg saying "device driver not found: MSCD001 No valid cdrom device drivers selected. It then gives me the A:>. Im not sure if I created the disc wrong since I cant unzip the entire file I downloaded with needing an encryption password.

Explorer.exe will fail on me, and I have tried the src thing using run but it will open and immediately close on me. I didn't have a recovery disk so I just recently bought one. I "think" I made the recovery disk correctly. When I put the cd in, I got an error that the file winload.exe with the error code 0xc0000001 saying the file may be missing or may be corrupt.

The printer is connected, as I can open the properties and see that the yellow toner is low.
