I hope this is the correct place to ask this question. I come from Window XP. I am used to see my long list of programs all spread out so I can see what I have w/o scrolling.
Is there a way to fully display my installed programs w/o scrolling in such a small window above the start button? Have I asked this clearly? LOL. Sometimes, I may not iterate what I am trying to ask.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed this a few days after having to restore my drive from a True Image backup.Running Win 7 Professional.I currently have 5 "recent" programs listed in my Start Menu (not pinned). I have Properties set to show 15 recent programs. When I run a program from the Start Menu (not the "recent programs," but the full list) or from Explorer (navigate to program and double-click the exe file), the program does not get added to the list. The only recently run programs being added are ones I run from Desktop shortcuts. I know this is not normal behavior; my laptop, also running Win 7 Professional, adds recent programs regardless of how they're launched.

So now my list is all blank.to keep the various suggested solutions short, I know about setting the "Start Menu Size"; I've tried 5 to 20. No joy. I know about the checkbox in the Privacy area of the Start Menu tab; mine IS checked but still no joy. View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an issue with a Corel product yesterday and the Tech said "it's a quick Registry fix", logged in and made the change....then fixed it so that I now have to do a complete reinstall. It's as if he created a whole new profile, so now I can't run certain programs even though they appear on the Program list.Rather that wrestle with a fix, easier to reinstall the software.The problem is that a directory that was once visible to me previously that contained 5gb of files is no longer visible. This apparent new Identity (or whatever they did) doesn't recognize it.The files are there. If I go to Computer, right click, Everything and do a text search for files I know are there, I can see them.Is there some freeware available that will allow me to browse everything on the harddrive, no matter which Identity created it?

What prints out is the print options box over the screen I wanted to print. If I drag the print options box out of the way to the right side of the screen. View 5 Replies View Relatedcaught what looked like a bug, today--from an emial, I'm guessing-- everything slowed down until it virtually stopped and I manually powered down/into safe mode to work on it. It cost me an entire am to run thru all my virus 'catchers' (and came up with exactly NOTHING to show for it!!) whatever it was has, I guess, been erradicated, as everything feels back to normal.everything looks ok(except a couple of desktop icons were rearranged--but that can/does happen anyway). As I said--every looks/seems to be ok. However when I went into 'start' all the info that should be showing on the left side of that 1st page is blank! all the names on the right seems ok/present. AND when I go to 'all progs' there are no "obvious' omissions(not that I'm sure I'd recognize that one!)
I've been using comodo bkup(goes off like every night and is NOT an online bkup) and NOW, when I actually need it to get the 5/12 data, I cannot access it(but that's grist for a later discussion!!!!).so there are, apparently, for all intents/purposes NO backups to pull from. it only tells me "unabgle to open bkup file"... no matter which entry I highlight.This was(supposedly) setup by the tech that did the work on this new box so it 'should' have been ok(NOT!!!).any insight into what I can/need to do to get the backup part to work properly for the restore part CAN work?
Running Windows 7 HP with SP1 on an HP p6230 desktop computer with an AMD Phenom II.When I click on the Start button nothing happens. The Windows desktop is not frozen since I can activate any of the icons including those on the taskbar. It's just the Start button that will not respond

(It still works, I just click on the blank spot) I don't how it happened, my guess is my wife did something....she only uses it for facebook and myspace.And I just found out that it only disapears when i change the taskbar's settings to auto-hide.I sniped a pic of it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOccasionally, when on a web page with pictures/video/flash, the screen will "freeze" and have some random colored pixels appear or sometimes it will just go black. Sometimes when this happens the whole system will remain locked. Other times it will recover and I will get a notification balloon saying the the graphics driver has stopped and recovered from an error. I've looked for answers to this on the web and I have seen reference to it being caused by a Windows timeout waiting for a response from the video card. Is there a way to modify (extend) the timeout value to try to prevent this? I have the latest drivers. In my case the graphics card is NVidea Quadro FX 1800M on a Dell Precision M4500 notebook (8G RAM). OS: Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to control a single program from appearing on the recent programs list? I use Keepass for password management and have the program set to not remember the path of the database or key file. However, whenever I run the program, it gets populated on the recent programs list pointing straight to the location of the key file and database. Pinning the program to the taskbar does the same thing as well. I really do not want to disable the recent programs display, but I don't want anyone to be able to just have access to my passwords because the icon is right there for them to click on.
