Laptop Is In Restart Loop When Booting (after Windows Logo)
Apr 29, 2012
While playing on my laptop (SDGO SEA) my laptop suddenly goes black for a long period of time and I decided to restart. Selected "Start Windows Normally" and after the Windows Logo ("Windows is starting") the screen suddenly goes black again like what I had experienced earlier (black I mean black-black, the monitor LEDs do not light up) then the hard drive LED blinks off for about a second, blinks on, off again, then on, and the computer restarts. This repeats whenever I select that mode (I can't seem to see the "Load Last Good Configuration" option). Safe Mode works though (I'm using it to post right now). I tried System Restore but with no luck.:(
I'm not very pro at reformatting, or very familiar on reinstallign Windows (I also don't have a Win7 DVD) so please bear with me XD
Btw,
Acer Aspire 4745G
Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-bit
Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 430M
2GB RAM

The problem is that when I boot my PC it will go black and restart after getting to the windows logo boot part. If I try Safe mode it will get to SYSTEM32DRIVERSDISK.SYS and then just bluescreens and restarts again. Before it got to CLASSPNP.SYS but I tried to rename it to CLASSPNP.OLD and now it didn't really change much. I also tried using this code but it just tells me that some files are corrupt and it cannot repair it.If I try the automatic repair option it will just try and repair for a couple of hours and then say it cannot repair and rebooting the PC.

When you turn it on it gets to Windows logo animation and at the beginning of the animation it just restarts.I loaded a Windows 7 image and tried the start-up repair but that gave no results so I thought I'll heck out the bootcat.cache file.

I have had Windows 7 64bit Pro on my computer for around 10 months. I use an Upgrade version through my University that works exactly like a normal copy of Windows 7. I have had no problems with it until now. When I start it up normally and choose Windows 7 (I also have Windows XP pro on my computer) and after about 10 seconds my computer automatically restarts. I tried the Repair My Computer option 3 times and the Last Known Good Configuration twice with no success. When I start it up in Safe Mode, 7 works for about three seconds and then goes to a Blue Screen before restarting.I honestly do not know what is wrong with my computer. I have checked all of the internal connections and there doesn't appear to be anything unplugged or messed up with them in general.

When I tried to boot Windows 7 yesterday, I got a prompt saying that a disk check had been scheduled. I initially thought this got stuck because it seemed to freeze on 10% and the numbers alongside that figure didn't go up. I rebooted my computer and let it start again, after a few hours(!) the disk check finished and started on another of my drives. Again, I let this complete and it eventually rebooted itself. Upon rebooting it however, it did the exact same thing and appears to be in a loop just doing the disk check over and over.
I Googled this and opened the command prompt and checked all my drives (it disk checked f and c) but none are marked as dirty. I ran the command to stop the disk check on all drives anyway but still the problem persists.
Right at the start it says I can cancel the check by pressing any key on the keyboard but for some reason, it doesn't work - not sure if it's not recognising the keyboard or not.
I've also tried to boot into safe mode to see if that bypasses it but that hangs at classpnp.sys so that's a no go right now as well. I tried renaming the file to classpnp.old as a forum suggested but it blue screens and restarts if I do that. I'm currently trying a linux boot cd to replace to file to see if that works.

I attempted to install Windows 7 x64 RC version on my new desktop, and about 20 minutes into the "Complete Installation" section my computer crashed for a reason of which I'm not aware (I saw a blue screen with writing for about a second or two before my computer restarted). I now get the following error after windows attempts to "start services":
"Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation".
I've now clicked "OK" about 10 times, with my computer restarting properly each time, and the same error pops up every time.

So, my computer is stuck in a restart loop. every now and then I see a screen with option to start windows normally or safe mode, but it loops faster then I can hit enter. being a comp guy and knowing enough about comps, tried to load Windows 7 install disk as well as Ubuntu Live Disk.. No luck, loops before they can load. Tried disconnecting everything except CPU, Graphic Card, HDD(3 different), and RAM (1 and all sticks).. No luck there either.

I remember reading about the new 7 booting screen, the colours that seemed to whirl around. Did this make it into the beta?
Only my boot just shows the same as all previous builds and Vista, just the bar on it's own...
If other people have the colourful logo, did you have to activate it in some way?
Just wondering if it's something to do with only running 512Mb RAM...

Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD4870 x2
Running on windows 7 x64 ultimate
I was browsing away and my whole pc froze, with a strange little box around my cursor, although the sound was still working, I force shut down it and restarted and little message popped up saying the display driver has stopped working, I tried multiple things to solve this, to no avail, eventually it kept happening and it got so bad the computer would not start, i tried all of the "F" keys on startup and none worked, eventually i took it to a shop who wiped everything clean and it worked again.
Around 2 months down the line low and behold the same problem happened again, I found a solution and installed a program called driver robot, I used it and installed many outdated drivers, this seemed to fix the problem. For about 6 months, now it has happened again, my computer has now shut down and goes into a constant restart loop, as it is doing this the screens that show up are littered with dots and lines of many colours, I just need workaround on this, preferably without loosing all of my files.

I recently build myself a gaming computer the specs are as follows:
i5 3570k
16GB G.Skill 1600 Mhz
ASRock Extreme4
Evga 750 Watt PSU
Asus GTX 670 2GB
After I Installed all of the drivers for everything but the graphics card it was finally time for that and as soon as I downloaded the newest drivers from Nvidia and restarted my computer I immediately got into a reboot loop and any time I've tried going into safe mode to delete the drivers my computer restarts. On top of all of that there are these red vertical lines all over my monitor.

My young cousin was using the computer (Win 7 in limited user mode) when something happened with the speakers. He thought he could fix the problem by restarting the computer using the on/off button. From what he told me, the computer would not restart normally. The black screen came up where you can select Safe Mode. He selected the start normally option. The computer booted to the desktop and then restarted back to the black screen. I ended up having to use the System Restore option from Safe Mode and everything seemed fine after that. I never really got to check things out properly though.
I'm going to assume that either the system settings or the registry was messed up from the sudden restart when my cousin pressed the on/off button. Would that be correct? Was the proper way to fix this by using the System Restore option? I might have chosen the "last known good configuration" option from the black screen, but it wasn't listed and I don't know if it was listed the first time that screen came up. With all the button pushing that kid did, it's a wonder the computer still works.

I've recently purchased a pre-made desktop. Upon arrival and start up today- I got the window's recovery error screen stating that hardware/software changes may be at fault. I have only the basics plugged in-I have tried unplugging them all and making sure all connections are secure, trying my old graphics card, and even dropping the ram down to 2gb. I cannot start in safe mode, nor window's normally. Whatever I choose, it goes to the window loading screen with the little orbs for about 10 seconds and restarts my computer. And ends up going to the recovery screen again. I have a reinstallation cd, but it wont read it.

So I've got a gateway laptop here that one day was booted up and went to a boot menu screen stating there were errors with the option to launch startup repair. After doing so there has been no sucess, after a looooong process of checking for errors, it says it's unrepairable, says to exit/reboot and goes back to the same screens.
I've tried with a Windows 7 disc in there (vs using the recovery option built into the laptop) and still no success. I've tried restore to an earlier restore point with no success. I've tried to get into safe mode with no success and I've tried the 'last known good configuration' option with no success either!
I booted using 'spinrite' to do a deep check of the HD itself. It gets about 6-7% in and than suddenly completely shuts off! Powers off as if someone yanked the plug. The Cpu area and heatpipes underneath are VERY hot after this point so I suspect it's an overheat protection kicking in, but why it's overheating while running spinrite I can't figure out.
So I removed the HD and have connected it to my PC. It was accessible, could see the win and system folders etc. I right clicked the drive from my PC now and ran 'tools' error-checking. It makes some progress while counting sectors but eventually gets to a certain sector number and hangs there with no further progress of the error check.
At this point I'm planning to just yank any important files off of it (since it's still accessible when plugged into my PC) and reformatting/reinstalling Windows 7 but I am curious, these symptoms, are they synonymous with an imminent drive failure, or is it just a corrupt system?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS, HP G61-304NR laptop is auto rebooting over and over again. I have tried system recover from my recover disks - it did not work. I ordered system recovery disks from HP and had the recover disk reformat the Windows partition (I have a valid backup of this computer).Tried to boot in the following modes:
-Safe Mode
-Safe Mode w/Command Prompt
-Low Res Video
-Disable Driver Signing Enforcement
None of these things work. It appears that the problem may be associated with atipcie.sys driver. I assume this because the safe mode driver boot stops at disk.sys and the next driver that needs to load is atipcie.sys. At that point, the computer goes into windows and then reboots. I cannot get to a command prompt. I have tried to get to a command prompt by booting from the recover disk, by booting through safe mode with command prompt. I cannot get there. The laptop successfully gets through BIOS, and goes to Windows, but then it goes through some command screens (looks like scripts, cscript.exe), but then automatically reboots.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). It's an OEM version..
I bought this laptop from a guy who was a student, and got this laptop from the university he was studying at. When the laptop starts up, a large logo/picture of this university comes up and the boot options appear at the corner of the screen, i.e. F9- Boot Device Menu and F10-ROM Based Setup.
I wish to remove this logo permanently. Also, after getting rid of this, how can I make it show a picture of my own choice?
Note: Tried attaching picture of this screen from my computer but I don't know for what reason the upload fails.

I reformatted my hard drive to install a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit (I had Windows 7 Premium, 64bit before) and the installation ran just fine. After the installation, it boots up to what I guess is the desktop, waits a few moments, then just reboots. Every time before it boots it goes to the "Windows is loading files..." screen. I also tried 32bit, but got the same results. If you need more information, just ask and I'll be glad to provide it for you. A USB stick was used to install.

The screen cracked on my old laptop and my insurance decided it would be cheaper to give me a new one as opposed to fixing it. The new laptop arrived today, along with the hard drive from my old one. I thought it would be simply a case of opening the new laptop up, taking out the hard drive and putting in my old one (note: I turned on the laptop with it's new hard drive first to make sure it worked ok).
However, after doing this and turning on the laptop, I am faced a message saying "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.". I am given 2 options, Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Clicking Start Windows Normally just brings me back to the same screen, and I've tried running the startup repair several times to no avail. Following the instructions at Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery also does not solve the problem.
