Laptop Windows Boot But Freeze At Animated Windows 7 Logo Screen
Jun 28, 2012
i have a desktop computer i used it to install Windows 7 ultimate x86 and i have a laptop i used it to install Windows 7 ultimate x64 the desktop and laptop both support x64 systems, i cloned both computers with Norton ghost and when i restore the cloned image to it's own computer it works with no problem but when i try to restore the image from my laptop to my desktop computer or the image from my desktop to my laptop windows boot but freeze at the animated windows 7 logo screen? i tried to generalize the system with sysprep but i failed cause my computer want start after i used sysprep?
have done a few internet searches on this one, but the things to try that i have come across have not worked in reinstating the nice animated windows logo on start up of windows 7. I appear to have lost it after doing a windows system restore and am now left with the very dull green progress bar which is low res and boring!!
As i say i have tried the bcdedit and bcdboot commands that are listed on many sites as resolving this issue.
Last night, my computer spontaneously rebooted. When it got to the 'Starting Windows' screen, the animated windows logo never appeared. I rebooted. Tried running System Recovery. This time, the screen is "Windows is loading files..." The progress bar fills up and then freezes.
Tried booting into safe mode. Again, the "Windows is loading files" progress bar fills up and then freezes. Tried to reinstall Windows. Boots from DVD, then the "Windows is loading files" progress bar fills up and then freezes yet again. Have been running Memtest86+ for the last ~9 hours, no issues.
I have a 64 bit home premium and am trying to shave a few seconds off the startup time. I want to disable the animated logo at startup so I started msconfig>boot tab> checked the "no gui boot" box but the animation is still there!
I'm trying to get the animated boot screen to work on my home theatre PC, after scouring what feels like the whole of the internet, I can't find a solution to get it to work, and I'm stuck with the Vista scroll bar. I am using an Asus M4A785D-M Motherboard, however I have disabled the onboard graphics and am using an external card (Radeon 4350). This is plugged into my home theatre receiver which in turn is plugged in to my Sony LCD TV (1080p).
I have tried the following commands: bcdedit /set {current} locale en-UK and bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US
In the command prompt. I have also tried a repair installation over the original which has not worked. I've also fiddle with a number of different BIOS settings without any luck. The resolution on the screen seems to be downgraded when the animated boot screen appears (i.e. it was 720p and then goes down to 480p), which seems odd.
I just installed windows 7 pro (clean install from Microsoft's student upgrade program) but it boots with the old vista boot screen! I want the windows 7 boot screen! All the other posts I found on this usually had to do with BCDedit which I have tried but they didn't work. I already checked msconfig and "no GUI boot" is not checked.
Is there a way to add your own animated boot screen to Windows 7 startup? I know it was possible to change the picture on older versions, but this was only a static image.
After I installed Windows 7 64 to dual boot with Win732, and fixed the boot menu to show both options (thanks to those of you that helped with that), I somehow lost the animated boot screen splash. I now have the "Vista" green bar.
trying to solve a problem on a dell inspiron n5010 running windows 7 when you switch it on it goes to the black boot up screen and you are given these options Launch startup repair(recomended) start windows normally
if i select start windows normally it goes to the windows start up logo but eventually freezes then crash to a blue screen than goes off immediatley before i can read the info on screen if i select the launch start up repair it goes to a blue screen with some small pics of leaves on and stays there and does nothing
Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery i have read this but i dont even get the grey option boxes just that blue screen background
i recently install new updates on my laptop , after downloading and installing and asking me to restart my computer ,i did choose to restart now . After booting up again it is now stuck on windows 7 logo screen on startup. I tried booting up on safe mode and last known good config. but it didn't work. Also tried to use windows installation disk but it doesn't work either it just keep loading on "setup is starting" also tried "repair my computer" option but it just show me just a plain black screen
i had a Toshiba satellite laptop l745d with a6 vision AMD graphic card,windows 7 ultimate x64 os , 4gb of ram quadcore
I have an HP desktop with an Asus MB #M2N68-AM SE2.Sometimes it boots normally but lately it may be as long as 10 to 15 minutes to get past the Windows l7 flashing logo.
Laptop couldnt bootup, windows 7 logo would spin halfway before entering system recovery.
System repair, memory diagnostic all did not help. Tried to enter safe mode, but it keeps reverting back to system recovery screen after I hold f8/f5.

I need help and suggestions on what to do with this black screen crisis. Mine is a little different that others. so sorry if this is a repeated thread. ive looked everywhere, and no one has the issue when they have dual boot.I have dual boot on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and windows 7 home premium 64 bit. the home premium came pre installed on the laptop and the ultimate version i installed later dual boot (i needed some capabilities that home premium doesn't have).I cannot see anything on my screen after windows logo while booting up my laptop bcz of the black screen after the windows logo. When i boot into WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. i hear windows logon screen notification noise but see nothing! oddly enough even my built in webcam logs me in with VeriFace software with my face, passwordless! ALSO my laptop boots fine with windows 7 ultimate and i can see everything, and it works great! i need the other version to WORK cause my life is in that other version of windows. i cannot factory restore!!!
What i have tried: the keyboard is also unresponsive, bcz i held down a bunch of keys to see if it makes the beep noise. I closed the laptop lid to see if it goes into hibernation and waited 3 mins to see if it still does, so that when i open it i can see everything (it has worked before). nothing. i rebooted a bunch of times even with a second screen attached, tried to guess switch into projector mode with my function key and switch screen/projector button. i have also done a power cycle. i think the registry is screwed, or maybe the graphics card drivers are ruined. have not done a registry repair through the other windows version (doing that next). i have defragged both partitions for both of the windows 7 versions through the one that works. What may have caused it: the last time i used home premium, i rebooted so that i can use the ultimate version (for the extra capabilities). i was not watching and it booted up in home premium, and the built in cam is so fast that i merely looked at the laptop and it logged me in. i was being unpatient, bcz you have to wait for the lenovo programs to load before you can restart. so i forced shut down (very bad idea) by holding the power button and booted up in ultimate finally while watching.
I'm having trouble installing windows on a new rig I just built. I'm not sure if its a driver error or maybe some other hardware error I'm overlooking. Here's the problem I'm encountering. I've tried to install 3 different windows. Windows 7 64bit(burned), Windows 7 32bit (burned), Windows Vista OEM. Upon the fresh install my computer goes to the "Loading files from disk" than will try to boot up to the install. When the boot up screen comes on with the horizontal bar it freezes after about 10-15 seconds, then nothing.I have 3 hard drives I've tried to install every copy on (2 SATA HDDs, and a SSD). Same symptom. My old HDD with windows still on it, I tried to boot it up and it still freezes(shouldn't boot up anyway right?). When I try to load safemode on the HDD with windows on it, I am able to. I tried installing the Vista copy through this method and it is successful until the PC reboots during the install and freezes back up bootup. This made me think it was a driver error.
I also mistakenly tried installing windows with no HDD's attached to the motherboard.. That also made it to the bootup screen, but froze(duh) at the bootup screen too. So from that mistaken test, could this be a hardware issue if its freezing at the same spot with and without the HDD? [code]I've also tried removing the video card and using the onboard video, leaving only one stick of ram in, and I've swapped ram from another PC to test(can't remember the model ram). I haven't tried swapping the dvd drive yet. I've read places that a heatsink could be causing this problem, but if I can get into safe mode on an old windows install could it be hardware such as the heatsink/cpu, or just drivers?
I am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual. It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.
Windows 7 Home Premium: My Boot usually takes about 30 -40 seconds; every once in a while after windows screen boot delays 60 -75 seconds before sign in (this has happened several times and eventually (days or weeks)seems to correct). I have checked drivers, run check disc, memory diagnostics, system restore, driver backup restore, registry errors, System File Checker, etc everything checks out. I have run a boot trace but don't know how to read the results.
I'm having an issue with a newer pc laptop. Win 7 dual-core etc. During use the screen begins to flicker black every couple seconds. I've seen this before and it turned out to be an over-heating issue. I believe that is not the case in this situation.
Im having screen freezes every couple of days. My whole computer just freeze what its doing.Been
-on word -on a game -watching movies -transfering data
So no specifi thing sets it off.Cant alt-cnt-delete.Its like a screen shot of my computer and watching a picture. Cant even move the mouse. My keyboard can change colours via buttons on it (logitech g110). I cant even change the colours coz its like the whole pc is in a time freeze..Due to this i dont get an "windows had an unexpected error" message when i restart the computer...
I have a 7 month old Gateway desktop I got from Best Buy. Not long after getting it I replaced the power supply and put in a graphics card, no problems whatsoever. I didn't plug or unplug anything, but this morning I tried to turn it on and it sticks at the black screen with the logo, the logo will do the small wave thing and pulse but the computer won't go past it. I have tried recovery, repair, memory repair, and CHKDSK, all say they can't fix it automatically. Safe mode doesn't work and gets stuck while trying to load the files for it.
I took out the PSU and GPU and put back in the original power supply and it didn't fix it (not good with hardware so don't laugh if that sounds stupid). It did not come with a Windows 7 repair disk. I don't want to take it back and trade it in because I have files on it I want to keep, is there anything else I missed that may fix this?
Specs are (general as I don't know specifics):
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit i5 2320 CPU quad core @ 3GZ 8 GB RAM Radeon HD 6770 GPU (Intel HD now that it's taken out)
I have a HP Pavilion G6 notebook and Windows 7 Ultimate 32. The OS froze today while I was working and the only solution was to shut it down by holding the power button. I restarted it afterwards and after the Windows 7 logo screen my display shuts off (it's not just a blank screen, the monitor is off). I tried using system restore and it gets me as far as the log-in screen and after I enter my password, it gives me another blank screen (this time the monitor is on, but the screen is blank) and ctrl+alt+del does not work, nor does anything else. I am writing from safe mode right now, it seems to work just fine, but a normal start-up gives me a black screen.
I'am running windows 7 professional. When i boot the PC, i have no trouble up to the point of the windows logo. When this disappears my screen (SyncMaster 913n) keep displaying the text "optimal screen resolution is 1280x1024 60 hertz" and then i dont see anything else than that. Even if i change the screen resolution to 800x600 i get the message. My GFX is 8800 Geforce GT with the drivers 285.62 (64Bit) same issue. Everything was working fine earlier today, then after a reboot i got this issue. The computer is a clean re-install so can their be missing some drivers besides the GT 8800 that can make the problem?
today i was working on the PC when the power got down for a second, i started the pc and the power blinked again, so i just waited 30 mins or so and i turned on the pc again, but this time it only got to the color balls that form the windows logo, showed the "please wait" message with a black background to finally led me to a black screen with the windows 7 ultimate logo on the bottom center, a button with some accesibility options to the left and the red button to turn off and reset the machine,i cant do anything more, Ctrl+Alt+Supr doesn't work or the windows key+R. starting in safe mode doesn't change anything neither.
Basically my laptop was working fine last night. I turn it on this morning and after the windows logo appears the screen goes black. However i can see and move the mouse cursor still.I tried pressing f8 at the beginning of the start up, and tred to repair my problem using the windows 7 repair features, but it didn't work, annoyingly i forgot to set a restore point as well so i can't try that. When i go into safe mode the exact same thing happens, but with the mouse being slightly more pixelated and blocky.I've got a Windows 7 Premium 32 bit disk which i purchased from Windows, but when i load that up it tells me that to install it i need to log into windows, which i obviously can't.I'm using a HP G70-120EM, i've had it for just over 12 months (Annoyingly exactly a week after the warranty is void) and like i mentioned, i've been using Windows 7 premium 32 bit for the past 2 months
My laptop is hp-dv6-3122tx with ATI 5650 and intel hd switchable graphics.Recently my laptop started giving me a black screen after the windows logo. I was having some issues with my GPUs too.Sometimes my ATI card was not coming up in the device manager and i was only using intel HD. i have noticed that when that happens i can't see my laptop charging icon changes to plugged in mode even though i plug in the charger , but the laptop was of course charging perfectly . But recently i found my ATI card back in device manager and it was working pretty well. But after exactly a week I started getting some white lines appearing in the display too. With that knowledge i assumed that the black screen issue is a counter-product of the GPU issue. I used safemode to uninstall all the GPU drivers. Then i can log into windows and work normally and windows detects the GPUs and install the plug and play drivers. After they install it i can restart the pc and work normally. But once a shut this down and later when i try to switch it on i get the black screen issue from ground zero. that makes me believe that this is mere a software issue. But those white lines i mentioned about is due to hardware fault i guess. I don't know what to do right now. I don't want ATI graphics, intel HD is ok. i just want to switch this thing on and do my work coz i can't afford another laptop right now.
So last night I turned off my PC as usual. Rebooted it this morning and every time the Windows 7 Logo disappears, all I see is a black screen, no mouse pointer, cant bring up task manager, the pc seems unresponsive. I am currently running the PC in safe mode.
There are other threads on the forums and on google, I have tried everything so far. As a list for you, this is what I have tried:
Windows Restore
Windows Repair
Reinstalling Windows 7 (will not allow me to do so from safe mode)
Booting Windows in low resolution mode.
Booting windows from the Win 7 CD I made, this causes me to get past the windows logo, then all I see is a mouse pointer and a windows background.
Using winkey + P does nothing.
I have 2 GeForce 9800 GX2s - I use 2 displays normally, occasionally using a third. The machine was running fine last night and no new software has been installed for the past 3 days. I assume the issue is multi-display related, however the pc is totally non responsive after the windows logo which suggests something else =/.
I am totally at a loss and need this PC for my work (I work from home in Austria for several companies in other countries), I have been at this since about 5am and 5 hours later there has been no change.
when i start up my laptop (Windows 7 ultimate) after i see the windows logo the screen goes black for about 20 seconds and i have scanned for everything using malwarebytes, superantispyware , security essentials and also on start up i only have my antivirus running as all else is unticked, any ideas to the problem as i have seen people ask about it also in Yahho answers but nobody has been able to fix.
I've been having this issue and have been unable to fix it so far. I can get into my computer in safe mode but have not been able to get on normally without it freezing on the windows logo screen. I tried running various tests which have failed and even reinstalled windows (upgraded so I wouldnt lose data) but that failed as well. System repair doesnt work either. I have no idea what could be wrong.
