I want to read and record stories for my grandchildren to put on cd for Christmas. WHen I use the wondows 7 sound recorder, I sound so far away. I have tried to use a gaming headset with a microphone also but still, it's barely audible.. How I can make this recording clear, and loud?
View 1 RepliesI have volume set around 8% and for some reason it is way louder than on Vista. On Vista I usually have it around 22% when I use headphones. On Windows 7 RC it's extreme loud when I set it to 22%. Anyway to fix this? I tried everything in the sound properties.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem since windows vista, in windows xp i could record my line in perfectly, without any problems, but now, even if i enabled Stereo mix(tried mono also) it won't make any sound when i try playing some music.
Anyony that can help me with this?
Also, as stated in the title, i'm using an USB sound card device.
I used to be able to record sound. I used to have a vista system and was never able to record sound (what I you hear i.e. streaming sound) so as soon as I got my new windows 7 laptop it was the first thing I checked. I have selected the SoundMix as my default device, I did that when I first got the laptop and as I said I was able to record the streaming sound, now I cannot however and looking at the recording devices, everything is set to default and as the guide shows. I used Roemer software free HiQ recorder because it shows the levels when sound can be detected by the software (the left and right levels move up and down showing that sound is being detected) and nothing is showing there at all. The levels don't move. The built in sound recorder doesn't record anything either and the volume level box is completely empty.
Is their some other setting or properties that has some how switched off or muted or something? I have been through the RealTek HD Audio panel and tested everything. I do have sound, I can listen to music so its not like I have no sound entirely. Also I have an inbuilt microphone in the lid of the laptop and it's on. If I tap the mic hole on the lid you can hear it is on and the sound recorders don't record even the sound of my tapping the mic! Again, I used to be able to record sound and now I cannot! In the living room we have a desktop with the same sound card, RealTek HD Audio on Windows 7 and that records sound as well.
This is a annoying loud continuous beeping sound. This happens after the boot diagnostics, at the point where windows should boot up. There is a cursor in the upper right corner, and that is all it does.This is a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC. It came with Windows Vista, and I am upgrading to Windows 7. I stupidly didn't run upgrade advisor, and am now regretting it.When I go to HP to find drivers, no Windows 7 drivers show up for this PC. Stupidly, again, I assumed this meant that they were packaged in with Windows 7.I don't think this is a hardware issue. It happens repeatedly at boot up, but when I put the installation CD in, the PC boots off the CD just fine. This probably doesn't eliminate any hard drive issues, but the PC wasn't showing any signs before, and the installation goes through without a hitch. Is this caused by not having compatible drivers? Are there computers that can't be upgraded? I do meet the minimum requirements. 2.4 Ghz, 3 GB Ram. What may I be missing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with Windows 7 on a Dell Optiplex 755, but teh issue is with the System Volume setting. When I go to the audio mixer and do the test and configuration, the SoundMax audio level is loud and clear. The problem is with the Windows system settings somewhere, is there a limiter or cap setting in teh registry that I can set to maximum? I know that it is not the standard slide bars/levels but somewhere that Windows 7 Professional is cutting the volume on any Windows application. The drivers are fine, if I invoke the card directly it will blast the sound out. But in any application it is too soft.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed a new Creative "Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1095" soundcard. I disabled the old on-board card. Note: It's USB. When I start-up, shutdown, sleep or wake, I get a very loud POP thru the speakers.I contacted Creative and they told me this is "normal" because Windows 7 is polling the USB input to see if there is anything connected. This doesn't sound right, because it happens when I shutdown or sleep, too! Why would Windows poll a usb input while shutting down or going to sleep?

Next time I recorded a sound I carelessly plugged the mic into the earphone socket. Naturally I was unable to play back a previously recorded sound so I fiddled with the settings (I'm descended from a long line of idiots). Then the penny dropped and I plugged the mic into the correct socket, now because of my fiddling I can't record clips that will play back. I can play back my earlier clips.

It was working fine yesterday apart from the networking which I now have operative. However:Yesterday the attached USB soundcard was working fine when activated for both playback and record. Today it isn't.t is available in the USB dropdown as unknown device. Attaching it allows me to hear external sounds.Releasing it stops the sounds, so it is being recognised at some level or other.System sounds come through the host machine's sound system.There is only an 'MS RDP Audio Device' in Control Panel|Sounds for playback; there is no record.Yesterday it was a (virtual) Soundblaster with the USB device available as an alternative in both Record and Playback.The USB SC is a good quality device with a combined Mic and Digital input and a stereo output. Although there is a USB expansion card fitted to the host machine, the USB sound device is not on it

I have some in-product sound card that came from Dell so I've been told it may not be possible. But I've found free software that does record in the same exact way that "Stereo Mix" would. Is there any universal sound drivers out there that would add "Stereo Mix" as an option?

It tells me that I have USB devices that are not working and says under Device Manager Other Systems that: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
But when I try to update the driver it says: "Windows was unable to install your Base System Device. Windows could not find the driver software for your device. If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for drivers software."
Well. It's Dell. And when I run a dell pc check it tells me that everything is fine.
I am having a problem with my Acer aspire s3 ultrabook (i7 2637 4GB ram running windows 7 home premium 64 bit).The fan is on all the time, really loud and noisy, and the laptop is usually heating up too rapidly, and the battery life is less than 1 hour on power saving mode!! I don't know how it became this way, but I think that I once downloaded the windows 8 preview, installed it, but nothing happened, and I could not detect it on the control panel or in my hard-drive, it just disappeared, and my laptop has not been well eversince. I am not sure If I want to restore it or if I have a restoration point before the problem, but I have important software I do not want to lose.

The first night, when I got in, I was unable to access my wireless network. I had to get the enryption key to log in. Haven't needed that since setup.

Every time I start it up, it starts in "Windows Boot Manager" and makes me select Windows 7 as my operating system. That's annoying in it's self (why won't it just start on it's own! It's not like I'm running another operation system as well!) but what's even worse, as the text is appearing on the screen, a loud obnoxious beep sounds with each word that appears! I checked to make sure no keys are stuck, so it's not that. Once I choose Windows 7, I'm able to sign in with no problem.

Now I want to format my laptop. I have all the 80 + updates/patches downloaded and installed Everything is working good. My main partition is Drive C (system/boot/active) and I have an image backup of it stored on another drive My data partition is Drive D and I have file backups for it on another drive Issues. All is good except on restarts, I get chkdsk / drive consistency problems. In the event I cannot clear out the errors, I may need to reformat Question - Which, if any, of the two options should I go with.
OPTION 1
1) Boot from Win 7 OEM DVD
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean.
4) But then blow away the WIn 7 version and recover Win 7 SP1 from the image backup
Or Option 2
1) Boot from WIn 7 OEM DVD (same as Option 1)
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format (same as Option 1)
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean. (same as Option 1)
4) And then continue from there ,ie start all over again to reload all the windows updates.
For Firefox 17, "Clear recent history"+"Everything"+All boxes selected sometimes does not clear all history of recently closed tabs & windows . I really don't know why but somebody said some of my installed plugins may make this error occurred.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI as far as I can remember have never had this loud noose before, but lately for a month or so? Ish? I've been having a series of loud noises from my pc, so loud that I can hear it even when playing BF3 with a headset! And so violent at times I can feel the keyboard vibrating lightly, and if I touch the PC it is vibrating decently softly.I may be wrong but it seems it started after BF3, and thought it might be the fan or my PC really struggling with the game, but it does it even when I'm not playing. It's sometimes just a softer sound, then will accelerate to a "burr, burr, burr" then go full auto into "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" occasionally very loud. So here's the REALLY scary part: while playing Skyrim a very weird thing happened: it stopped. The sound of the game looped into a "drrrrrrrrrr" and I had to hold down the off button. Nothing else did anything. I rebooted and tested it again...sure enough: 30 seconds in I had to do the same thing. I gave it one last chance and decided I would try to discern if it did anything else notable, but the third time it was fine. I left the game open a while to see if it'd do it again, but it didn't.So I'm scared. WTH is wrong with my PC? BTW it is kinda low on disc space...if that matters. Also the disc options are gone when I click on documents under the c drive and stuff...then again I had installed virtual drives..

I replaced the Q6600 to a Q9650 CPU and now my heatsink and fan is running super fast and loud even though the temps stay in the 40 degree range. I checked into the BIOS and I'm not seeing anything to change it besides a few very unclear options that I've tried and has done nothing. The BIOS are Intel and the motherboard is a DG33SXG2.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy printer is a HP Deskjet F4400 series, bought it March of 2010, and lately it has been making noises. It only happens when I turn it on or when I start printing. The best way to describe it is it is like a loud rattling sound. It lasts only 2-3 seconds, and it's not heard of again until I do another printing, or if I turn it off and then it it on again.It doesn't affect the prints I make, and I checked inside I don't know if anything is wrong inside (I wouldn't know anyways given my lack of knowledge), it's just this loud sound that lasts a couple of seconds. Is there a way to check it on my control panel or something?
