Windows 7 Will Not Start Or Reinstall After Motherboard Change
Sep 11, 2011
My motherboard died on me, and so I had to change it together with the processor and RAM as there were no socket 775 motherboards available locally. However, Win 7 blue screens every time on start up, but very briefly, so I can't see the error message.
Win 7 repair then kicks in, but finds nothing wrong, so it goes round and round like that ad infinitum.
All the repair methods I have found require that you work within windows, which is patently stupid if you want to repair because you can't get windows to work - it's a bit like trying to open a box with a tool that's inside it!
I tried a new install, which has backed up my old Windows as Windows.old, and it goes though all the paces, but then refuses to accept the activation code.
I am now stuck with a non functioning PC, and am scared to add anything in the future in case of this type of thing.
I found a really good deal for a P8P67 Deluxe motherboard and was going to get an i5 2500k but I have heard that doing so will not be do-able with an OEM copy of windows 7. !?
I was also going to get an SSD and transfer windows 7 onto it, can I do either of these things with an OEM copy ? and how would I go about transferring it from my mechanical to an SSD
I RMA'd the motherboard of a new system I am building because one of its' two banks of DIMM slots was defective. Is it necessary for me to re-install of the OS once I have the same replacement motherboard installed? If it is necessary for me to re-install, am I going to have issues with my licensed copy of Windows 7, since in theory it is being installed on another system?BTW, the OS installed fine and the system appears to be stable running off 16GB of memory. Nevertheless, I returned the mobo because I couldn't get my system it to recognize the other 16GB of memory installed. I am a PC convert after having spent the last 15 years working with Macs so my knowledge of PC OSs is not terribly sophisticated. This is my second PC build (the first being a hybrid with a mac OS).Delvin P. Blanders
I reinstalled Windows 7 here recently and when I did I formated my HDD do I need to reinstall my motherboard drivers? I have been having video stuttering ever since I reinstalled Windows and formatted my drive?
My current motherboard is a socket 775 G41 chipset with 2 x DIMM slots for DDR2 RAM. I currently have 2 x 2GB Kingston RAM in them, but need to increase RAM to 8GB.However 2 x 4GB DDR2 is so ridiculously expensive it is not economically viable to do this.Around 175 for branded RAM or 100 for unbranded stuff that might be dodgy. So I am thinking of getting a motherboard that runs DDR3 RAM, then I can put in 8GB of cheaper DDR3 RAM and even with a new Mobo I am still better off, even using branded RAM.16GB would be nice but I don't think socket 775 mobos exist that support that much.I am keeping the same CPU (Core 2 Quad Q8300) and everything else.Running Windows 7 64 bit. My question is will I need to reinstall Windows? in fact I probably wouldn't bother if that was the case.
i just finished my build and i have no idea why i went for a motherboard with 2 slots for ram it can hold up to 16gb but luckly ebuyer sent me out an extra 4gb of kingston hyperx ram so i have 8gb all together but theres a problem theres 4 sticks ! obviously i wouldnt want to send it back so what do ya think either upgrade my motherboard and smash the extra 4 gb in there or keep to my original one i dont have money to blow atall im really struggling if its something that will really make a difference ill go with it if not then ill just keep to my original and when i come to buy a graphics card i will get a 2gb graphics card to help with gaming?
When I opened any internet using application or video game (even if it was offline) it would disconnect me from internet and everyone on my network. I found out that when this happened NT kernel would use a lot of CPU. So I decided to reinstall windows.I inserted windows 7 CD, started the formatting and when it was starting to copy the files it froze, and now it freezes during BIOS, boot, sometimes I do make it into the windows install menu, but it freezes there. Some other times it's loading files and then it gives a black screen.I tried using only one ram module each time, no hard drive, removing battey.
I recently updated my not so official copy of windows 7 with the automatic updates (i bought the computer, wasnt aware windows wasnt legit but he said everything is good). Ive updated before. needless to say i have been gettin some torrents. now when i restarted after the windows load screen the computer reboots. i put a windows 7 disc in the cd rom and try to reinstall, when I hit install it just says remove the disc and restart the computer? All i want is to erase and start over.
i have recently updated to windows 7 my cofig is Cpu intel E4400 ,GA945GCMX2 motherboard , 2 gb ram.when i do multi task, it always gives dump error all the time and the display driver also stops working..gigabyte has only lan and audio drivers for windows 7
I have Windows Ultimate (x64).I use the Asus Suite II supplied with my Asus Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 Motherboard (which I like for fan and temperature monitoring) Ai Suite II always loads BUT "on screen" it is messy during loading because a seemingly AI Suite bar sized white artefact appears top left of screen for 10- 20 seconds before disappearing when the AI suite icon appears in the notification tray. Sometimes a white square also appears temporarily.I have noted that if I exit Ai Suite II and reload via the Asus AI suite supplied Shortcut I never get these artefacts AND the suite loads instantaneously (I note however Asus uses AI Suite II.exe via the shortcut but via the Asus installed Task Schedule it open via "AsRoutineController.exe -open"I have also tried unloading AI Suite II and AsRoutineController.exe and loading AsRoutineController.exe and it too loads cleanly and almost instantaneously.
1) Why does Asus use the Task scheduler instead of loading via the normal Windows Startup procedures? 2) Could it be so each can be easily disabled if required) and is that the ONLY reason? 3) what is the -open switch in the command line? 4) Is there ANY good reason why I should not disable the AI Suite II in the Task Scheduler and add it the the Normal Windows Startup applications I use the Free version of Startup Delayer as it has served me wonderfully with my current Win 7 O/S (and my previous XP) in ensuring all desired Notification Tray Icons display EVERY time).
Today I PROVISIONALLY made the change and AI Suite II opens cleanly (as other Startup apps) without temporary white artefacts and with no noted side effects so far. I am nervous however, to make it permanent without advice from knowledgeable Seven Forums members on this subject
I built my computer a year a ago and I haven't had any signifigant problems untill last week. My computer randomly shut itself off and ever since then I can not get past the start up screen. The orbs begin to fly around but then the system either locks up or restarts. I can not access safe mode or even revert it back to the last stable mode. I tried re installing Windows but after downloading the files from the disk the computer freezes and restarts. I have purchased a new set of ram but that does not seem to have solved the problem[CODE]
If I change a motherboard/cpu in an Dell PC, will I still be able to use Windows 7 on that computer? I know that I can get the drivers loaded ok in safe mode, but will I need to re-activate Windows 7 to get it working again?
I read something a long time ago about hardware changes and activation, but I don't know if this will happen in this case. No big deal if I just need to ring up, but I wanted to check it wouldn't just break.
About half a year ago my computer began to not always start. When I power it on, the fans will get power (they are directly connected to the PSU) and spin up.When it does start, LED's on the motherboard light up - fans drop in rpm and the system boots. When it does NOT start, LED's wont light up - fans stay at max rpm and screen keeps black.Keep in mind that when the system is up and running, everything works perfectly. It never crashes. It performes like it should in demanding applications such as games etc.Temperaturs on CPU and GPU are normal. It should not be a problem with the PSU as I have had the problem with different PSU's.One thing to note is that let's say I unplug the power to my additional HDD's the computer starts pretty much every time, but not always (9 out of 10 or something)With both my HDD's connected is when it starts to become more like 50/50 if it's going to start or not.I'm thinking there might be a problem with the motherboard, but I'm not sure since the system runs perfectly once it's up and running. If it was anything major I assume the system would either not boot at all or it would have alot of hardware related crashes.

My issue is, I'll try to boot into Windows 7 Ultimate x64, not a new installation at all, and I get the "Windows is Starting" screen and the little colored balls, but after a few seconds I get a very very quick blue screen and reboot before Windows even loads. There's no way I can read the blue screen error. So I thought, "Let's just do a startup repair." That didn't work; it said: Quote: Root cause found:The partition table does not have a valid System Partition
Repair action: Partition table repair Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0 Time taken = 20632ms
So I pop in the Windows 7 installation DVD; it tells me there are missing CD/DVD drivers. I point it to the Windows 7 drivers directory on my primary HDD, it still can't find anything. So I load up my copy of MSDaRT. Some tools load, but it tells me "Tool requires a supported offline OS" under many of the tools, and the ones that do start won't do anything at all because they can't "see" my Windows 7 installation. I have an external HDD reader, but I'd rather not have to wipe everything and do a clean reinstall. Maybe trying to fix the partitions with a G-Parted on an Ubuntu Live CD or something?
Due to a windows crash, I had to reinstall windows 7 (64 bit). My windows files in on an SSD and most all of my programs are on another SATA drive. The windows install went through, but none of the programs from the other drive show up when I click on the start button/all programs (somewhat understandable). Is there any quick way to get all of the programs (office, photoshop, etc.) that are on my D drive to appear where you click on "all programs"? Also, can I just delete my windows.old folder from my C drive to free up space? Any reason it is needed? Do I just delete it?
On a Win XP machine you could delete the registry keys under HKLMEnum as the last step before removing the MB and when the new MB was installed the Plug & Play would install the your hardware drivers and properly configure the new MB.Is there a similar process that will work with Win 7? There is no HKLMEnum key in Win 7 registry. There is a HKLMSystemControl Set 001Enum.
My computer won't startup in normal or safe mode and I was told my windows 7 may be corrupt. I am trying to reinstall it, but I'm not sure how. I place the disc in the drive and rebooted the computer but it didn't work. The system repairs won't work, nor will system restore. Is there a command prompt or anything?
is it best to uninstall old drivers first then install new hardware then new drivers or would i have to use windows disk to do a repair install after taking off old drivers and new hardware i know there is a "sysprep" tool that should remove hardware dependencies and things but i have no idea what it does/how to use it or if it will leave programs and settings in place without modifying them as im going from a foxconn 45cmx, core e7600 and 3gb ddr3 to an asus 1155 motherboard,i5 2500 and 8gb ddr3?
i bought a new laptop (toshiba t130) and as such windows 7 came pre-installed on the laptop and so i have no disk!
when i turned on the laptop for the first time the setup came up asking me to select between 32-bit and 64-bit. i decided that i needed to do some more research on the matter so i cancelled the setup.
however, the next time i turned it on windows 7 automatically setup the 32-bit version!!
how can do i do a clean reinstall of windows so as to change it to 64-bit?? (as i have no disk)
I have a xFI sound-card and every time I start my PC I have to reinstall the card's drivers. I have 2 pci slots on my board and an ATI pci express Radion. When I put the card in the other slot right next to the graphics card it works no problem what so ever accept it is blocking the graphics card fan and the GPU heat doubles so this is not acceptable.I have tried a audigy sound card in the slot and it works OK.
I have a 64 bit OS and I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. In the sound menu of Win 7 you have a choice "Play Windows Start up Sound", check box. If unchecked no Start up Sound. I would rather have my own sound and when I searched the web I found a program which opens up the "dll" file to change the sound, "ResHack". When I tested the sound I wanted to use it played but on rebooting my computer it went back to the Windows 7 default sound. Microsoft really bugs.
I have tried to log into my Dell Inspiron laptop this morning and get the message as detailed above. It gives me 2 options launch startup repair or run windows normally neither do anything. I've tried running in safe mode and it takes me back to the same screen.I have the original OS disks from Dell etc if I need to reinstall, but just don't know how since I can't get past the same screen.
I am facing problem in my Window 7 display due to my kid accident click the setting change (I don't know how they change) that cause the "start" button change from icon to the word "Start" with window image, also my font seem to be smaller than previous, did any senior can help me to restore to the normal view
when i am formatting my laptop with windows7 usb drive it completed 85% and after that i am geeting the below error: windows boot manager windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix problem:
1. insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. choose your language settings, and then click "next." 3.click "repair your computer."
if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.when i click on enter it go to another window where it shows us to press F8 but when i m pressing f8 it goes to same error window.
