So out of nowhere my computer started restarting everytime I play a game or rune a program (ie skype, ect.)

every now and then my work PC restarts itself over night and when I come into work in the morning and find this. Every time this happens, the bulk of my programs won't launch - apart from IE, file explorer and native applications like the Task Manager. It's very strange - I try to launch an application, it attempts to load then seems to die, although in the task manager I can always see each instance of the program I've tried to start, with very low memory footprint.his has just happened to me again this morning, and after an hour or so of rebooting, eventually the applications have started working again, without any change having been made by me. I have run a defrag and disk check and also updated Windows 7 with all available updates, but the issue remains. I also switched the firewall off and still had the same problem.

My computer restarts itself straight away each time! Later on I noticed when I left the computer on while I'm sleeping the computer restarts itself sometimes too. Once a BSOD appeared. I had no other issues with all the other games, til I bought and installed Dead Space today, again the same problem! Restarts when I click Play again!

So today I just went ahead and reinstalled Windows and the speed returned for the most part. The problem I am having now is that if I launch an install program it takes 15-30 seconds to load, but if I right click and "run as admin" it launches instantaneously. I turned UAC off and I'm on an admin account.

I am an architecture student and am using a program called Revit to render 3D models regularly. Due to the long render times find myself stuck waiting many hrs up to many days with my computer tied up rendering. Recently, after a lapse in smart thinking, my battery went dead and I thought I had lost 4 hrs of rendering time. I then disappointingly restarted my computer to restart the render but found that Windows had saved, as a last effort to maintain my program files and unsaved data, the progress of the render and it continued upon reboot.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhat am I doing wrong? The code stops after explorer.exe is restarted. I know this because the command prompt does not show the echo "-explorer restarted". When I look at the command prompt, the cursor seems to be on the next line, but without the normal C:UsersJohnSmith> in front of it (there is nothing in front of the cursor).
Also, if I include the command "exit" at the end of my .bat file, it doesn't seem to work. Even though if I type in exit into command prompt, the window closes.
example: Playing Diablo III while talking with friends on mumble. The game suddenly freezes and I wait to see if it shoud come back, and it never does.So I press Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the program, and the status says "Not responding" I close the program and wait like 5-10 sec until I can see it's closed in "task manager" and i try to start the program again.This happens, the cursor shows that it's "thinking" for like 2-3 sec, then nothing happens. Same problem occurs with Skype, these are the programs im 100% sure to crash everytime.I've tried to open them all as administrator.Tried compatible modessystem recoveryStart up Repair (windows 7 feature I believe)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a win 7 ultimate x64 box. I used to run XP. I loaded fresh on new drives, and installed the OS, some office and utils on drive C: as normal. I have 2 more drives, D: and E:, that I have installed about a terabyte of games/simulators on. I have installed these on both drives under program files folder. During install and setup of the OS, I turned off UAC because it was taking way to long to answer all the prompts to make sure this is what I wanted to do. So after done installing everything a week later, I flip UAC back on. Now I can't run anything without UAC kicking in and it does mess up some of my programs.
Should I just turn UAC off and leave it or do a reinstall, and put all my games on drive D and E in a folder called Games or something like that to prevent UAC from wearing me out. Other possibilities I was thinking of is renaming D: program files to d: games and do the same on drive E:, then find eplace anything in the registry from D: program files to D: games, do the same for E:. Would that work or would I wind up hosing my install?
I upgraded Vista x64 Ultimate to Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The upgrade went fine - no major issues with the upgrade process. I am, though, having some small issues when running 7:
1. Outlook 2007 process remains open after closing Outlook.
2. Very slow closing certain programs/games.
3. Gadgets doesn't work.
4. Occasional empty folder pops up on taskbar that I can't close.
5. WEI for my SATA3 HD is 2.9 - 500GB Seagate
6. System shutdowns take forever
The system, overall, seems to be quite responsive but the problems I'm running into are somewhat frustrating.
Not sure if these have been addressed in other threads yet, as I'm still searching them. I'm guessing that part of it may be due to MB driver issues, but not sure - running an EVGA 780i MB.
Im using Windows 7 now for a while. I was reading on another forums reports by multiple users about abnormal usage of RAM (100% usage) while installing games or programs and it causes stalling while CPU usage is near 0%. I also asked these question on another forum and didnt get anwser.
I was wondering why, because I didnt notice that behaviour on my computer never before. But yesterday when I was installing a game I noticed just that. The installation proces was very slow, RAM usage was 100%, CPU at zero. So I suspect a update of a kind or something similar is cousing this problem.
well my laptop was performing fine until a few weeks ago it started to freeze up during some games which it didnt before. I play games a lot so i thought my laptop had lost it efficiency but there are other games where everything is smooth.
I have done the "dxdiag","updating drivers", "windows memory diagnostics","windows update" and so on but everything seems fine. I have been going through enough posts so i think my system specifications is required.

Currently the programs/games that lags are vlc player(movies dont run as smooth as it used to), World of Warcraft, Counter Strike (offline or online). However games that requires higher graphics like Assasin's creed works just fine.
My computer is giving me problems and I think im going to reinstall windows 7 with a clean install. I would like to know if there is a way I could move my games and some of my programs without downloading them.

I usually have 70-100 fps depending where I am, but now I can barely turn the camera without getting freeze lag/ massive fps drop for some seconds, then it goes back to normal fps for a few seconds and then it starts to freeze again. And as I said I normally have around 100 fps in this area.f I dont move my camera and just walk forward I dont fps drop, but as soon as I do, I freeze..So something happened when I installed these two programs, I do not think I've got a virus because I have not heard anything negative about the programs. As far as I can tell it's nothing major.I don't believe it's my drive either. I just installed Escape From Butcher Bay a couple days ago and it went fine.Autorun pops up, however it takes a bit longer than usual and the icon for the disk is slow to load, and going through and manually executing the setup doesn't work. Nothing happens.I can't help but think this is a steam issue, but the fact that autorun is slow, doesn't really ring right either.

but it is not updating at all, when i try to launch automatic update by pressing check for update button, it instantaneously bounce back the message that your window is already up to date.
Basically whenever I try to launch a specific program (Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 64-bit to be precise), I receive the following error message:
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive DeviceHarddisk1DR1"

This error has only occurred recently, I have had the software installed for about six months with frequent use with absolutely no trouble. I have made no significant changes to my computer in the last couple of weeks (the last time I used the program) to the best of my knowledge. The software is a legit copy from Autodesk installed from a CD/DVD. I have ran a virus check with no results. I completely uninstalled and did a fresh re-install of the software and the problem still persists.
