View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Lenovo Ideapad g460 windows 7 home premium. From last 3 days it just hangs without showing any error, most of the time the screen is black with all the lights on. I try to press ctrl+alt+del but nothing works not a single key except the power button works.
I have check my even viewer only one error I have found most of the time this error is there Event ID 7026 with following details The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: TPPWRIF. I have tried to find this file TPPWRIF in my system but its not there. I was using preinstalled Mcafee AV but now I am using BitDefender (paid) AV. I am also using IObit Security 360.
Just as the title suggests. After i press restart, it's stuck at "shutting down" for about 10 minutes (looks idle), and then there's a momentary BSOD and a restart. After it restarts, it gives me the option to start windows normally or in a safe mode.My OS is Windows 7 64 bit.Quad core 2.5GHZGforce 560 2GB4 GB RAM
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like a way to program my notebook computer to 'turn off' not 'shut down' when I press the power button, like a desktop computer would. In Windows 7, there does not appear to be that option available in the list of available options under 'Power options'.
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer keeps shutting itself down with the following error message:
"Power surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS anti-surge was triggered to protect the system from unstable power.......(see below for photo of screen).
So I bought a UPS in the hopes of controlling the flow of power to my computer. Unfortunately that didn't work so I assumed that the power supply unit must be broken. I have replaced it and I am still getting the crash/error. So I simply disabled the feature on teh motherboard that controls anti-surge protection and now my computer simply crashes and powers down.
I have checked the event logs and noticed this being logged right before the crash every time:
"File System Filter 'aswSnx' (6.0, 2012-03-07T01:04:05.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager."

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP dv6 laptop. The operating system is windows 7, 64 bit. I've had it less than a week. The power option I have set on it (default) calls for the system to go into the sleep mode after 20 minutes(closing the lid). I don't even see any option available to select that would shut the computer down after a certain time. The problem is, after having not used the laptop for approx. 12-14 hours, when I am ready to use it again, it has shut itself down. I don't know why it doesn't stay in the sleep mode.Any ideas why the laptop is shutting down? It's not overheating because I keep it in a cool room and the air flow around it is not restricted.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.

My problem is that it keeps shutting down and I cant find the problem.I dont think its overheating because I opened it up and the fan was working fine and there was no dust in the fan or heat sink but I sprayed it down with some dust off anyway. I even tried taking it outside in some cold weather to see. I tried a fresh windows 7 install but that still didn't work.It shuts off plugged in or running on battery to.
I have a habit of leaving my laptop on all the time, it's plugged into power. What is too long to leave a laptop running? How many times should I shut down or restart it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I just bought a used HP dv7 laptop. It came with a Dell charger and was able to charge fine. I use my laptop as my home computer so its always plugged in. Since I always keep it plugged in, I removed the battery so over time it wouldnt kill the battery life. So everything runs good, but I also like to play games on my laptop. when I do my laptop shuts off. I thought it might be my laptop crashing, but I noticed that the small light on the charger was off. I unplugged the charger from the wall socket and plugged it back in and the light came back on and my laptop powered up. The charger was very very hot. So I pointed a fan at it and played the game again, but it shut off again. I thought it had to do with the dell charger and the HP laptop, So I bought a brand new HP charger. But it still does the same thing, the charger shuts off.
Is there some settings I have to change? or something wrong with my laptop?

My new ASUS laptop will not shut down. I saw a thread a couple of days ago where a Richc46 said to try disconnecting the internet connection and then trying to shut down and if that worked he knew how to fix it. However, the thread ended there. I tried this and disconnecting the internet connection worked.I think Richc46 said it was something to do with the device manager, but I may be remembering that wrong. All of the other shut down menu options work (hibernate, sleep, restart, etc), it just won't shut down and restarts instead.I had tried the disconnection of the internet and it worked and successfully shut down ONCE. I just tried it again and it is restarting like it had been, so it's not as easy as just stopping the internet connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new battery in an Acer travelmate 5720. It has a BRAND NEW battery in it. at 50% power, the laptop dies as if the battery is totally drained. Will not even post to bios. Just dead.I adjusted the settings for the battery in windows to alert and shut down the computer at 50% to save whataver data is there, but this is not a good fix. There are no settings in the bios for adjusting the battery. What is going on in windows to cause this?I've read thru the threads and saw a lot of people with this problem only to be told that it's their battery or the laptop, and blah blah blah. Anything but Windows 7.
