View 8 RepliesI want to uninstall a program off my laptop. It's not showing up in the uninstall programs list so I presume it's hidden for some reason (The program is First Class - according to the applications website the removal route is through add & remove programs).
I know in XP there is an file which shows all installed programs and some have the word hidden at the beggining of the file name, which keeps the program name out of add & remove - I presume the same is true of Windows 7?
how to "unhide" the program
There are two Microsoft updates that has caused a very important program to stop working. I have identified the two that caused the problem, however they cannot be removed per the Microsoft message that once installed they cannot be removed. Please, is there another way I can remove them so I can get my program up and running?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following three programs listed in the installed programs list. They are the Cisco LEAP module, the Cisco PEAP module, and the Cisco EAP- FAST module. I understand that they have something to do with wireless. I don't use wireless, at least not in the sense of something like a wireless printer, router or things of that sort. I do have a wireless keyboard and mouse. So, are these necessary and can I uninstall them without any problems? Or?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week my husband installed Azureus aka Vuze onto our Sony VIAO laptop. He said several hours later, while he was watching a video, the computer suddenly shut down. Since then, we have found that we can't open any non-Windows inherit programs. Windows did an update, but it didn't help.We can open documents, pictures, notepad, calculator - all the things that would have come with Windows 7, but if it is a program that we have installed, like Chrome, AVG free or AdAware, we can't open it. I double-click and nothing happens.Likewise, when I try to uninstall programs. I tried fixing the issue by removing Azureus, but I get the message that it doesn't look like it can be uninstalled and asks if I want it removed from the programs list.I have successfully gotten ZIP folders to open and use REG files (which is how I got ZIP folders to work), but that's it.

I even tried it in safe mode but it seems to freeze up even more. I ran cCleaner which cleaned over 1000 MB. I ran SuperAntispyware which found nothing. I tried to run Malwarebytes but it froze after 2 minutes. I took some items out of start up but there are a ton of Toshiba programs listed, but I have no idea if they are necessary or not. Some items I am not sure if she needs or not: Blekko Anti Phishing Domain Advisor Every time I attempt something now her laptop freezes and I have to reboot.I can't even go into Task Manager to stop Malwarebytes or Add Remove Programs when they freeze.

I have just noticed that I can't uninstall any programs. When I try, a window pops up almost immediately saying "Unable to create a temporary file. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied.I have tried running the add/remove applet as Administrator but I get the same result. The Microsoft 'Fix It' tool finds no problems or errors.where the Windows Installer is trying to create the file. One thread that I've found says it creates it on 'the volume with the most free space', but as I only have one partition, that doesn't help much.

View 5 Replies View Relatedsince I got my new setup, temps have gone up like crazy and I cannot find the source of the problem. Using Prime95, my 955BE goes as high as 65-70 degrees celcius. This is at standard clock and voltage, which are 3200mHz and ~1.35v.The cooler I use is: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro and thermal paste: Cooler Master something. Case fans are turned up to medium instead of low and the heatsink seems to be placed correctly. With my old motherboard (M4A77) and this exact same cooler, temps would stabilize at ~54 degrees at full load.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a win 7 ultimate x64 box. I used to run XP. I loaded fresh on new drives, and installed the OS, some office and utils on drive C: as normal. I have 2 more drives, D: and E:, that I have installed about a terabyte of games/simulators on. I have installed these on both drives under program files folder. During install and setup of the OS, I turned off UAC because it was taking way to long to answer all the prompts to make sure this is what I wanted to do. So after done installing everything a week later, I flip UAC back on. Now I can't run anything without UAC kicking in and it does mess up some of my programs.
Should I just turn UAC off and leave it or do a reinstall, and put all my games on drive D and E in a folder called Games or something like that to prevent UAC from wearing me out. Other possibilities I was thinking of is renaming D: program files to d: games and do the same on drive E:, then find eplace anything in the registry from D: program files to D: games, do the same for E:. Would that work or would I wind up hosing my install?
I upgraded Vista x64 Ultimate to Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The upgrade went fine - no major issues with the upgrade process. I am, though, having some small issues when running 7:
1. Outlook 2007 process remains open after closing Outlook.
2. Very slow closing certain programs/games.
3. Gadgets doesn't work.
4. Occasional empty folder pops up on taskbar that I can't close.
5. WEI for my SATA3 HD is 2.9 - 500GB Seagate
6. System shutdowns take forever
The system, overall, seems to be quite responsive but the problems I'm running into are somewhat frustrating.
Not sure if these have been addressed in other threads yet, as I'm still searching them. I'm guessing that part of it may be due to MB driver issues, but not sure - running an EVGA 780i MB.
Im using Windows 7 now for a while. I was reading on another forums reports by multiple users about abnormal usage of RAM (100% usage) while installing games or programs and it causes stalling while CPU usage is near 0%. I also asked these question on another forum and didnt get anwser.
I was wondering why, because I didnt notice that behaviour on my computer never before. But yesterday when I was installing a game I noticed just that. The installation proces was very slow, RAM usage was 100%, CPU at zero. So I suspect a update of a kind or something similar is cousing this problem.
well my laptop was performing fine until a few weeks ago it started to freeze up during some games which it didnt before. I play games a lot so i thought my laptop had lost it efficiency but there are other games where everything is smooth.
I have done the "dxdiag","updating drivers", "windows memory diagnostics","windows update" and so on but everything seems fine. I have been going through enough posts so i think my system specifications is required.
My laptop is Sony Vaio C series
4 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6630M
i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
windows 7 home premium 64 bit
directx 11
Currently the programs/games that lags are vlc player(movies dont run as smooth as it used to), World of Warcraft, Counter Strike (offline or online). However games that requires higher graphics like Assasin's creed works just fine.
My computer is giving me problems and I think im going to reinstall windows 7 with a clean install. I would like to know if there is a way I could move my games and some of my programs without downloading them.

View 8 Replies View RelatedLast night I installed two programs, one called honor buddy, which is a WoW bot, and the other tortoise. When I later started WoW (MMO Game), I got extreme FPS drops. I usually have 70-100 fps depending where I am, but now I can barely turn the camera without getting freeze lag/ massive fps drop for some seconds, then it goes back to normal fps for a few seconds and then it starts to freeze again. And as I said I normally have around 100 fps in this area.f I dont move my camera and just walk forward I dont fps drop, but as soon as I do, I freeze..So something happened when I installed these two programs, I do not think I've got a virus because I have not heard anything negative about the programs. I ran a scan for viruses and similiar with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and didnt find anything harmful. So what can be wrong, can it be fixed without reinstalling windows

View 1 Replies View Relatedok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.
