Control Over What Features In Ultimate Get Installed?
May 31, 2010
Does the installation provide flexibility on what Pro / Ultimate features are installed (or should I say enabled) above and beyond what comes standard with Home Premium? Before posting, I did some searching, and found the following link which includes screen shots. Looks like the answer is "No", at least not that I could find. I just built a PC and mainly want my Windows 7 experience to be that of Home Premium, except for just a couple of extra features I wanted. That probably doessn't sound so smart, since I paid for ultimate, but I can explain (sort of). So how different are the menu selections etc between Ultimate and Home Premium.
I'm trying to use the Parental Control feature on one Windows 7 machine in my home. This machine is used by two of my younger sons. Is there any way that I could use the Parental Control feature on each separate account in a sense that whenever the user logs in, the time restriction starts? As oppose to the time restriction being set at specific hours. And is there also a way that whenever the user logs out, if he still has time left, it will pause the time restriction and resume when he logs back in?
My all installed program are not in control panel, I have recently installed one program, it is been installed properly but has not appeared in control panel, I want to uninstall it.

For some extraordinary reason The User Accounts Icon has disappeared from my Control Panel of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit & therefore cannot access User accounts. I found this out when i could not change the user account picture.
I just loaded windows went as far as accepting key code #'s and it went to update registry and it crashed. After waiting to see if was going to reboot five minutes I rebooted and it starts with wanting an option to start windows and it will run to the start of the logo build and crashes and restarts the cycle of windows startup options ???
I bought a a serial key of Windows 7 Professional x64, but I accidentally have installed Ultimate x64. And I spent 2 weeks setting up my computer, installing soft-wares, games and other stuff. And now I figured out that the key of Professional x64 wont work on Ultimate. Is there any way to shift it to Windows 7 Professional x64 without affecting all the files and settings.
I installed windows 7 ultimate, i did not just upgrade I did the more advanced install. I iinstalled it on a HP pavillion g series that was already running windows 7. I did back it up fully. However, the problem is that it is now not recognizing a properly installed network adapter.
i was installing Ubuntu on my hp laptop and i accidentally installed it over my windows 7. and i cant get it back. i tried installing another version from a cd, but it just booted to ubuntu.
I've recently installed windows 7 ultimate and now the scroller on my touchpad isn't working. I've tried updating the driver but it says I've got the most recent update!!
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and now my built in webcam no longer works. I have a Toshiba Satellite L510-016. I am unsure of the webcam model itself as no information seems to pop up for it anywhere on my computer. I have tried installing drivers with no success.
I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my Dell M1330 and my audio doesnt work (though my headphone jack works). I have looked at several other forums for solutions for this problem, installed several drivers (including but not limited to, R147073, R167846, R171786, and what ever driver dell support recommended me install) and I had my speakers and motherboard replaced. I am pretty sure its a windows 7 problem (according to Dell tech support and my research)
Built a "super computer" with all the bells and whistles, did raid0 array OK installed Windows 7 ultimate on ssd 120GB drive.went to drive management found raid array, partitionnedit as 1 18TB drive without problem BUT when i tried to format it (quick since i suspect it may take days) and iwin sais failled to format drive.i will try to make a Loooong format and see what happens.
I got windows 7 ultimate 32bit free from my school, and decided that I wanted to clean install, and not upgrade it. I transferred all my files off, booted the laptop up with the windows 7 disk, and proceeded to clean install. I didn't have the drivers cd for my laptop, but I just wiped my drive and installed 7 anyway. Now I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit, and can only use 3 of my 4 gigabytes of memory.. The thing I don't really understand is the whole upgrading option, and like, I know that it's a windows 7 32bit dvd, but it doesn't seem right to go from 64bit to 32bit. So is there anyway I can make it 64bit without having to buy a new dvd? And if not, how much am I missing out on, with not having 64bit, especially with having 4 gigabytes of ram?
Just learning the ropes on Windows7; used Vista for coupla years: TOOL BAR: What happened to Edit function of for that matter File? RIGHT CLICK: What happened to Copy to and Move to ? The point being, how do I move selected files to another location on my computer?
when going to programs and features i find that my programs do not populate. is there another way to uninstall programs besides in programs and features? also, is there a setting in the program that I need to correct?
After XPMode working flawlessly, it is all of a sudden giving me errors. When I lanuch it, it takes a very long time, the green bar goes all the way till the end where it says "Starting the virtual machine", then it errors out stating, "Could not enable integration features". Nothing was changed. I cant use my XPMode applications either.
One of the features I like about FF is that it gives you the option to remember user names and passwords. Not sure if the latest Chrome and IE do the same??
My "turn windows features on and off" box is blank. this is a known error with many 'solutions' that have not worked in my case. I've reinstalled Windows 7 prof. x64 twice (for a total of 3 installs). somewhere along the line of installing my standard programs 9all of which work, no issues, ect.) my "turn windows features on and off" box will go blank. I tried figuring out what program triggered this behavior by reinstalling and restarting after every program installed and checking the box. it was a different program that triggered the event from reinstall 1 to reinstall 2. so, that's telling me it's not a specific program that's triggering it. anyway, I don't have 2 hours to reinstall windows and my programs every night, so I'd like to know if there is a workaround (ie registry entries) that I can edit to enable features and programs. from my understanding of how "turn windows features on and off" works, it must only be changing a registry entry or editing a config file that tells the OS not to load those features, as in the documentation, it states that the programs and features are not uninstalled, they're just disabled.
the list is just empty after loading. I've tried running sfc /scannow, system restoring back, I've ran a chkdsk on C:, I created a new admin account to see if it worked, I even tried this command: reg delete HKLMCOMPONENTS /v StoreDirty but still no luck.
