Where Is Java Preferences On Windows 7

Jan 8, 2011

I have been using a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 Windows 7 for almost 24 hrs. It feels as if it is going to be a slow uphill battle getting to make sense out of this OS.

find Sun Java's Preferences. Looked on Internet Options Advanced and can find nothing there.

Change The Java Path So Windows 7 Can Find The Java.exe?

Aug 22, 2011

Ok, I have looked everywhere and tried several "solutions" to get windows to recognize where Java.exe so it can run .jar files.I'm running windows 7 64-bit with java 1.6 32-bit installed. And when I try to install craftbukkit I only get errors.I have copied these errors so you can view them at...So I searched all over google and tried to go to my computer, advanced settings, path and add the path there but i still get the same errors.I've been all over the mine craft and bukkit forums but no one there can explain how to fix it

Windows Overriding Software Preferences

Oct 12, 2010

When I use Starcraft 2 Editor I can go into Preferences and change stuff like background color, fonts and font sizes. No changes I make takes effect, though.I believe it's because of Windows 7 somehow overriding it.
I tried changing window color and stuff directly in windows, and that worked. (Too bad it also works on everything else, such as web browsers, etc.)Can anyone help me to change the preferences only in SC2 Editor, without Windows interfering?

How To Automate User Preferences In Windows 7

Sep 4, 2010

After doing a basic install of Windows 7, patch etc, I would like to be able to automate many post-install setup options/preferences and I'm wondering what the best approach to this would be. For example, adding specific toolbars, resizing toolbar and buttons, folder options, etc... all the little things we tweak after we get our system setup. The only thing that comes to mind now is to watch the registry with some software and see where the changes I make get recorded, my fear is that not all of them may be stored there...

User Account Preferences From Previous Versions Not Available In Windows 7?

Dec 22, 2011

I remember back when we were using XP, 2000, ME, 98 and even 95 versions of windows, we had the option to change the login screen so that you HAD to type in both username and password. I know public PC's are often setup this way too, but I can't figure out how to do this on my windows 7 PC, and would very much like to use this option.

Clean Install Windows 7 - Transferring Files / Programs And Preferences

Feb 13, 2011

I've just done a clean install on a blank hard drive of windows 7 ultimate x64. I had this exact version of windows on another hard drive but I did something and now I can't boot into it any more. So I want to transfer all my files and stuff - I can link up and view everything on my old hard drive, it just won't boot - is there any software or any easy way to transfer my program files so that I don't have to reinstall them all? Also, I'm not sure how to transfer all my windows settings - is it just a file somewhere that I copy across? I've had a look at 'windows easy transfer' but it looks like it only works if you can boot into both operating systems - which I can't.

Dialog Box Of Printer Preferences Is Cropped

Aug 8, 2011

Windows 7 32bit. The Dialog Box of the Printer Properties where several buttons are, is cropped both at the bottom and at the right sides. If I change the DPI to 200% then all the text is shown. This is the only dialog box where this anomaly is shown. It seems that the zooming [/I]of the whole menu is incorrect, so on two sides the text is not displayed. The printer is Epson Stylus DX 3800. Epson support could not help: it appears that is a Windows 7 problem. I tried several times to unistall and reinstall the oem driver, unsuccesfully.

How To Reset Wireless Network Preferences

Oct 1, 2012

I am connected on a hotel's network at which I am staying. When I connected I opted to use the basic free connection type. Essentially I learned the speed is too slow and I should have choose to upgrade my wireless option to the quicker paid version. I have removed all settings from my browser, Chrome. I disconnected my wireless on my laptop and restarted windows. I can't figure out how to reset and have the option to upgrade wireless speed. I can go to the page but it just says you are connected no options to upgrade. I just need to reset my options.

Printer Preferences - Missing Settings

Jan 21, 2009

I installed the Windows 7 beta yesterday and so far have been pretty impressed. I do have one gripe and was wondering if anyone on here has a similar problem (or better yet a solution ).

My printer, an HP All in one 1510, installs fine. The drivers are downloaded on windows update and the printer shows up in the devices center and I can print to it.

The problem is that a number of the settings that I could control under "Printer Preferences" are gone. I print out a lot of documents and so I usually have my printer on its "fast draft" setting. I tried installing the HP drivers on the website and nothing seems to change.

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have any advice on trying to get all the settings there?

64 Bit Java Won't Install On Windows 7 X64

Aug 11, 2011

I'm having trouble installing 64 bit java on my new Asus laptop running windows 7 x64. I've tried both offline and online installations of both version 6u26 and the new verion 7 jre to no avail. When I try to intall the exe i've downloaded from the java website, I go through the usual "click yes for authentication" and then the installer appears for an instant with its little green bar and dissapears. The installer no longer shows up in my task manager, though the process still exists. The installation just hangs indefinatly with no errors. If i try to reload the installer exe I get an error

"Installer : Wrapper.CreateFile failed with error 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

All of the "fixes" i've found via google require you to uninstall the previous version, but I have no previous version of 64 bit Java installed. All i have is a 32 bit java and I'm hesitant to uninstall that. I thought it might be my antivirus/firewall (which shuouldent matter for the offline versions) so I turned them off for an installation attempt with no success. Windows is fully updated so no problems there and it was a clean install, as i swapped out the stock hard drive for an SSD, so any bloatware issue is non existant. No problems installing other programs.

I have downloaded both manually and online latest Java versions for both 64bit and 32bit browsers. When I try to install I get Error 1606. Could not access network location %ADPDATA%/. It then just gives option to retry. Or Windows lets me select "successful" and override(?) but its still the case that I go to Java Test and they cant find a Java Installed. I have done this in both Admin and User mode.

Java Thread Not Working In Windows 7

Problem: On Windows 7, when the app spawns the job, Windows sits and waits for the spawned job to complete before it continues on. In other words, 2 things DO NOT happen at once. It's as if Java threading does not work in Windows 7.

Java Update Causes Windows 7 To Not Start

Nov 11, 2012

I am having an issue with the latest update of Java in Win 7. I am running Win 7 (64 bit) with IE 9 and also Norton Internet Security 2012 The default version of IE9 is that I have always used in Program Files (x86) folder (32 bit version I believe) I keep getting asked to run the Java Version checker which tells me there is an updated version that I should instal. It installs but it does not appear to do a Java version check after update like it always has previously. IE add ons then shows additional entries of Java version 7 update 9 Each time I agree to update, my computer is unable to start at the next switch on, without doing a System Restore, removing the version 7 update 9 Control Panel & IE Explorer show the following (after System Restore) Under Programs Java, it shows Version 6 Update 20 Under Programs Programs and Features it shows Java 7 Update 7 (Version 7.0.70) Java (TM)6 Update 20 (Version 6.0.200) Java FX 2.1.1 (Version 2.1.1) In IE 9 add ons it shows Java Plug-in SSV Helper 7.0.70.10 Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper7.0.70.10?
