Control Panel, Uninstall Programs?
Mar 27, 2011I am wondering why some of my installed programs do not show up in control paneluninstall programs, am also wondering if there is away to make the list of programs in unistall programs show up in alphabetical order.Also if I cannot uninstall programs any other way does it create any potential problems if I just delete the folder(s) containing the program?

Dec 21, 2012Programs won't open and whilst the control panel will open clicking any of the options results in it hanging, resulting in me needing to end the process in task manager. I'm in safe mode right now and no such problems are currently present. This is a newly built computer and the OS is installed on an SSD. After installing Windows I installed drivers from three CDs in the following order: graphics card, sound card, mobo/chipset. No problems appeared to occur. I think prior to installing these drivers Windows was okay as I recall looking up why my internet wasn't working(turned out I need the LAN driver from the latter driver CD)

May 31, 2010Does the installation provide flexibility on what Pro / Ultimate features are installed (or should I say enabled) above and beyond what comes standard with Home Premium? Before posting, I did some searching, and found the following link which includes screen shots. Looks like the answer is "No", at least not that I could find. I just built a PC and mainly want my Windows 7 experience to be that of Home Premium, except for just a couple of extra features I wanted. Apr 4, 2011After installing some desktop customization programs for Windows 7, I noticed that my games run with lower framerates. I also notice that things are loading up a little slower, and when I drag a selection box on my desktop, it's very laggy. I just built this computer about a month ago, and it's meant to be a gaming computer.
My general specs are:
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Processor - 3.2 GHz
- 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM & 1600Mhz
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- My graphics card is a PowerColor AX6850 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
I uninstalled the two programs (Rainmeter and Fences), restarted my system a couple of times, disabled various startup items and services, uninstalled some unnecessary programs, ran a virus scan with Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy, ran CCleaner, and I am still facing this slow down. My CPU temperatures are also staying at 20C to 25C, so that shouldn't be the issue. Could windows be running an index or something in the background? Or is there a conflict with the operating system after using these desktop customization tools?

Sep 3, 2012I have a custom PC for the past year and my main Windows 7 boot drive was giving my some aggravating problems. Board is an EVGA P67 SLI with a Crucial C300 128GB SSD as the main boot drive in the SATA3 location. I've seen MANY cases where people were having some slowing speeds with the drive and I finally came along with that problem as well, and since I only use the drive to boot up I figured a reformat would be a nice way to simply start over.
Regardless, I have 2 other mechanical hard drives one in which stores everything from Steam Games to Ventrilo and other software. The other is simply used for personal things like Pictures, Music, and Videos. My "Programs Drive" is simply like the "Program Files" of your typical C: drive really. Everything I can put on that one goes on that one and basically I use the SSD for the start up times since P67 doesn't support caching like the Z68s do.
My issue is, now that I've reformatted my main SSD drive when it comes to playing my games I'm only able to play whatever is through Steam. If it isn't through Steam then it simply doesn't run. Even when I actually try re-installing it again just for registry purposes it doesn't go through. Obviously my "Programs & Features" selection is a bit empty right now because nothing is registered on my main drive. Should probably look into doing that at some point as well with Steam and all of the installed games.

But anything that has to with the control panel I can't see. The task bar says the folder is open but I see nothing.I have tried the following: ran sfc, it says nothing is wrong, tried to create a new user account, but I can't since it falls under the control panel. I tried to create a new user account through the guest account (I was able to make it an administrator) but it says I can't create a new account with special characters such as $=- etc... Nov 11, 2012Alright, so it started around 5-7 days ago. Photoviewer started giving a message with this line,C:Program FilesWindows Photo ViewerPhotoViewer.dll is not a valid win32 application.Searched on google, first thing it said was to check if there's any viruses. I scanned it with super-antispyware and had one virus. Did the sfc /scannow and it says it couldn't repair some files (CBS logs are over 3mb ). Cleared the virus and after two days, most of the items in control panel doesn't do anything when I try to click on it (i.e Power Options, Backup & Restore, Firewall) or it gives the line,Windows cannot find '::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371,Paint and opening other things through Start Menu gives this fine,C:Windowssystem32ODBC32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error

May 7, 2009I've tried this twice now (on the same machine) and each time Control Panel won't work; it doesn't open. If I change the start menu to show links to Control Panel applets only some of them work; User Accounts, Display, Power Settings, Windows Update and others just do nothing. This means I can't adjust my display properties to get the correct alignment of my dual monitors, among other things, so I've given up on it meantime.
Has anyone else had this problem, or any suggestions on how to overcome it?
