Windows 7 Validation Errors?
Oct 18, 2011I just installed a clean copy of Windows 7 professional yesterday (legitimate). I have been plagued with a few problems and they are as follows:Error messages appear when I try to download things, open certain things, etc. A couple of the errors that appear are:When I try to download things like drivers, it will say I need to restart so I do and nothing is fixed. How do I fix these errors?P.S. I checked the validate my windows 7 online when I installed it and windows is activated as "genuine".My second problem is a high pitched noise coming from my motherboard, I believe it might be my ATX 12v 2x4 but I could be mistaken, it is in that general area.ower is not an issue as I am running a Corsair TX 750 and I'm not running anything but an internet browser and a graphics card. More importantly, I used this setup with windows xp and it was fine. The only thing that I changed was that I rearranged the cords and wiring to make the case neater.
What's the problem and how do I fix it?My third problem is that when I right click on the desktop, it takes about 30 seconds for the menu to appear which is ridiculous as my WEI rating is 7.6 (disclaimer: I know WEI is not a proper benchmark but you get the idea). I'm running an SSD (crucial M4 with 0009 firmware), i7 2600k , gigabyte gtx 570 and 16GB of kingston hyper X ram 1600mhz.
Windows 7 Validation Error On Reinstall On New PC?
Dec 4, 2012I recently lost my desktop (it died) I found an old but still usable one and installed win 7 from my original installation cd. (i purchased a cd with 3 licenses). I tried the phone activation only to be told i had excedded my number of licenses. I assumed that when my old pc died i could install on a new machine, (maybe not). Who can I contact at MS to explain that one of my 3 installs is now DEAD and I'm not trying to steal a 4th install?

I purchased it from PC World prior to when windows 7 was first released so that I received my copy asap. Well first off the computer was running Windows xp64 pro and I performed clean install of windows 7 64BIT, Everything was working great and installed all updates up to sp1. Then I got a "twitch" in my brain and deciced to update my bios which I have never done nor even really used bios before and even better I updated when I was using windows 7. I was nable to open safari and I think other things were glitching out but cant remember. So of ourse now I know that my bios settings changed with the update and I attempted to reset and oll back and now have the old bios reinstalled and have tried many different settings with no change in installation. So I thought maby another clean install will fix my mistakes.and now after many many attempts to install both 32 AND 64BIT Windows 7 I found that using Shift f10 and going to device manager I can see that only the VGA DRIVER has a question mark and there is not a display drivers folder. I have tried onboard with no card installed with same results. I have also tried 3 different video cards and even ownloaded the driver for them for windows 7 64 and 32 from microsoft update catalog and it will say it can not be installed at the load driver option during windows 7 install, it will find the driver and put it on the list so it knows what Im trying to install just wont install it.(like it doesn't recognize the hardware)So im going crazy because I know windows 7 will run on this maching I just dont know what to do to make it work again other then find a working vga driver or video card that will install its drivers during the install from the windows 7 disc.I have tried:2 different hd both formated with windows 7 disc from cmd prompt disabled everything in bios I am not needing for installinstalling from usb with nothing attached to motherboard except a video card because I dont think onboard is compatable.Have tried to install in safe mode tried to disable vga during completing installation tried disabling usb after first restart and removed usb.I have tried installing in a different computer then puting hd back in and repair says it can not repair.Well im stuck believing I need to have a working VGA driver for installation to complete or it is not recognizing my card to know to install the driver.I have two VGA cards to try.Geforce 8500GT Geforce 7300LE Also my ethernet driver will not install ither so I dont have internet when using shift f10 to attempt installing driver over internet. I have been keeping it disables to prevent a problem there also.

Vista was installed first and is at the beginning of the physical disk on the first partition on each. What I would like to know is, for either system, when I do a clean install from upgrade media, will the setup program overwrite my qualifying install of Vista on the first partition by default, or can I select a different partition for the install choosing to tripple boot if I desire?

May 8, 2009I have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore".
If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets.
I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail.
Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least).

I only noticed the error when trying to activate windows and, of course, as the laptop is Home Edn, and I used an Ultimate disc it didn't take the key on the laptop. So I have now installed Home edition and have the Windows.old folder present. I basically need to put all the programs and file/folders etc into the new OS.
