Uninstall Utility Doesn't Work Fully - Not Listing All Programs?
Jul 21, 2012The "Uninstall/change a program" utility in the control panel is not listing all my programs (it does list about 90% of them though). What else can I use?

Add And Remove Programs Doesn't Work Period
Mar 1, 2011So since the other day, Add And Remove programs has given me some trouble. Basically, when I went to the start Menu to work it, it didn't open up until I made a shortcut for the Desktop. And then it gave me the message that in all programs, to be blunt it couldn't find it- while I can't access it now, it said it couldn't find the program and asked me if I wanted to Admin Remove it from the list- this did nothing. And now, again, it doesn't work period. I've tried a system restore, but going back the farthest I can, it still doesn't work. Is it possible to completely reinstall Add And Remove Programs, or somehow fix it?

Nov 27, 2009Have copied a Folder from another PC that has a program in it to the Desktop of a new PC running Windows 7. Program happens to be Cliptrak, but that's probably not too important as this is more of a general question.
Now that I have the Program Folder on the Desktop, how do I get it in the All Programs listing ?
I tried dragging it to the Start Button, and I also tried opening Computer and dragging it to the C: drive icon shown there. No luck either way. What is the proper procedure for doing this?

Jan 29, 2012Whenever I play a .mkv, I notice that even after I quit WMP (and the window closes), I have to go to the task manager and quit wmpprocess.exe in order for it to release the file (so I can move or rename it). I've also noticed that ffx and Direct vob sub also stay open in the taskbar, and can have multiple instances going, one for each video i had recently watched. I can hover over them with the cursor to make most instances dissapear, except for once instance of each applet, which only go away onec I quit wmpprocess.exe

Dec 23, 2009I want to uninstall a program off my laptop. It's not showing up in the uninstall programs list so I presume it's hidden for some reason (The program is First Class - according to the applications website the removal route is through add & remove programs).
I know in XP there is an file which shows all installed programs and some have the word hidden at the beggining of the file name, which keeps the program name out of add & remove - I presume the same is true of Windows 7?

Nov 3, 2010Last week my husband installed Azureus aka Vuze onto our Sony VIAO laptop. He said several hours later, while he was watching a video, the computer suddenly shut down. Since then, we have found that we can't open any non-Windows inherit programs. Windows did an update, but it didn't help.We can open documents, pictures, notepad, calculator - all the things that would have come with Windows 7, but if it is a program that we have installed, like Chrome, AVG free or AdAware, we can't open it. I double-click and nothing happens.Likewise, when I try to uninstall programs. I tried fixing the issue by removing Azureus, but I get the message that it doesn't look like it can be uninstalled and asks if I want it removed from the programs list.I have successfully gotten ZIP folders to open and use REG files (which is how I got ZIP folders to work), but that's it.

Sep 27, 2012First I told her she needs to clear out some space of all her homemade videos.Then I wanted to go into Add Remove programs but every time I go in it freezes. I even tried it in safe mode but it seems to freeze up even more. I ran cCleaner which cleaned over 1000 MB. I ran SuperAntispyware which found nothing. I tried to run Malwarebytes but it froze after 2 minutes. I took some items out of start up but there are a ton of Toshiba programs listed, but I have no idea if they are necessary or not. Some items I am not sure if she needs or not: Blekko Anti Phishing Domain Advisor Every time I attempt something now her laptop freezes and I have to reboot.I can't even go into Task Manager to stop Malwarebytes or Add Remove Programs when they freeze.

Apr 12, 2012I have just noticed that I can't uninstall any programs. When I try, a window pops up almost immediately saying "Unable to create a temporary file. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied.I have tried running the add/remove applet as Administrator but I get the same result.The Microsoft 'Fix It' tool finds no problems or errors.where the Windows Installer is trying to create the file. One thread that I've found says it creates it on 'the volume with the most free space', but as I only have one partition, that doesn't help much.

Nov 13, 2009i installed windows 7, and everything seemed to work fine.
installed a bunch of programs, they also all seem to work.
but then i decided to do some backups; i created the rescue cd using windows, and then cloned the hard drive also using windows 7.
but then i noticed the backup program, and decided to click on "set up backup"; nothing happens.
if i try the same from a disk drive/properties (ie click on backup there) nothing happens either.
any ideas? maybe something i installed broke this, but it seems like a pretty basic function to break like this.

Aug 8, 2012Basically, I bought a new USB stick and plugged it in. My computer would search for windows updates, but it would never find the ones required, and the USB wouldn't install. When I unplug the USB and plug it back in again, the computer doesn't even recognize it, and nothing happens. Currently, my computer is not updated, so that's one thing I won't try. I've installed windows 7 updates numerous times in the past, and every time I did, my computer would have problems starting up (i.e. my desktop would be a black screen when it starts and I can't do anything, or the place where I enter my password to log in doesn't load at all).

Feb 24, 2012I'm unable to play games requiring DirectX 11, even though I've downloaded it perhaps half a dozen times. Having stumped myself I decided I may as well ask here. The only feedback I've received from things not working is Civilization V says "Requires Service Pack 2 or greater" As far as I know DirectX doesn't update in the Service pack format, and that Windows 7 SP2 doesn't exist yet, and shouldn't be needed for a game of early 2010 as-is. I have an ASUS U56E, with the on-board i5 graphics(I thought it might be that, but my brother's i3 runs said DirectX fine, so maybe mine is damaged) and I, quite frankly, do not want to run it back into Best Buy and hope that it's covered by warranty.
