I have an Asus P50iJ Laptop,heres a link to it Newegg.com - ASUS P50IJ-X2 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core T4400(2.20GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel GMA 4500M
My problem is that it keeps shutting down and I cant find the problem.I dont think its overheating because I opened it up and the fan was working fine and there was no dust in the fan or heat sink but I sprayed it down with some dust off anyway. I even tried taking it outside in some cold weather to see. I tried a fresh windows 7 install but that still didn't work.It shuts off plugged in or running on battery to.
today my pc has randomly shutted itself down 4times. first 2 happened when i was on Internet, and the last 2 when playing, minecraft and dungeon defenders! anyway, had this for ages and no problems. today the crashing started, it says nothing. it just shuts itself down. i tried looking at windows logs but found nothing.
specs:
os: microsoft windows 7 home premium 64-bit 7601 multiprocessor free service pack cpu: amd athlon(tm) ii x3 425 processor motherboard: pegatron corporation - violet6 ram: 6gb.
it might be because of overheating. its 10+ hours a day on and its summer and freaking hot, i don't know

I have a problem with my win 7 computer randomly shutting down. I experienced overheating from graphic card and CPU or a bad HDD where the computer would just freeze and shut down (from my other computers), but this one shuts down as if I clicked on 'shut down' button on my start tab.
It closes my open applications first then shows 'logging off' screen to 'shutting down' screen and than shuts down. This happens pretty randomly. I use this computer mainly for web surfing and watching videos. I never use it for gaming. Sometimes it would shut down within 5 minute of usage and some other times it would not shut down at all for hours.
Its a HP compaq machine with 2.7ghz AMD Sempron, 2GB SDRAM, and Window 7 home premium 64bit. I added a Radeon HD X1300 graphic card and been using it for about 2 years without problem.
I ran all diagnostic programs and ran Malwarebyte AntiMalware and Microsoft Security Essential and found no problem. CPUID HWmonitor showed all components were around 30-45 degrees. My only guess left is the power supply.
so recently my computer's been shutting itself down randomly and i noticed this happened when im surfing the net (with firefox). It just did it again 2 times in the last 30minutes and now im on chrome. It would usually black out for 1 second then the BSOD comes on for another 1s then the screen totally blacks out like theres no system unit connected to it and yet the sound coming from the unit can only indicate its still running!is something burning out in my computer or is it just firefox? on windows 7 btw, computer bought in june 2010.Ran memtest and after 7 passes and 7 hours there were no errors.
Recently my computer randomly shuts off, then it tries to turn itself on by itself and it keeps rapidly turning on and off like simultaneously, after like 10 sec it finally shuts off, during the on and off process the power light blinks yellow to white. It can take little as 3 hours before it happens to a whole day, so during all that time i am mostly playing WoW or League of Legends, so the 3 hours to a day seems odd in when it does it. It only happens when i am watching a movie or show or playing a game. If i just leave my computer alone it never does it. I have a cpu temp program and gpu temp program and the temps are no where near the max temp.

This is in reference to my first post. I did not give a link to where you could find what my problem is. I only found he "edit" icon only after I posted this notice.
I have problem on laptop toshiba A300D with windows 7, 32bit premium.I had vista and there was no problem, after i decided to upgrade to "better"It sometimes crash few times in one time and another time it run like 5 hours without problems.
i have a basic, stock HP Pavilion m8109n PC. I moved about a month ago and out of no where it started randomly shutting off with NO BSOD, most commonly when I'm watching a movie, browsing the internet, or doing any day-to-day tasks. I'm fairly familiar with all things computer, but not having any BSOD to work with inhibited me from easily diagnosing the problem. I did a clean install of Windows, but it kept crashing. I assumed this meant it's the hardware. My first thought was heat. I checked the temperatures on all the sensorseverything from a cold start to seconds before it crashedbut all the temperatures were within range, even under heavy load. It doesn't seem to crash as frequently or at all when I leave the computer idle; it only seems to crash when I'm doing something on it. But assuming the sensor readouts are accurate, I moved on. The only way to successfully reproduce the crash is to plug in my D-LINK USB Wireless Network adapter. I have no idea why this causes it to crash, as it happens with or without software/drivers installed, but it does. I figured this might mean it's the power supply. I bought a new one, plugged it in, but the crashes still happened. It wasn't the power supply.
I received my new system yesterday, and it works amazing well. Unfortunately, at random times, the computer will freeze for 15-30 ish seconds, then shut down and not restart. When i restart the system, i get the option to boot in safe mode. I choose to boot normally.
Basically I have an HP Pavilion a6230n desktop. It's about 5-7 years old now. The specs are AMD Athlon x2 5600 processor, 3GB of Ram, nvidia Geforce 6150 SE nForce 430, 15-in 1 card reader and light scribe cd/DVD drive. It's operating system is windows 7 professional 32 bit at the moment (before my reinstall last night, it was windows ultimate 64 bit) and the computer came as a factory default of windows vista 32 bit.
Basically for some time now (4 months now) my computer has been shutting down at random times wether it's being in use doing little things such as watching videos, browsing and etc or being on but not being used. I think it is not a overheating program because At times, i have let the computer to cool down, before I boot it up and wether it being on for 5 minutes, it will shut down randomly. Even at times while the computer is booting up as soon as the windows 7 loading screen is gone. It will shut down.
For the last 2-3 hours i've been experiencing random shutdowns. No visual cues, no BSOD, just shuts down. here are my specs (computer only 6months old);
Mobo - MSI 870 G45 CPU: Phenom x4 955 RAM: 12GB DDR3-1600MHz GPU: AMD Radeon HD6670 HDD: Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKS PSU: Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus RS500-PCARD3 500-Watt
Win 7 home premium 64bit
No overclocks, only BIOS settings changed were the voltages on my ram (over a month ago) edit: thinking it might be my PSU failing... should i just buy another one? if so what would be compatible>?
btw, eventviewer doesn't point to anything specific just says the shutdown was unexpected and i ran sfc scannow already.
Starting earlier today, my internet randomly stopped working on my main PC, though I could still connect and it would work fine on my laptop/phone/tablet/etc. I ran a full McAfee scan which found nothing, and after a couple restarts and unplugging my modem/router, it happened again now. When I try to shut my PC down, it goes to the normal vista "Shutting down" screen, stays there for about 5 or so minutes, and then I get a BSOD.
i hope im posting in the right place. For the past 3 weeks my computer has had me so frustrated i dont know what to do. First off it started off just randomly powering off. Which got worse and worse. So we took it apart and made sure everything was clean and dust free etc. Now its not powering off as much but its freezing. Freezing alot. When it freezes you cant do anything. No cntl alt delete, you cant even move the mouse. Its like complete freeze. Also everytime it freezes when i try to restart the computer it hangs in bios about 5 times until finally after restarting it 5 more times i can make it back into windows. It keeps doing it and i have tried almost everything i can think of. I know its not overheating because i have been checking the tempurture of everything on the computer everyday. Everything is running super cool.
I have not made any HW changes or installed any new SW or driver The system is on a mild OC of 3.4Ghz Also i am using MSE and Comodo firewall The reliability monitor shows that "Windows was not properly shutdown"
I'm using Acer Aspire 5742g (if i not mistaken) with WIN7 now...but recently my lappy keep shut down by itself..at first(a few days before it happen),it keep telling that "Dekstop Window Manger has stopped working" but when I ask my friend he said it wont make that effect to my lappy..he said it maybe because of overheating but sometimes my lappy can on for a long time but i have to on & on it again & again..I try to repair my windows but unfortunately,i cant do that because it will keep shudown by itself....when I check Device Manager,i detect that Intel(R) Management Engine cannot start..
I have a new HP dv6 laptop. The operating system is windows 7, 64 bit. I've had it less than a week. The power option I have set on it (default) calls for the system to go into the sleep mode after 20 minutes(closing the lid). I don't even see any option available to select that would shut the computer down after a certain time. The problem is, after having not used the laptop for approx. 12-14 hours, when I am ready to use it again, it has shut itself down. I don't know why it doesn't stay in the sleep mode.Any ideas why the laptop is shutting down? It's not overheating because I keep it in a cool room and the air flow around it is not restricted.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.
I have a habit of leaving my laptop on all the time, it's plugged into power. What is too long to leave a laptop running? How many times should I shut down or restart it?
So I just bought a used HP dv7 laptop. It came with a Dell charger and was able to charge fine. I use my laptop as my home computer so its always plugged in. Since I always keep it plugged in, I removed the battery so over time it wouldnt kill the battery life. So everything runs good, but I also like to play games on my laptop. when I do my laptop shuts off. I thought it might be my laptop crashing, but I noticed that the small light on the charger was off. I unplugged the charger from the wall socket and plugged it back in and the light came back on and my laptop powered up. The charger was very very hot. So I pointed a fan at it and played the game again, but it shut off again. I thought it had to do with the dell charger and the HP laptop, So I bought a brand new HP charger. But it still does the same thing, the charger shuts off.
Is there some settings I have to change? or something wrong with my laptop?
I'm not sure when this has been going on since I usually shut my computer off and go to bed without looking twice at the screen but upon shutting off my computer yesterday, this blue screen appeared:
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILUREIf this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen.Restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:Check to make sure any new hardware or software or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. My new ASUS laptop will not shut down. I saw a thread a couple of days ago where a Richc46 said to try disconnecting the internet connection and then trying to shut down and if that worked he knew how to fix it. However, the thread ended there. I tried this and disconnecting the internet connection worked.I think Richc46 said it was something to do with the device manager, but I may be remembering that wrong. All of the other shut down menu options work (hibernate, sleep, restart, etc), it just won't shut down and restarts instead.I had tried the disconnection of the internet and it worked and successfully shut down ONCE. I just tried it again and it is restarting like it had been, so it's not as easy as just stopping the internet connection.
I have a brand new battery in an Acer travelmate 5720. It has a BRAND NEW battery in it. at 50% power, the laptop dies as if the battery is totally drained. Will not even post to bios. Just dead.I adjusted the settings for the battery in windows to alert and shut down the computer at 50% to save whataver data is there, but this is not a good fix. There are no settings in the bios for adjusting the battery. What is going on in windows to cause this?I've read thru the threads and saw a lot of people with this problem only to be told that it's their battery or the laptop, and blah blah blah. Anything but Windows 7.
My laptop is pretty new and just recently, it's started shutting down suddenly when it's installing windows updates with no notice whatsoever. Both times, I've lost everything I've been working on.fill me in on why this is now happening and most importantly, what can be done to stop it from shutting off.
When my laptops battery reaches critical it will usually hibernate as all of them do. When it's switched back on it'll give you the option to do a system resume. The past 3 times it hasn't though, it has brought up the black screen saying windows didn't shut down properly, and giving me the options to start in safe mode etc.
