View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed windows 7 on many of these Lenovo G560's. They are standard from the factory. I had just setup this one particular laptop myself a couple months ago. Now the customer got "the problem" and upon attempting to wipe and reinstall win7 (the exact same OS/flavor, on the exact same hardware) now I receive the "error" saying windows setup cannot configure windows on this hardware.
it's like it gets most of the way thru the basic install, and the harddrive has all the basic files on it. But setup just cannot continue. I Know all about new hard drives, the 4k-thing, that has nothing to do with this, unless some virus is causing a "hardware" problem. Or maybe it is a bios issue? Bios corruption? I can't even reinstall / update bios unless windows is on it. And now I can't finish the win7 install. I have one of these lenovo's as my own laptop here/now typing this on. I don't have a problem reinstalling win7 on it.
I have tried installing from DVD, from a usb stick, from the hard drive itself (copying files to a partition on the hard drive) no go. I've tried changing BIOS settings for the hard drive from AHCI to "Compatible" (there are only these two options) and made no difference. Why (or What) the change? What causes this on standard hardware that normally would work? Is it probably broken hardware? (a bad drive controller?)

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis issue has just start a couple of days ago were the computer would restart at the point of the boot logo just before the orbs came in, i have tried booting in all safe modes and the computer would restart, tried repair and it restarts before finished loading. I have tried using the os install disk but it also restarts. There is no BSOD. Is there a way to fix this or would i have to replace my motherboard?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus K50IN laptop, which I recently took apart to clean it from dust, during that I screwed apart the cooling system, hard drive, SD card reader chip and CD/DVD-player device. (And I just took them apart from the PC, not individually apart, so that I could just be able to reach more places inside laptop's interior.) Then I put everything back the way they were, and also applied new thermalpaste to CPU and GPU. When I turn the PC on, it goes OK, works all the way 100%, but when I restart it, it boots 'til the Asus logo, but then suddenly shuts down, when I start it up again from Power switch, it also dies at almost the same spot, and this process continues as long as I restart it right after previuous crash. Now the interesting part is that when I let my laptop rest for a couple of minutes for example, or even couple of tenths seconds, it starts OK, and everything works. But as soon as I want to restart, this scenario happens again.I have freshly formated Windows 7 which worked just fine, but then I took it apart, and this restart-startup problem occoured. And when it wants to shutdown then it will, it doesn't matter if I reach BIOS menu, or boot menu, with F2, F12 keys on my pc. I have done startup repair but no use.

I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. However, I soon discovered that if I boot from the Windows 7 cd and do not boot from it (By ignoring the "Press a key to boot from CD or DVD..." Windows 7 boots up fine.
I've tweaked my BIOS over and over, but the same problem persists. The drive is brand new and fine. What can I do?

Nothing works other than putting in the boot disk and hitting the restart button on the tower. Then it will boot up and run fine. But how do I stop it from having to have the disk in order to load? View 8 Replies View RelatedFor about the past 2 weeks my computer has been becoming slower and slower on startup, and just general usage. And so today I decided to take some actions to try to make it startup faster and just run faster in general. So i ran msconfig, disabled some startup entries and some non microsoft services. Also, knowing that disabling the boot GUI made the computer startup faster, I disabled that also. Then when I went to restart, I ran into problems.
When I turned the computer on I knew it wouldnt show the bootGUI and so I let it just sit and do its thing. After a very long 15 minutes (longer then it ever had been before) with just a black screen, I held the power button to turn it off. Then turned it back on, and got to the windows recovery window. So I hit f8, went into safe mode, loaded up msconfig, and enabled the bootgui, and restarted.
This time it showed the boot gui. However, once the windows logo was shown for about 15 seconds it switched to a screen that said "Windows is loading files" With a loading bar under it. I had never seen this before so I just let it load at first. As I was waiting for it to load I went and got dinner. Roughly 30 minutes later I went back and it was still stuck at not eve 1/4th of the way. So I held the power button again, restarted, went through the whole process again and then it brought up a message that said the communication with the device was gone. And that it happens when you pull a flash drive out or a hard drive or DVD drive looses power.
I do not think that my hard drive is going back. It is about 5 months old. Along with the rest of my computer. Pretty new. 5 months about.

I have installed a new W7 64 bit OS, plus a 32 bit (default install that I was unaware of) version of Office 2010. Everything appears to be working great except that I receive a dialog box request to insert Disk in drive/device 1v (It was 2 untill I switched two of the usb plugs.) I did notice that the OS sees my HP MFP as a disk drive.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm back with another issue. I'm setting up a PC for recording TV and it needs Windows 7 or Vista as the OS (since they come pre-installed with Media Center). This is the PC.The specs are also included: Shuttle XPC Barebone.It contains 2GB DDR2 ram and a 500GB Seagate HDD.During the windows installation (either Windows 7 or Vista) three things can, happen,-When the disc boots up, the GUI of the installation freezes and hangs. indefinitely.-When windows begins to install and expand the files, the PC will reboot randomly.-During install, the screen will go black with only a few red pixels present.*This happens with both 32/64bit installations.I tried putting in a different video card to see if that was the issue, but no dice. Also, I know this system can run windows vista/7 because my father is using the same exact PC model (SN68SG2) and is running Vista ultimate 32bit just fine.I have already diagnosed the RAM and HDD and they are in working order.For some reason, the only OS that installs without issues is XP. Worse case scenario, I can get XP media center edition, but I'd have to obtain a disc or iso to even test it out.
