I am currently running Java JRE5u22.If JRE6uxx is installed, then the Java Control panel does not open, and java works randomly. For example, (URL) will display the version that is installed, but (url) will succeed. Some applications that depend on Java will not work, but they did before with a JRE6uxx So something happened that render JRE6uxx partially broken.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 660 with Windows 7. I have downloaded Java numerous times using the three standard browsers and it will not take/work. I know Java isn't the best program in the world to have on a computer, but I use it for playing games (which is my primary "entertainment" use of the computer). It is frustrating for this not to work.

I just installed the 64bit vesion of java. I am trying to save a video from keepvid, but it keeps showing that java is not installed or disabled. I installed it and it said that it was in fact installed but it does not show up in program files, browser, or manage add-ons. I have tried quite a few things after searching around. Nothing seems to be working.

For the last few weeks in rarely touching minecraft, whenever I did, I'd get an "Out of Memory!!" Error message and quit the game. Well, I detected that I was playing Minecraft SP on Java 32 bit, when I have a x64 OS. I tried downloading and installing x64 Java but it made no difference. I tried uninstalling the x86 version but when I opened Minecraft it gave me an error saying that it was missing some files prior to me uninstalling the x86 version of Java 7.

I have been using a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 Windows 7 for almost 24 hrs. It feels as if it is going to be a slow uphill battle getting to make sense out of this OS.
find Sun Java's Preferences. Looked on Internet Options Advanced and can find nothing there.

I have Windows 7 and I use Avast antivirus. For some reason Java keeps downloading and update and trying to install Java 7.0, but it is everyday. I have taken just to denying the update after hearing that Java 7.0 might have security issues, but does anybody know why it won't install or keeps trying to install. Under the Java control panel it shows I have Java 7.

Apparently some scheduler got activated which I have no idea Why, I did not activate it. I have never received this notification from Java before asking my permission to make changes on my computer. I click No.I tried to fix it by hiding notifications on the desktop (see attached), but it did not do a job - I still get them. How to make Java stop sending these damn notifications? I get them like every so often.

My computer is installed with a legal copy of MS Windows 7, SP 1. My hardware is an AMD Phenom II 3.30 GHz with 8 GB RAM and I am installing to a 10 GB partition. I am currently attempting to install from the Administrator account, though I have also made the attempt from a user account.I have the file jdk-6u24-windows-x64.exe that I activate. This gives me the Windows prompt "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" When I select "Yes," the screen immediately goes back to viewing the folder and nothing else happens.I just now used Revo to uninstall everything remotely related to Java from my list of installed software. This has not had any affect on my Java installation efforts, though I did get a notice that I would no longer receive a prompt for automatic updates to Java (those never worked, anyway).I built this computer at the beginning of this year, but I have never been able to install a Java compiler to it. I need this to work because I am struggling to pass Java classes that are required for me to graduate with an AS degree in Computer Science.

I just performed a complete re-installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x32 onto a friend's Acer Aspire 5920 which was previously running Windows Vista x32.
All was perfect until I installed a Java and a program that needed it. When I ran the Java dependent program, it came up with an error message stating that Java Runtime Environment was either missing or outdated. I then uninstalled Java and reinstalled directly from the Java website. However, on the verification screen after the installation, my Java was not detected and I was told that "Something is wrong. Java is not working."
I followed the troubleshooting instructions on the website and alas it still will not work/be detected.
I then went searching around online for answers and I ended up doing a clean boot in safemode. There I disabled all running services that were not from Microsoft. Then I revisited the Java site and it was able to detect it. However, after rebooting to normal windows Java still can not be detected even with not running the services I turned off in Safemode.

Ever since I installed the most recent Java update (31) Internet explorer asks for the administrator password to run Java every time it starts. Also even when given on one of my user accounts it will say "java not installed" on some websites. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and even changing my security settings.

I came back home after being gone for 6 weeks to find that everything involving Java seems to fail or crash. I noticed it originally because the launcher program for Minecraft would not open at all. Also going to the Minecraft website to try and play online said I needed a Java plugin. When I downloaded the plugin and reloaded the page my browser (IE and firefox) instantly closed down with no error report. The browsers also crash at the Java website after clicking on the "Verify java Version" button.I have uninstalled all Java related things, restarted, scanned for viruses with Security essentials and malware with malware bytes. Reinstalled Java and still the same problems. I have tried this with only 32 bit java or only 64 bit or both installed together. I have also tried downloading an older Java 6 version.I also noticed that the Java control panel does not open (open control panel, search 'java' and click 'Java 32-bit') and if I have Java uninstalled then the Minecraft launcher pops up telling me that I need java installed.I am using 64 bit Windows 7 but my main browser is 32bit firefox. All my searching online involves browsers crashing but showing error messages or Minecraft launcher opening but then showing only a black screen rather than not opening at all.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Java won't run in IE9 but will run in Firefox and Chrome. When I go to Verify Java Version at Java.com in Firefox and Chrome they return Version 7 Update 9 but the test never returns a result in IE9. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Java add-ons are enabled. Security settings look ok.Some sites return "An add-on for this website failed to run". Same sites in Firefox and Chrome work fine. Java games don't work in IE9 but same games play in Firefox and Chrome.

I'm having a very strange problem with my System32 folder. Basically if I move files into System32 I cannot open them while they are in there but once I move them back out I can open them again. For example I am trying to add some .dlls for a java library and they will open with programmers notepad fine on the desktop but as soon as I move them into System32 I get an error saying the files do not exist when I try and open them. But if I copy them back out again they will open fine again. ( A normal text file also has the same problem )I have access to another computer running Windows 7 Ultimate X86 and I didn't have the same issues. I did go through and compare permissions on System32 between the two and I couldn't really see a difference. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium X64.

I'm having trouble installing 64 bit java on my new Asus laptop running windows 7 x64. I've tried both offline and online installations of both version 6u26 and the new verion 7 jre to no avail. When I try to intall the exe i've downloaded from the java website, I go through the usual "click yes for authentication" and then the installer appears for an instant with its little green bar and dissapears. The installer no longer shows up in my task manager, though the process still exists. The installation just hangs indefinatly with no errors. If i try to reload the installer exe I get an error
"Installer : Wrapper.CreateFile failed with error 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
All of the "fixes" i've found via google require you to uninstall the previous version, but I have no previous version of 64 bit Java installed. All i have is a 32 bit java and I'm hesitant to uninstall that. I thought it might be my antivirus/firewall (which shuouldent matter for the offline versions) so I turned them off for an installation attempt with no success. Windows is fully updated so no problems there and it was a clean install, as i swapped out the stock hard drive for an SSD, so any bloatware issue is non existant. No problems installing other programs.

I have 64 bit windows 7. Why won't java install the 64 bit version? It would only install the 32 bit one. When I try to play my favorite gamesville.com bingo game, I get a message that says MICROSOFT JScript COMPILATION ERROR. aND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOX IT SAYS EXPECTED.
