I installed windows 7 ultimate, i did not just upgrade I did the more advanced install. I iinstalled it on a HP pavillion g series that was already running windows 7. I did back it up fully. However, the problem is that it is now not recognizing a properly installed network adapter.
View 1 RepliesNew to the Tech forum boards but I am having a problem with my HP Pavillion dv6t. The hard drive went bad so I installed a new Seagate 1TB internal hard drive in the notebook. Starts up fine and then it says that "No bootable device found"---insert disk press any key. The disc is in the cd rom, I went into the BIOS enabled the CD/ROM boot option. I also went into the Boot option menu and tried selecting the internal cd/dvd rom drive option and I went into the actual boot order screen and adjusted the boot order so it read the cd-rom drive first then the hard drive. I also am using the HP Application and Driver recovery DVD. I am not sure if the disc is bad or cd drive is bad. The other thought is that because it is a brand new hard drive there is no information on it for the drivers so maybe the computer is not processing the information.

I just loaded windows went as far as accepting key code #'s and it went to update registry and it crashed. After waiting to see if was going to reboot five minutes I rebooted and it starts with wanting an option to start windows and it will run to the start of the logo build and crashes and restarts the cycle of windows startup options ???

And I spent 2 weeks setting up my computer, installing soft-wares, games and other stuff. And now I figured out that the key of Professional x64 wont work on Ultimate. I have looked at several other forums for solutions for this problem, installed several drivers (including but not limited to, R147073, R167846, R171786, and what ever driver dell support recommended me install) and I had my speakers and motherboard replaced. I am pretty sure its a windows 7 problem (according to Dell tech support and my research)

I transferred all my files off, booted the laptop up with the windows 7 disk, and proceeded to clean install. I didn't have the drivers cd for my laptop, but I just wiped my drive and installed 7 anyway. Now I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit, and can only use 3 of my 4 gigabytes of memory.. The thing I don't really understand is the whole upgrading option, and like, I know that it's a windows 7 32bit dvd, but it doesn't seem right to go from 64bit to 32bit. So is there anyway I can make it 64bit without having to buy a new dvd? And if not, how much am I missing out on, with not having 64bit, especially with having 4 gigabytes of ram?

Before posting, I did some searching, and found the following link which includes screen shots. Looks like the answer is "No", at least not that I could find. I just built a PC and mainly want my Windows 7 experience to be that of Home Premium, except for just a couple of extra features I wanted. That probably doessn't sound so smart, since I paid for ultimate, but I can explain (sort of). So how different are the menu selections etc between Ultimate and Home Premium.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have searched the forum for some answers to a few questions.Would it be worth it to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV6000 from Windows vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64bit? . The warrantie ran out and the hard drive crashed the pc is five years old but is is great shape. I have looked around and as of now windows vista is more expensive than Windows 7 . What I do not understand is why would HP put a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit system ?. Was it not running correct with 64 bit OS? This laptop has all kinds of cool devices on it webcam remote for media center light scribe including touch controls by power button I do not want to loose any of those functions. It has Nvidia geforce 7100 mobile graphcs to I just want to make pc better without loosing anything.anyone know where I can get step by step install for this laptop model I think what I want involves all the drivers including webcam,lightscribe,touch controls which are part of media controls ,remote control for media center?.
