Can W/7 install to a SCSI drive without the driver installation (F6)? I'm just about to install W7, and it seems to detect all 3 SCSI drives without the driver for the LSI 1030 Ultra SCSI adapter.
I'm just a little surprised how simple this is, usually you have to supply the additional driver...
Having gone through all the setting up processes, my system will not produce Minidump Files, an SCSI miniport is mentioned as part of the production process, yet I have searched my system and cannot find one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS730 with the Nvidia Nforce 790i chipset. I run two 500 gig SATA drives under RAID 0. I recently installed an Intel X25 80 gig SSD and have ran into problems. Windows recognizes the drive as SCSI in device manager. Granted it works however because it is listed as SCSI TRIM and the intel toolbox wont work which makes an SSD useless.After tons of research I have found that because of the Nvidia chipset it makes the drive show up as SCSI. I have tried Vista and Windows 7, both show it as SCSI. I have moved the SATA cable away from the other main 4 that support RAID with no luck. I have refomatted several times as well with no luck. I have completely disabled RAID in the bios and it STILL shows as SCSI. Is there any way to get around this? I have read that changing the nvidia controller drivers may work but im not sure what I would switch them to?

The adaptec website there is no 64 bit version available, but i have been reading around for solutions with no success.
I need the "Adaptec AIC-7870 PCI SCSI Controller" ... but there is no 64 bit version for that. When i try to install the drivers (there is no installer program, i just need to use the update drivers feature of windows) it says that it is not a 64 bit version so i can't use it.
Is there any solution to my problem?
Anyone have working driver for this scsi card, i like this, and this can working good for my Umax 1220s flatbed scanner

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been reading about issues with people having problems with their SSD's not being reconized by Windows 7 Ultimate.but my WD 600gig STAT III Raptor is listed as a SCSI as well. I assume the problem is with my Marvell Driver.I bought this 60gig OCZ Vertex 3 SATA III drive for a Boot drive and had a pain installing drivers for it on a clean install of windows. I plugged it, and my WD Raptor both into the 2 SATA III ports that I have on my ASUS Rampage III MB. I set the Drives to ACHI not IDE. Tried to install Windows, had to force windows to accept the Marvell Drivers...but finally got it installed.Now Im stuck with the OCZ SSD and the Raptor both at SCSI speeds...not able to get them reconized my Windows 7 Ult as SATA drives.Should I try uninstalling the Marvell and JBMicron drivers and let Windows try and install drivers that will work? Funny thing is, I know that windows is reconizing the SSD as a SSD because of the Disk Defrag has been disabled on it...and was able to get some info off the drive via Intels SSD toolbox....OCZ's tool box wont reconize it unless you use Windows drivers. I had to install the Marvell Drivers to install Windows, Windows wouldn't reconize either drive plugged into the SATA III ports.I've tried bout everything, even tried the reg. fix via the Windows Helper with no luck.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of old SCSI slide scanners and SCSI cards I use in (real) 32-bit XP, that no 64 bit drivers exist for. So I haven't been able to get them to work in Windows 7.
Is there any hope of getting them to work via Windows XP Mode in Windows 7? My impression scanning posts here is that this won't work, as I need real XP to talk to real SCSI cards with real drivers, and the virtual/emulated environment won't acommodate this.
I picked up a VT capable processor, hoping to try all this out, but now I find my Windows 7 RC eval setup can't load the RTM Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC software, so I'm unable to test it out. No way I'm springing for Windows 7 Pro only to find out the virtualization capability won't do what I need it to do.
Will I have to continue to dual-boot into XP when I want to work with the old hardware? If so, I'll just get the Windows 7 Home family pack, and forget about VT..
First, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.
This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
I am trying to install Windows 7 on my test machine. However, I can't get it to detect any drives - three are 3 disks in the system - it is an IDE disk. When I try and install, it can't detect any disks, but when I try and install through Windows Vista, it detects them.
However, then it says it needs the driver for the LSI Logic 22910, 21002 PCI SCSI adapter; 53C896 Device. Is there still a version of this, and if so, where can I get it? I have tried everywhere I can think of, including the LSI website!
I have a lsi megaraid 1600 elite scsi card which is not being dected by windows 7 64bit. I have tried several drivers packages for server 2003 and 2008 but it doesnt work. Lsi does not list visa drivers for this card on thier site. Does anyone have any suggestions.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust installed Windows 7 RTM and my Sata HDD's and DVDRW are reporting as SCSI devices. I would get this problem in XP if I installed the mobo's raid drivers by accident. If I did then the devices would report as SCSI and the dvd burner would report as a cdrom and would not burn or read dvds
Whereas in Windows 7 the burner is reporting as a DVDRW scsi CDrom and will play dvd's and burn them too.
So at the moment there doesn't seem to be any problem however whilst navigating through the control panel I noticed the WEI. So I took a look and it's report my primary hard drive with a score of 5.9. The hard drive is a brand new Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb 32mb cache disk, is this score normal for such a drive?
Also is there anything else to worry about with the devices reporting as SCSI or is okay to leave it like that.
How can I uninstall a Gigabyte raid contoller without crashing my Win 7 OS? Uninstall is being prevented because "the OS is on the contoller"! Win 7 64 bit is on a Crucial SSD boot drive and AHCI is set in BIOS. However the raid controller is setting all internal drives to SCSI!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a new OS install, using my the same Windows 7 64 install disk as before. I do have new drives, but they are just newer versions of my old drives (which died) - and they are pretty standard HP slim drives.
For some reason, the OS install will not complete. It's saying that an optical drive driver is missing, and wants me to install it manually.
these drives did NOT come with any driver cd, nor is there a driver available on the HP support site. They must be plug&play.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Windows 7 64bit. After loading windows 7 setup from my dvd drive I get the error "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." From doing a lot of research, it seems this error has nothing to do with my DVD drive but has to do with the SATA Controller Driver. So I try to load the 64bit drivers for the SATA controller and it finds them okay but when i try to install, it says something like "no new devices found". The SATA Driver(s) are the only it ever finds, except for the time I enabled Raid... Then those drivers showed up as well but with the exact same results.
From another forum I was directed to this microsoft page: [URL] and the resolution says: "To workaround this issue, disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS. Typically the controller has to be changed from AHCI mode to "IDE" or "ATA" mode. "
My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard. However, I can not find anyway to change the setting from AHCI mode to IDE or ATA. As far as I can tell, nothing in my bios allows me to change that setting... or at best it's unapparent.
I have had windows 7 installed on my PC for over a year now with multiple fresh installations and no problems.Lately I have been experiencing difficulties with my windows. In the past 5 months though,I've had to re-install windows as for the third time now, my PC starts hanging soon after start up. It's not due to any process; also, it doesn't happen in safe mode.This time, the problem reoccurred within 3-4 days of a fresh installation.It hangs a couple of times and eventually starts showing a repair due to winload.exe fail error..windows restarts after the login screen automatically. Now safe mode or repair panel also doesn't work, it restarts in between.
As I tried to install it this time, i booted from the installation pen drive which I've used before, with a setup I've run before. Upon booting from pen drive, it shows windows loading files bar....but right after that,after the windows 7 logo appears for a couple of seconds, it ends up displaying the cursor only and rest of the screen is gray/black. This happens every time i try to run windows installation.
* I have no HDMI cables connecting my monitor, nor any other display devices.
* I've tried resetting the BIOS to no avail.
* I've used an Nvidia 8600gt card for about 5 years without such black screen problems, then again it is 5 years old.
* Right before windows stopped working, I uninstalled my nvidia drivers manually to see if wrong drivers were the issue, pc still hung up.
I currently install windows 7 from a usb 2.0 stick. And the installs go reasonably fast. But, I would like to begin to use a usb 3.0 stick to do the same job.
Would I have to load usb 3.0 drivers during the initial stage in windows setup where you would normally load raid or sata drivers? Or would I need to alter the installation media somehow?
i have this problem that while downgrading from windows 7 ultimate to windows xp sp2 i encountered this problem. I used a usb bootable since my dvd drive is broken.Here's what i did:
1. Reformatted drive C so as to delete windows 7 ultimate.
2. Re partitioned drive C into 2 where i have a previous drive which is drive D as my file drive.
3. Installed windows xp on 1st partitioned as a part of drive C.
as the installation goes my laptop has turned off so i have to repeat the same thing and so i tried it on the 2nd partitioned part of drive c. but i noticed that my drive D turned out to be the drive C now.After this situation i found it wrong to downgrade my OS so i'm planning to install windows 7 professional. But what should i do now when i have two repartitioned drive with windowx xp (not fully installed since it got error because of downgrade) turns out to be that my laptop doesn't have a running OS.
1. What will happen to my drive D that became drive C? will i able to recover my files?What will happen if i deleted both xp on repartitioned drives? will it became drive C again?
2. Though my drive is not the C anymore, should i continue reformatting? will it not affect my files? (as drive D became the drive c)
3. Will my bootable usb with windows 7 prof. proceed on installing on the other drive? ( i want to prevent it from installing on my drive D that became drive C because i have to recover my files)
4. Is there any other way that i could return the drive d as drive d again as it become the drive c?
5. Is there any configuration for bootable usb that will help?

(model: s5213w) i am upgrading my hard drive but my power supply is limited to having just one hard drive installed at a time. when i put the new one in i ran the disks given to me by HP. the first half of the installation works fine (the part where im putting all the diff cd's in) then it says to remove all cd's and windows will automatically start installing the software. (it may take up to 3 hours). then a black screen comes on. kinda like comand prompt and the cursor line just flashes. three hours later. same deal. any help on this issue? its SATA btw.. idk if that makes a difference.What im trying to install is windows 7 on a Brand New WD5000AAKX (western digital) hard drive. ive used these cds before on my previous hard drive (which came with widows 7 on them from HP) and they worked fine to re install windows 7. The paper that came with the cds from HP say to use them when you want to "upgrade to a new hard disk drive"do i have to create a partition inside it or something? i jsut put the blank hard drive in because i dont have the power supply hookup for 2...
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Uncle bought a new HDD and wanted to migrate his Windows 7 Installation from its original HDD to the new one (Maxtor to Hitachi). A tech friend of mine recommended CloneZilla, a freeware imaging program which would allow me to make an image of the HDD and transfer it to another drive. My only experience with imaging programs previously was with Symantec Ghost.
Even then, I never made the images, only applied them via a server. The version of CloneZilla I have is meant to work on singular machines and has the ability to make an image and write it to an HDD and then read an image and apply it to an HDD. OR you can do a device to device image transfer. I tried the device to device transfer to transfer the OS, but was told, when booting the computer, that the HDD didn't have an OS to boot.
When I tried doing a repair with the Windows 7 CD to see what was up, it couldn't locate an OS to repair. I then tried making an HDD image backup to a Storage drive. However, after that finished, I loaded CloneZilla again and tried to use the image to apply it to the new drive and, when I clicked on the folder housing the image, was told there was no image to apply.
My dvd drive was working till the installation dvd was booted. After that once Windows 7 started, I tried putting many dvd's in but they all say "Please insert a disk in Drive d:" and tray opens up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop which has a ATA HDD and I tried to install Windows 7 on it, but when you come to the window for choosing a partition, nothing shows up. I have tried to upload new drivers for the chipset on the motherboard from intel (Intel 865 Chipset) but no luck still it doesn't do anything. I am able to find the drivers and I guess it installs them but in the end nothing. So my second attempt was to try and bypass this. I took another laptop and pluged in the hdd there and tried the installation, everything went smooth, when the first restart was prompted I took out the HDD and plugged it in my comp. Now windows starts up but only up to the logo and than restarts, over and over. I tried to install all over again but it still doesn't recognize the HDD on my laptop.
