Java Installing On Windows 7 And Firefox?

Aug 17, 2011

I have windows 7 Firefox 5.0. If I goto Java Test page it says I have no Java versions installed. But in Tools I have under Add-ons Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.2407 enabled. I have downloaded both manually and online latest Java versions for both 64bit and 32bit browsers. When I try to install I get Error 1606. Could not access network location %ADPDATA%/. It then just gives option to retry. Or Windows lets me select "successful" and override(?) but its still the case that I go to Java Test and they cant find a Java Installed. I have done this in both Admin and User mode.

64 Bit Java Won't Install On Windows 7 X64

Aug 11, 2011

I'm having trouble installing 64 bit java on my new Asus laptop running windows 7 x64. I've tried both offline and online installations of both version 6u26 and the new verion 7 jre to no avail. When I try to intall the exe i've downloaded from the java website, I go through the usual "click yes for authentication" and then the installer appears for an instant with its little green bar and dissapears. The installer no longer shows up in my task manager, though the process still exists. The installation just hangs indefinatly with no errors. If i try to reload the installer exe I get an error

"Installer : Wrapper.CreateFile failed with error 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

All of the "fixes" i've found via google require you to uninstall the previous version, but I have no previous version of 64 bit Java installed. All i have is a 32 bit java and I'm hesitant to uninstall that. I thought it might be my antivirus/firewall (which shuouldent matter for the offline versions) so I turned them off for an installation attempt with no success. Windows is fully updated so no problems there and it was a clean install, as i swapped out the stock hard drive for an SSD, so any bloatware issue is non existant. No problems installing other programs.

Java Thread Not Working In Windows 7

Aug 18, 2010

I have a Java app that runs just fine on Windows XP. However, on Windows 7 there is a problem related to a job being done via a Java thread. Background: The app spawns a separate job via a Java thread and continues on while the spawned job executes. In other words, 2 things happen at once.

Problem: On Windows 7, when the app spawns the job, Windows sits and waits for the spawned job to complete before it continues on. In other words, 2 things DO NOT happen at once. It's as if Java threading does not work in Windows 7.

Java Update Causes Windows 7 To Not Start

Nov 11, 2012

I am having an issue with the latest update of Java in Win 7. I am running Win 7 (64 bit) with IE 9 and also Norton Internet Security 2012 The default version of IE9 is that I have always used in Program Files (x86) folder (32 bit version I believe) I keep getting asked to run the Java Version checker which tells me there is an updated version that I should instal. It installs but it does not appear to do a Java version check after update like it always has previously. IE add ons then shows additional entries of Java version 7 update 9 Each time I agree to update, my computer is unable to start at the next switch on, without doing a System Restore, removing the version 7 update 9 Control Panel & IE Explorer show the following (after System Restore) Under Programs Java, it shows Version 6 Update 20 Under Programs Programs and Features it shows Java 7 Update 7 (Version 7.0.70) Java (TM)6 Update 20 (Version 6.0.200) Java FX 2.1.1 (Version 2.1.1) In IE 9 add ons it shows Java Plug-in SSV Helper 7.0.70.10 Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper7.0.70.10?

Java Applet Displays Incorrectly In Windows 7

Jun 14, 2011

As my school project I, with help, have created a remotely controlled real-time closed circuit TV system for the school so that teachers can post messages on TVs, sort of like an information board system. One way to leave a message is through a website with a java applet. The applet we made works fine on windows xp, but works curiously on windows 7. It runs in the browser and asks the client to accept the certificate, but when the user clicks on run the applet doesn't come up. It's there, the buttons come up if you move the mouse pointer over them and the text becomes visible if you press ctrl+a. It works too, all the functions work properly, if you can navigate. It works in windows 7 safe mode though. I've tried turning of services, making a clean boot, running the browser in safe mode and changing the html tags (applet, object, embed) and nothing's working. It's not the firewall or antivirus. It's just something with windows 7. I need to fix it- half the teachers have windows 7.

I've managed to narrow the problem down. The applet apparently works fine in windows 7 with the colors turned down to 16 bits. Doesn't work in 32 bits mode on windows 7, but works in both modes on xp. Now, it's not the graphic card I've tested with others OSs on same computers. Firefox I can set to start in XPsp3 compatibility mode in properties and it works even in 32bit color mode on windows 7. But Internet Explorer can't be set to start in the compatibility mode because it's part of this version of windows Due to this undesirable problem I will have to configure computers of the entire staff. I've even tried tweaking with the graphic card properties hoping there'd be a box to uncheck somewhere. Without positive outcome. Switching all computers to 16-bit mode seems pretty intrusive as it disables Windows Live Thumbnails and Aero Peak. I'm looking for a way to make it work for the teachers without them having to edit advanced settings or decreasing functionality of their computers. If there is an advanced setting to be changed, the schools computer service will do it.

Flash And Java Not Working In Windows 7 On Any Browser

Oct 1, 2011

i only ever use firefox, and would always keep it and other programs such as flash and java up to date. one day, some websites just quit working, like facebook, Internet, netflix, and various game sites. this problem continued for a few weeks, and i didn't do anything to try and problem solve it. then everything seemed to magically fix itself, so i figured that an automatic update had done the trick. however, a few months ago those problems started again and since then i have read many threads on how to fix them, uninstalled and reinstalled ff, java and flash countless times, including past versions of all of them. i even tried using ie and chrome, but i had the same problems with those browsers. as of right now, i cannot view flash based game sites (such as omgpop). i used to not be able to play games on facebook, but as of yesterday those suddenly work again. i cannot watch streaming videos on netflix, but Internet works fine. i cannot view content on many web pages (for example google images does not work at all, nor does googlemaps or mapquest). some pages only load partially even though it says they are 'done'. i often see 'javascript:void(0)' on websites. currently i am running the current versions of java and flash and ff 3.6. i have checked pop up blockers and script enabling and just about everything else. i am at a total loss of what to do. (even as i am typing this, i cannot click on any of the text editing tools or smilies and this is showing up as one big paragraph...)
