Word Manage Didn't Leave The Screen?

Oct 7, 2012When I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.

Jan 16, 2013I seem to be getting this message and the prompt to boot into safe mode everytime I startup or reboot. Everything seems to be shutting down normally. This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that it seems to be loading an old system restore point whenever it does this. I don't know for sure if these 2 issues are connected. I first started getting the "Windows didn't shutdown properly" prompt after I had to do a reset of my computer during a total lock. I can't say for sure if the system restore point issue began when I first saw this as I don't shutdown my computer very often.

Inserted the 3 recovery disk one at a time and after 37 minutes the message said the recovery was a success and then the next screen came up said insert media disk just like it did when I first started. Then my boyfriend dropped a heavy speaker on my computer and destroyed my internal hard drive, and when I restored my files from my external hard drive to a new computer, my most recent pst file was missing. There were a couple of old ones backed up, but not the most recent one, and I lost about three years' worth of e-mails.

Feb 7, 2012A few days ago I finished my first computer build. The process went smoothly until I installed Windows 7 and began to receive repeated blue screens. The BSODs have occurred in various situations such as: while attempting to update drivers, while installing Microsoft Security Essentials and during restarts. The problem is inconsistent and has caused various blue screen error codes that I cannot pinpoint (0x24, 0x3b, 0x34, 0x7e, 0x0a, 0xd1, 0x19). Within the last three days, my computer has blue screened 15 times .
As of now my drivers are up to date. I've also run chkdsk and memtest86+, but have yet to discover an error (in memtest86+ I tested my two RAM sticks individually and let it run for more than one pass).

Windows Backup Didn't Restore All Files
Jul 19, 2012My work laptop was being changed from a Dell to a Lenovo and I was using Windows Backup & Restore to backup my important documents and emails. I took a final backup to my external hard drive before handing my old laptop to IT. Once I restored all my files I noticed the following:
1. Some files were not the latest versions, i.e. they were a month old.
2. Some subfolders simply weren't there. I had two subfolder in one of my folders and only one was restored and not the other. I made sure that I restored from the latest backup file.

Windows Live Essentials Didn't Do Clean Uninstall
Apr 21, 2011I uninstalled Windows Live Essentials 2011 through Programs and Features. It left several folders in the Registry and Windows Live Mail on the HD. Although I own and granted permission for the Live Mail folders, these "trusted installer" files will not delete. After uninstalling programs in past OS, I have always gone into the Registry and manually cleaned out remaining files that were not uninstalled. I would like to do the same for the remains of Windows Live Essentials in the Registry, but because it has "Windows" in the name, I am reluctant to remove from the Registry...... I am not sure if it is linked to anything else. I have CCleaner, but apprehensive about using in the Registry.Can some wise person let me know if I manually remove Windows Live Essentials and its family folders from the Registry the sky will not fall down (that said, I don't know if the trusted installer folders on the HD and in the Registry will allow removal)

When we boot with the disk in the drive, a prompt asking for our language (which is greyed out so we can't change it) and our keyboard (which we can change) appears. Without changing the keyboard option, we press 'next' and then it freezes. We've also tried the 'repair your computer' option in the Advanced Boot Options, but it also freezes.

When I went to start either one, I got a close program message. It stated that FF (or when starting TB), they were already running and had to be closed. I then ran Process Explorer and Windows Task Manager. neither of whih showed any indication that these programs were running. I then return the profiles to their original locations, and FF and TB returned to normal.

I have saved this file as well as the whole folder, but after installing Windows 7, I tried to put all the files in the same spot, yet Outlook creates its own "Outlook1.pst" file and ignores the one I put in. I tried to import as well with no luck. I only had about 10 emails but they were job related and pretty important. Can someone please help?

May 28, 2012I've been having problems with my computer's sleep and hibernation. Whenever I use them, my computer shuts down instead, and when i go to wake it up I get a screen saying Windows shut down improperly. I did a little searching around and found out it seemed to be a common problem after installing SP1 for Windows 7, and that there was a fix. But when i went to download the fix, it told me I already had it downloaded. Yet I still have this problem. Other places said to try turning off the hybrid sleep option - except mine was already off.

May 12, 2012My wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore.When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.

Sep 2, 2012My son has a Toshiba Satelite P205 that he just upgraded from Windows XP Home Premium to Windows 7 32-bit. After the upgrade completed the computer booted fine. The within 20 minutes he got the BSOD and the system rebooted. Now he can't get Windows to fully start. We've tried all of the options from F8 with no success. We have the Toshiba System Recovery Disk but it won't launch. (The Boot sequence has been changed to boot from CD/DVD and then the Hard Drive.)The Memory Diagnostic from the Windows 7 disk ran fine with no errors. I'm thinking I might need to re-format/wipe the drive to start fresh but don't know where to obtain a boot CD(no floppy drive on this laptop). Does anyone recommend a software that I can purchase to clear everything without destroying the CD/DVD accessibility so I can then use the System Recovery Disk to put it back to the original factory Settings?
