View 2 Repliesit is a week or so that I have a problem with my PC.When I shut down the PC, instead of turning off, he restart. Before restarting, for a brief moment I can see a BSOD screen, but I cannot read it.After the PC restart, I see a small window telling me that the PC was restored due to an error. [code] A week and a half ago, I installed two add-on cards ( a PCI USB card and a PCIE USB 3.0 card), and with the PCI I has troubles to make it run, so I uninstalled it and I sent it back to the store. With the USB 3.0 instead everything was fine.I dont know if this is related to the problem I have right now.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust as the title suggests. After i press restart, it's stuck at "shutting down" for about 10 minutes (looks idle), and then there's a momentary BSOD and a restart. After it restarts, it gives me the option to start windows normally or in a safe mode.My OS is Windows 7 64 bit.Quad core 2.5GHZGforce 560 2GB4 GB RAM
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new battery in an Acer travelmate 5720. It has a BRAND NEW battery in it. at 50% power, the laptop dies as if the battery is totally drained. Will not even post to bios. Just dead.I adjusted the settings for the battery in windows to alert and shut down the computer at 50% to save whataver data is there, but this is not a good fix. There are no settings in the bios for adjusting the battery. What is going on in windows to cause this?I've read thru the threads and saw a lot of people with this problem only to be told that it's their battery or the laptop, and blah blah blah. Anything but Windows 7.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP dv6 laptop. The operating system is windows 7, 64 bit. I've had it less than a week. The power option I have set on it (default) calls for the system to go into the sleep mode after 20 minutes(closing the lid). I don't even see any option available to select that would shut the computer down after a certain time. The problem is, after having not used the laptop for approx. 12-14 hours, when I am ready to use it again, it has shut itself down. I don't know why it doesn't stay in the sleep mode.Any ideas why the laptop is shutting down? It's not overheating because I keep it in a cool room and the air flow around it is not restricted.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.

My problem is that it keeps shutting down and I cant find the problem.I dont think its overheating because I opened it up and the fan was working fine and there was no dust in the fan or heat sink but I sprayed it down with some dust off anyway. I even tried taking it outside in some cold weather to see. I tried a fresh windows 7 install but that still didn't work.It shuts off plugged in or running on battery to.
I have a habit of leaving my laptop on all the time, it's plugged into power. What is too long to leave a laptop running? How many times should I shut down or restart it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I just bought a used HP dv7 laptop. It came with a Dell charger and was able to charge fine. I use my laptop as my home computer so its always plugged in. Since I always keep it plugged in, I removed the battery so over time it wouldnt kill the battery life. So everything runs good, but I also like to play games on my laptop. when I do my laptop shuts off. I thought it might be my laptop crashing, but I noticed that the small light on the charger was off. I unplugged the charger from the wall socket and plugged it back in and the light came back on and my laptop powered up. The charger was very very hot. So I pointed a fan at it and played the game again, but it shut off again. I thought it had to do with the dell charger and the HP laptop, So I bought a brand new HP charger. But it still does the same thing, the charger shuts off.
Is there some settings I have to change? or something wrong with my laptop?

My new ASUS laptop will not shut down. I saw a thread a couple of days ago where a Richc46 said to try disconnecting the internet connection and then trying to shut down and if that worked he knew how to fix it. However, the thread ended there. I tried this and disconnecting the internet connection worked.I think Richc46 said it was something to do with the device manager, but I may be remembering that wrong. All of the other shut down menu options work (hibernate, sleep, restart, etc), it just won't shut down and restarts instead.I had tried the disconnection of the internet and it worked and successfully shut down ONCE. I just tried it again and it is restarting like it had been, so it's not as easy as just stopping the internet connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my laptops battery reaches critical it will usually hibernate as all of them do. When it's switched back on it'll give you the option to do a system resume. The past 3 times it hasn't though, it has brought up the black screen saying windows didn't shut down properly, and giving me the options to start in safe mode etc.

Obviously, I need to get the keyboard replaced, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to restart the computer without using the keyboard? I am currently stuck on the Windows Error Recovery screen and since the enter key doesn't work, I can't get it to start normally, in safe mode, etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile playing on my laptop (SDGO SEA) my laptop suddenly goes black for a long period of time and I decided to restart. Selected "Start Windows Normally" and after the Windows Logo ("Windows is starting") the screen suddenly goes black again like what I had experienced earlier (black I mean black-black, the monitor LEDs do not light up) then the hard drive LED blinks off for about a second, blinks on, off again, then on, and the computer restarts. This repeats whenever I select that mode (I can't seem to see the "Load Last Good Configuration" option). Safe Mode works though (I'm using it to post right now). I tried System Restore but with no luck.:(
I'm not very pro at reformatting, or very familiar on reinstallign Windows (I also don't have a Win7 DVD) so please bear with me XD

I have a HP labtop and my laptop froze all of a sudden so I did a hard restart of the computer. After restarting the computer I am no longer able to boot my computer up, the screen will go black sometimes after the log in screen. But now I do not even get the option to go to the log in screen now it just goes to the startup recovery stage. Everytime I try to fix start up I get startup repair off line following by the details of 0.00000 or something like that. The numbers are all zeros in the details but I tried other options like restoring to a previous point and I keep getting errors.

Windows seems to be shutting down, and then the screen goes black but the laptop is still running. Restart does not work unless i've installed something that requires a restart. It will not restart if i choose the option from the shutdown menu. I've tried to update all my drivers and i also updated the BIOS, with no luck. I have also tried to do a clean boot and uninstalling some programs that might be causing this.[CODE]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus K50IN laptop, which I recently took apart to clean it from dust, during that I screwed apart the cooling system, hard drive, SD card reader chip and CD/DVD-player device. (And I just took them apart from the PC, not individually apart, so that I could just be able to reach more places inside laptop's interior.) Then I put everything back the way they were, and also applied new thermalpaste to CPU and GPU. When I turn the PC on, it goes OK, works all the way 100%, but when I restart it, it boots 'til the Asus logo, but then suddenly shuts down, when I start it up again from Power switch, it also dies at almost the same spot, and this process continues as long as I restart it right after previuous crash. Now the interesting part is that when I let my laptop rest for a couple of minutes for example, or even couple of tenths seconds, it starts OK, and everything works. But as soon as I want to restart, this scenario happens again.I have freshly formated Windows 7 which worked just fine, but then I took it apart, and this restart-startup problem occoured. And when it wants to shutdown then it will, it doesn't matter if I reach BIOS menu, or boot menu, with F2, F12 keys on my pc. I have done startup repair but no use.
