Jul 14, 2009I have an HP Pavillion DV6500 laptop that came pre installed with 32bit Vista.
Right now I am using Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7100 32bit.
I'm wondering if there's any way to upgrade to 64bit windows 7 when the upgrade disc comes out in October or even now.
I don't mind having to reformat the hard drive.
Can I possibly reformat the hard drive now and install a fresh copy of windows 7 rc 64bit?
I tried talking to HP support about this, but they wouldn't give me a direct answer to any question.
They wouldn't even tell me if my laptop could support 64bit. (I did some research, and I think it can.)

Dec 2, 2009The volume icon on the taskbar reads "No Audio Output Device is Installed". No sound whatsoever not even out of the headphone jack. HP does not make a driver update. They told me my computer is too slow to run Windows 7. Funny, because I'm running 7 as I type this! Works great, other than this issue.
If there isn't a driver, I can of course get a USB or Express card sound card, right?

Oct 24, 2009I have an HP DV6500 with an AMD TL-64 processor and the NVidea GeForce 8400M GS graphics card. It's the rs085av model.
I recently installed Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, and I managed to install all the drivers except for two items. It shows "Coprocessor" and "Unknown Device" as incorrectly installed. I don't know what the Unknown device is, but it might be my cd drive (slimtype DVD A DS8A1P ATA), which also isn't working. Also not working is my Ethernet port, which is on the motherboard.
So, if anyone knows what drivers I need to grab to get those to work, or if I need to reinstall the chipset, I would love to know.

Dec 3, 2009Ok so I installed windows 7 on a Hp Pavilion dv6500 a couple of weeks ago and had lots of trouble updating drivers but this guy from this forum kindly helped me figure almost everything out, after a couple of days I tried to use some of my usb connections and none of them are working, it either says it can't be recognized or they just won't open at all, I really NEED to use my usb connections are right now and none of them are working.
