Whenever I try to launch the hp system recovery tool I try pressing the f11 key but it just takes me to my os instead of its splash screen, any work around for this?

View 11 Replies View RelatedShortly after installing a theme (I can not remember as I can't get into the file system) which is as far as I can see a perfectly legitimate theme (recommended by a user from overclock.net) explorer.exe hasn't worked. I installed it, it asked me to restart explorer.exe by pressing the button. I got the error that it could not start. Itrecommended that I restart the computer before all changes take place. I assumed that I had to restart the computer for Explorer.EXE to work. It did not. At startup, the following happened and now does every time I start it up: (A note, sorry for the low quality photo's, I'm letting someone using my DSLR as they're on holidays.)Everything goes seemingly normal in the BIOS.FYI, the debug code on the motherboard is AA so all is fine according to the debug code.Just before Windows logs me in (just after the Windows logo at boot) there is a blacks screen displayed for a significant amount of time. As I have an SSD, it shouldn't be there and it shouldn't take that long.

i have a full hard drive and my computer crashed. so i did acer ecovery using F10 to start up and restore my computer to what it was when i got it but keeping my files. well i dont have enough space on the harddrive to do a restore. how can i go about deleting some space for it to put my system back to normal

Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable. (I've also tried Universal USB Installer, this time with no errors. But when i connect it to my mac, nothing happens.

I have had the generic.win virus on my computer for a while now due to my anti virus program not being able to remove it. It has been causing internet browsing issues specifically with google and other search engines. However I believe that the virus has corrupted my "Windows repair tool" that is required to reformat my system. I start my computer and hold F8 to bring up the menu and select the repair computer option and it brings me to the menu where I can either "start windows normally" or run system repair tool.
When I try to run the system repair tool I know it is supposed to bring me to a menu to select language and what not and ultimately restore my computer. Unfortunately it just returns to the normal boot up and repair option over and over upon selecting the option. I just want a virus free computer. My system is a dell inspirion running 64 bit windows 7. I have backed up all the files.
I want to have a Factory Reset of my computer. In order to launch a System Recovery, I need to create Restore Discs. When I launch the Recovery Disc Creation, it says:"This computer does not have a burning drive, which is required to make DVDs. Please contact HP Support for asistance."My computer did not come with a build in CD Drive. Even plugging in a USB CD Drive will not make creating the discs possible. So. I ask you. How can I reset my computer to Factory Condition?

I decided to do a system recovery for my laptop. I've already done a couple of experiments before and from what I remember the first time I done a system recovery, the partition where my personal files where saved did not get deleted.The only thing that was "system recovered" was the partition where the OS was located. Yesterday, I again decided to do a recovery but this time, the partition where I have my files got deleted and the space it had "returned" to the OS partition. Orignally, I shrunk the OS partition so that I can have space for my partition for my personal files.If it helps, I've done a "system recovery" but saw one of it has a "mini system recovery" option. What is the difference?

I tried to do a system restore on it but half-way through it reported an error and aborted. Since a recovery disc wasn't provided or made, we bought one from a website provided by Neosmart.net and burned it onto a blank CD. The CD starts up but the problem is that it can't find the Windows 7 operating system. It was the only OS installed on the hard drive.

So I put in the Acer Recovery Discs that I made when I first purchased the computer. Now I have used this discs before with no problems at all. So I put the first disc in, selected the option to do a complete system restore back to factory defaults. It's my understanding that this completely wipes the OS off the HDD. So the first disc ran with no problems. I put the second disc in and got an error message Fail to copy to HDD: D:PatchModulesWIncre.002WOP000460OX0TCB111.SWM Press OK to continue I press OK to continue, and it boots back to the BIOS screen. Then it goes to a black screen and says BOOTMGR IS MISSING. PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL TO CONTINUE.So I put the recovery disc back in to try the process over again and same thing happens.

I then did a restore to a point before the problem and now the computer will not boot. I have tried to do a system recover from the hard drive and it goes though some loading and then a black screen with a cursor that I can move, but nothing to click on. I have two sets of recovery disk, one set made the day I bought the computer and another I made recently. I get the same results with the disk as when trying to recover from the hard drive.I have now install Linux Mint duel boot so that I can use my computer, but would like to get Windows working again.

Now when it boots it has a black screen that says Windows Memory Error and gives two options, Start Windows Recovery or Start Windows Normally. When he realized what he had done he tried the recovery tool first. It had a Windows is Loading files bar that didn't move at all so he left it on all night. It never moved, so he tried option 2 it brought up the 5 Recovery tools none of them did anything helpful. We tried using safe mode, it doesn't work either, brings back to useless Windows Recovery tools. We went out and Bought an OEM since the person we bought this from forgot to give us the Install Discs, We got to Repair Your Computer option below Install, it said our version of windows wasn't the right version for the OEM so it was a waste of $200. Now I am stuck and out of ideas. I've hooked the harddrives up to our old Windows XP and virus scanned, check disced, and backed up them. how to recover and repair without reformatting/wiping the HDD?

I have a Samsung Q430 Intel i5 with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium (SP1), and the computer randomly started to lag, so I restarted it. It logged in successfully the first few times, but became extremely laggy after login, until it froze up completely each time. I then tried the recovery CD, and it worked the first time, but nothing changed, and it was still laggy. However, the computer could not even get past the black loading screen anymore, and began on a continuous reboot cycle, each time ending with a flash of a BSOD that I couldn't catch. It restarts to two options: Launch startup repair or Start windows normally, both of which end up freezing and restarting.I have tried:-Safe Mode (worked first time, but was laggy, and now it just freezes during loading)-Last Known good configuration (nothing happened)-Recovery CD (becomes stuck while trying to find the OS, says "Drive E: 0 bytes, windows 7 and never finishes loading)-Installation CD (stuck at entering setup screen)The only thing that really works is the Ubuntu Live CD.

3. The C: is the HP_RECOVERY partition.
4. The C:HP_RECOVERY partition is set to ACTIVE.
5. I have rebuilt the BCD from scratch.
6. There is a BOOT (X partition which shows on the CMD. Someone said its the RAM virtual partition.
7. Upon booting the system gives WINDOWSsystem32winload.exe error.
8. The f11 or recovery manager ain't working.
What I Want
1. I want to do a factory restore.
I recently purchased HP Envy 4-1025 TX which came preinstalled with Windows Home Basic X64bit. Since it was having a single partition of 500 GB, i decided to do partition and for that i used bootable USB Drive to make 2 partitions, one of 50 GB and other of remaining space. After partitioning i abort the process in middle and then pressed F11 for system recovery but that didn't worked and finally i used that bootable USB Drive only to clean install Windows Home Basic. My problem is that i want to restore system to factory image using recovery partition since activation would be a issue. Now i tried many steps to use recovery partition like I made recovery partition as active and then boot but it is not working and rather windows opens up. I also did try to change letter of recovery partition to D: but that also didn't help. I also tried HP UEFI Update but that is also not working and giving error that your drive already has 4 partitions. The remaining disk space of about 395 GB is also unallocated, i can't allocate it since when i try to allocate it, it gives error that there is no space for new partition as MBR is full.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 x64 desktop box developed a problem this morning with the ACLS file that Windows diagnostics could not fix. After several attempts, I decided to do a non-destructive re-set via the recovery management software included with the box (eMachines 1331, which came with no disks, only recovery partition).
The process seemed to go smoothly, but the Restore Progress screen has been sitting at 'Please wait a moment...' for well over an hour now and I'm puzzled. Shouldn't there be some sort of progress bar indicating how long remaining in the process, or is it meant to just sit on the 'Please wait a moment...' with the trailing dots cycling from 1 to 5 dots as it is doing?
The drive is 683 gigs usable, with about 50% in use for files and programs.
Today i tried to use Windows Anytime Upgrade but after checkingmy code it said that i need to turn on system recoveryi go to:computer>properties>system protectionand then i get an error saying run system recovery again (0X81000203)then were it says available disks it says searching forever...this is really annoying not only because i cant use Anytime Upgradebut also because system recovery is very good if my systemhas tons of crashes and other problems

That being said, here's what happened.I booted up our Sony Viao running Windows 7 and a window popped up talking about system recovery. At the time I didn't even know what that meant, so I was like "what's this BS" and exited out of the window. Then the computer went into system recovery mode. I just thought it was doing an update of some sort, so I walked away and let it do it's thing. I at the time didn't know that while I was watching tv, our computer was erasing all of our data. When I came back, it was finished and said "restoring to factory settings". Then it set-up for first time use, pick a password, ect. Loosing our important documents is one thing, but we're super bummed we lost all of pictures of our daughters first year and a half of life.
