Mar 9, 2011I had an issue with a Corel product yesterday and the Tech said "it's a quick Registry fix", logged in and made the change....then fixed it so that I now have to do a complete reinstall. It's as if he created a whole new profile, so now I can't run certain programs even though they appear on the Program list.Rather that wrestle with a fix, easier to reinstall the software.The problem is that a directory that was once visible to me previously that contained 5gb of files is no longer visible. This apparent new Identity (or whatever they did) doesn't recognize it.The files are there. If I go to Computer, right click, Everything and do a text search for files I know are there, I can see them.Is there some freeware available that will allow me to browse everything on the harddrive, no matter which Identity created it?

I use Keepass for password management and have the program set to not remember the path of the database or key file. However, whenever I run the program, it gets populated on the recent programs list pointing straight to the location of the key file and database. Pinning the program to the taskbar does the same thing as well. I really do not want to disable the recent programs display, but I don't want anyone to be able to just have access to my passwords because the icon is right there for them to click on.

Sep 3, 2012I have a custom PC for the past year and my main Windows 7 boot drive was giving my some aggravating problems. Board is an EVGA P67 SLI with a Crucial C300 128GB SSD as the main boot drive in the SATA3 location. I've seen MANY cases where people were having some slowing speeds with the drive and I finally came along with that problem as well, and since I only use the drive to boot up I figured a reformat would be a nice way to simply start over.
Regardless, I have 2 other mechanical hard drives one in which stores everything from Steam Games to Ventrilo and other software. The other is simply used for personal things like Pictures, Music, and Videos. My "Programs Drive" is simply like the "Program Files" of your typical C: drive really. Everything I can put on that one goes on that one and basically I use the SSD for the start up times since P67 doesn't support caching like the Z68s do.
My issue is, now that I've reformatted my main SSD drive when it comes to playing my games I'm only able to play whatever is through Steam. If it isn't through Steam then it simply doesn't run. Even when I actually try re-installing it again just for registry purposes it doesn't go through. Obviously my "Programs & Features" selection is a bit empty right now because nothing is registered on my main drive. Should probably look into doing that at some point as well with Steam and all of the installed games.

Dec 19, 2011I installed a game that I didn't like so i wanted to uninstall it but if needed me to upgrade something which I didn't want to do, so I removed the game manually. Most of the time if I choose to uninstall the game after removing the game manually it just gives me an error and asks me if I want to remove it from the list. This time however, it didn't. It tried to uninstall it but gave me a different error telling me that something is missing and it can't uninstall the game. It doesn't remove the Programs list.

Aug 18, 2009I know they removed the "classic startmenu" but the only thing I miss is the "All Programs" list. I hate having to click, then scroll, then click again. With all the new UI improvements you would think they would of realized to just open the folder on hover or allow a blow out list.
I do have it set to open on hover, but it doesnt work for the inside area. So far it's my only complaint about 7, the little hovers for multiple windows is awesome.

Jun 29, 2009When i click the start button and move my mouse to all programs it changes but there are no list of them, it is all white. When i right click the all programs and choose open i can see that all programs are there and they all work fine.
I didn't had this problem from start, it happened recently.
Of reg cleaners i only use CCleaner and it didn't make any problems for sure.
Is this a known problem and how can i fix this?

One is 'everything' - a better search engine, the other is 'Karen's Time sync' - a clock sync program. I have UAC enabled and when they did run, they asked for permission to continue. Now they don't run at all unless I start them manually. I have Properties set to show 15 recent programs. When I run a program from the Start Menu (not the "recent programs," but the full list) or from Explorer (navigate to program and double-click the exe file), the program does not get added to the list. The only recently run programs being added are ones I run from Desktop shortcuts.
