What are some programs out there that'll produce .msstyles? Something like Stardock's window blinds, but for making windows themes? Also, I'm not talking about making minor themes, but rather messing with the resources and stuff.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing some desktop customization programs for Windows 7, I noticed that my games run with lower framerates. I also notice that things are loading up a little slower, and when I drag a selection box on my desktop, it's very laggy. I just built this computer about a month ago, and it's meant to be a gaming computer.
My general specs are:
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Processor - 3.2 GHz
- 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM & 1600Mhz
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- My graphics card is a PowerColor AX6850 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
I uninstalled the two programs (Rainmeter and Fences), restarted my system a couple of times, disabled various startup items and services, uninstalled some unnecessary programs, ran a virus scan with Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy, ran CCleaner, and I am still facing this slow down. My CPU temperatures are also staying at 20C to 25C, so that shouldn't be the issue. Could windows be running an index or something in the background? Or is there a conflict with the operating system after using these desktop customization tools?
I'm looking for information on how the following customization was done. the below photo shows a window with customized trim paneling on the left side. While I currently enjoy the nVidia influenced version of Windows 7... I absolutely loathe the styling.

I hate to drive in a Tiger Cam when there's endless traffic running around and the most annoying things are the map, bars on the screen. I want to drive by taking the car of my choice and empty the city with traffic removed and go crazy on the drifts in american muscles... there's not even a single place like a open ground where we can go and make donots and burn the rubber... where ever you go you just find bars blocking the place behind the streets so does any one know what should i do or am i just stuck with these limited things?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have tried to sort through the Admin fiasco in Win 7, default admin, "real" admin, just plain user, plain as mud, only M$ could create such convolution. I have Win 7 Ultimate and really like it....BUT....with a 30 inch 16 x 9 display, DVI in, hard to get a sharp screen....fonts in particular are blurred. I have gone through true type, no help.
Part of the problem is the "default" fonts. I think I know how to change them, but, big but, I cannot unlock the administration blockage even logged in as Administrator. I believe that is the problem as there is the gold & blue shield and the actions I want to take are grayed out, thus you can't click on them.
I have read others have set up an Admin with a password only to screw up their installation and I am unwilling to risk that as I have my OS set up just as I want it other than the font issue. Also, same problem in using the format capability of Win 7 for a hard drive, the gold shield/grayed out "format" cannot be accessed, again even though I am logged in as Admin.

Delivering on the most-customizable promise, Windows 7 now supports the ability to load images into the background of the login screen without the use of third-party software or manual hacks.
Although this functionality was designed for OEMs in mind, it is pretty easy to turn on and off using regedit and some images lying around your hard drive.
First, a check is made to determine if the customization functionality is enabled or not. More precisely, a registry value named OEMBackground in the HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground key is checked. Its data, of Boolean type, defines whether or not this behavior is turned on, i.e. 1 for enabled, 0 for disabled. Set this to 1.
Afterwards, if customization is enabled, the primary monitor’s screen height and width are retrieved via calls to GetSystemMetrics. These values are used in the computation of the screen width (w)/height (h) ratio. For example, my desktop resolution is 1920×1200. The ratio, computed by the division of w/h, is 1.6:1.
The result of this computation is looked up in an internal table that drives what image to load on disk. Although I don’t have a large enough monitor to test, it appears resolutions higher than 1920×1200 will force the loading and zooming of an image of closest compatibility (i.e. same ratio, smaller image).
As this is an OEM feature, images are derived from %windir%system32oobeinfoackgrounds. The following files are supported in this folder:

The backgroundDefault.jpg image is loaded and stretched-to-fit when a resolution/ratio-specific background cannot be found. The other resolution/ratio-specific files are self-explanatory. If the background cannot be loaded (e.g. image physically too large, incorrect ratio, etc.), the default SKU-based image is loaded from imagesres.dll. You’ll see a Windows Server-themed grayish background in there, too, suggesting this functionality is not specific to client SKUs.
I am trying to get my taskbar to store recently opened items but when I right click on the start menu and select properties I see that the check box is greyed out! I have no idea what I did to make it greyed out and more importantly, I have no idea how to get it back so that I can enable it again.

I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
I have just bought a new acer aspier 5750z-4830 intel core b940 processor 4gb ddr3 memory 500 gb hdd 3 days ago and I am unable to install any new programs.I have tried to download meny sotwer not at the same time but the results are horrable.google chrome: 7 hours and never downloads. yahoo mesenger: connection is always lost and retrys never work. when i click cancle it says that it maybe my firewall but even when i allow the progrom through it won't work. so i turned if off for a little while still nothing. java: my laptop dose not come with java so i tried instlling it...121 hours to install this is rediclious.The download speed may not be so good right now beacuse we where hit by a storm 3 days ago however i have to ability to downlod but not the ability to install which i think is a bit weird

However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble running most program, specifically the ones I use the most. I can't run google chrome, or world of warcraft, as well as any other programs I typically use throughout the day. Aside from google chrome, everything else runs in safe mode. System restore was unable to fix my problem. This just started happening today. I had problems with my internet so I reset my computer to power cycle my router and upon restarting the problem occured.I've run Avira, IObit 360, and Malewarebytes, all of which were unable to find any problems. I also managed to get one of my regedit programs to run and only came up with the typical fixes(shortcuts, etc). I can't run msinfo32, or the task manager by right clicking the bottom bar. Interestingly enough I can ctrl+alt+delete and get the task manager. All the programs I try and run, show up as tasks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer is infected so I tried to follow the steps on this website for removing spyware, malware, etc. however i am unable to run any executable programs. For example i have tried to run spybot, defogger, dds and everytime I hit Run, nothing happens and then I get a warning that says "Application cannot be executed. The file XXXXX.exe is infected. Please activate your antivirus software."
Also, every 20-30 minutes my computer automatically restarts. Before it restarts thought it goes to a blue screen. On this blue screen it says "The problem seems to be caused by the following file NTFS.SYS. It also says alot more but that is the one thing that stood out to me.
Well, All Programs seems to once again have gone blank. This has happened to me before but it was usually solved by either moving the Programs folder to the Desktop and back or setting it to Hidden but now it seems that neither of these solutions are working. Anyone got any ideas?
