View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently have been trying to set up some default programs for certain file types to open in. When I try to choose a program in the 'Open with...' dialogue box, I am unable to select a new program from the default list. The program I need isn't in that list, but I can't add to the list or choose a different program when I choose to browse for a new program.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, I'm using COWON jetAudio as my media player in Windows 7 (I've been using this all in one media player for years now, and I love it.) And I'm trying to associate all of the file types to jetAudio.
When I go into the jetAudio preferences, and check all file types, it doesn't work properly, I'm guessing it's due to the fact that Windows 7 is still Beta.

I noticed this a few days after having to restore my drive from a True Image backup.Running Win 7 Professional.I currently have 5 "recent" programs listed in my Start Menu (not pinned). I have Properties set to show 15 recent programs. When I run a program from the Start Menu (not the "recent programs," but the full list) or from Explorer (navigate to program and double-click the exe file), the program does not get added to the list. The only recently run programs being added are ones I run from Desktop shortcuts. I know this is not normal behavior; my laptop, also running Win 7 Professional, adds recent programs regardless of how they're launched.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI manually removed all programs from the FPL and have run a multitude of various programs yet nothing shows up. So now my list is all blank.to keep the various suggested solutions short, I know about setting the "Start Menu Size"; I've tried 5 to 20. No joy. I know about the checkbox in the Privacy area of the Start Menu tab; mine IS checked but still no joy. I know about "NoStartPage" setting in HKClassesRoot for various program types and to my knowledge.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an issue with a Corel product yesterday and the Tech said "it's a quick Registry fix", logged in and made the change....then fixed it so that I now have to do a complete reinstall. It's as if he created a whole new profile, so now I can't run certain programs even though they appear on the Program list.Rather that wrestle with a fix, easier to reinstall the software. The problem is that a directory that was once visible to me previously that contained 5gb of files is no longer visible. This apparent new Identity (or whatever they did) doesn't recognize it.The files are there. If I go to Computer, right click, Everything and do a text search for files I know are there, I can see them.Is there some freeware available that will allow me to browse everything on the harddrive, no matter which Identity created it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hope this is the correct place to ask this question. I come from Window XP. I am used to see my long list of programs all spread out so I can see what I have w/o scrolling.
Is there a way to fully display my installed programs w/o scrolling in such a small window above the start button? Have I asked this clearly? LOL. Sometimes, I may not iterate what I am trying to ask.
When I go to All Program, I cannot find Accessories in the list. I know it was between XPS Viewer and Corel Paint Shop, but it is not there anymore. Don't have a clue as to why it is gone. How do I get it back?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to control a single program from appearing on the recent programs list? I use Keepass for password management and have the program set to not remember the path of the database or key file. However, whenever I run the program, it gets populated on the recent programs list pointing straight to the location of the key file and database. Pinning the program to the taskbar does the same thing as well. I really do not want to disable the recent programs display, but I don't want anyone to be able to just have access to my passwords because the icon is right there for them to click on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use an in house program that resides on the user's Windows profile directory, and works with a custom file type. Normally I just associate a file with the correct extension ( .alc ) to the in house program via the file properties dialog in the Windows GUI without any trouble.
I have a user who changed the default program to Adobe Reader, and I am now unable to change the default program back to the one that is actually supposed to be used to open this file type. I can select the correct .exe file via the file properties dialog, but now it doesn't allow me to set our in-house .exe to as the program it should be opened with.
I also tried deleting each instance of the .alc file type from the registry ( After setting a restore point, of course.) which removes the association with Adobe Reader, but I am still unable to associate it with the correct exe.
A strange thing started to happen to my pc recently. When I double click on a *.m3u file I always goes to that pick a program to open this file dialogue. Even if i set winamp as a default program for this file type it does the same thing.
It doesn't bother me that much but I was wondering if any of you encountered this problem.
Any ideas on how to fix it ?
