I recently tried to open a single file with java, and now ALL my files open with it. They also have a java icon on them and a extension that my kindle spell check refuses to let me type an is like "link".

Every time this happens, the bulk of my programs won't launch - apart from IE, file explorer and native applications like the Task Manager. It's very strange - I try to launch an application, it attempts to load then seems to die, although in the task manager I can always see each instance of the program I've tried to start, with very low memory footprint.his has just happened to me again this morning, and after an hour or so of rebooting, eventually the applications have started working again, without any change having been made by me. I have run a defrag and disk check and also updated Windows 7 with all available updates, but the issue remains. I also switched the firewall off and still had the same problem.

My computer restarts itself straight away each time! Later on I noticed when I left the computer on while I'm sleeping the computer restarts itself sometimes too. Once a BSOD appeared. I had no other issues with all the other games, til I bought and installed Dead Space today, again the same problem! Restarts when I click Play again!

I can't seem to get this to go.The disk has a few minor scratches. I bought it used, so that's to be expected. As far as I can tell it's nothing major.I don't believe it's my drive either. I just installed Escape From Butcher Bay a couple days ago and it went fine.Autorun pops up, however it takes a bit longer than usual and the icon for the disk is slow to load, and going through and manually executing the setup doesn't work. Nothing happens.I can't help but think this is a steam issue, but the fact that autorun is slow, doesn't really ring right either.

Basically whenever I try to launch a specific program (Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 64-bit to be precise), I receive the following error message:
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive DeviceHarddisk1DR1"

This error has only occurred recently, I have had the software installed for about six months with frequent use with absolutely no trouble. I have made no significant changes to my computer in the last couple of weeks (the last time I used the program) to the best of my knowledge. The software is a legit copy from Autodesk installed from a CD/DVD. I have ran a virus check with no results. I completely uninstalled and did a fresh re-install of the software and the problem still persists.

So today I just went ahead and reinstalled Windows and the speed returned for the most part. The problem I am having now is that if I launch an install program it takes 15-30 seconds to load, but if I right click and "run as admin" it launches instantaneously. I turned UAC off and I'm on an admin account.

I installed it, it asked me to restart explorer.exe by pressing the button. I got the error that it could not start. Itrecommended that I restart the computer before all changes take place. For example, (URL) will display the version that is installed, but (url) will succeed. Well, I detected that I was playing Minecraft SP on Java 32 bit, when I have a x64 OS. I tried downloading and installing x64 Java but it made no difference. I tried uninstalling the x86 version but when I opened Minecraft it gave me an error saying that it was missing some files prior to me uninstalling the x86 version of Java 7.
