Java 32bit Taking So Long To Install On Windows 7?
Oct 7, 2011Wy is java 32 bit taking so long to install on windows 7 the 64bit installed fine now I have been trying to install 32bit and I have tried closing my firewall and antivirus as well as the manual and have uninstalled the java that was installed. Now it has been installing for 6 hrs and I don't know what else to try?

Jan 29, 2013i go to bbc.co.uk/iplayer, i click on something i want to watch i get there and the page appears but with no pre-video image or play button.i have just down graded from windows 7 64bit to windows 7 32bit as i thought this may have been the problem, due to flash 64bit problems. so i have a fresh install of windows 7.i have tried quite a few things, please see the list below:1. both firefox, chrome, ie 9 & ie 10. all with no flash or java installed, i know this is not right, but something interesting happened. the website did exactly the same thing as before, there was nothing telling me on the bbc website that flash was needed and go here to download it.2. installed different versions of flash and java, and in combinations of old & old, old & new, new & old, new & new.3. i have tried older versions of browers, this made no difference.4. my wifes computer does the same thing with firefox and chrome, but ie 9 does work correctly. we copied all settings from internet options, ie 9's settings from her's to mine. still nothing.
5. i have tried clearing cashe, nothing changed.6. i have removed flash and java. then just installed google chrome, as this has flash built in. i then tried bbc iplayer and still nothing. i then install java, again nothing.7. there have been other website as well as bbc iplayer, that are not working.these problems happen in all browsers on my computer and on all browsers except ie9 on my wifes computer.my system:amd athlon ii x4 635 2.90ghzgeforce 8800gs4gb ramrunning windows 7 32bitmy wifes system:amd athlon 64 x2 dualcore 6000+ati radeon 64504bg ramrunning windows 7 64bithowever our sony vaio plays all video types on all browers, running windows 7 32bit.Internet runs fine on my computer. when i check flash version on adobe site the flash created box appears telling me my version. it seems odd that some types of flash run whilst others do not. when they're not working, there is no error message, just an empty box where the flash item should be.

Oct 15, 2012I installed the 32 bit windows ultimate by accident which limits me to the 4 GB ram, bearing in mind i have 8 GB. As i already had my preferences and programs installed, i did not have the time to do a fresh install. So i downloaded and ran a 'patch' which changes the kernel settings? Could someone please tell me if this would be safe, or would i be expecting memory dumps in the near future?

Mar 13, 2011I have two laptops, that are at the same DOMAIN (not workgroup) at work. One runs Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and the other Windows XP professional 32 bit (with SP3). There, a domain controller takes care of all authentication issues and I have no problems sharing files from the one to the other and vice-versa. Question is, what happens at home/other place where there is no domain controller available? I have a wireless modem/router and I can, indeed, "see" one computer from the other (in the network folder of course).
But I cannot access the one from the other and I get an error message when I try to, with the usual "so-and-so is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command." (when trying to access the XP PC from the Windows 7 one). I take the last line to mean that there is no domain controller (which is correct).
Installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (From 32bit)?
Nov 30, 2011I am using Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I am planning on installing the 64 bit version soon. Before I do I wanted to know if it could be installed on just one partition. My 500 GB hard disk has about 7 partitions ( C : , D: , E : etc). If I want to install windows 7 64 bit on the primary C: Drive (Clean install) would it affect the other partitions, which has data on them? (D: , E: etc?) like erase or not make them function. Also will my external hard disks which worked on 32 bit system (seagate goFlex Desk) work on the 64 bit after i plug it in after the install? All of my externals have my backups and I wouldn't want them erased.

Nov 2, 2012I try to start up windows after entering my password at the screen it loads for a while then i am faced with my desktop background and icons show up. If i move my mouse cursor to the bottom taskbar to click start it has the loading circle. If i click anything on my desktop that wont work either. i tried several things but i dont want to fresh install as i have tons of data and files that i need to keep otherwise i would have just went ahead with the fresh install. The things i tried were
1. tried system repair, but i get this "windows cannot repair this computer automatically"
2. I just tried sfc/scannow and I got the following message: There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete. Restart windows and try sfc again.
3. i then did the scanow offline command i found it said scanning and then after 20 min i get this "SFC Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation FIX''
4. Memory tool but i can't see results because as soon as i sign in it freezes
5. ctrl,alt ad del dont work screen goes black then i wait till a message pops up and click enter then it brings me back to the desktop
6. i scanned pc with avg and malawarebytes no viruses.
I called dell but my protection ran out 2 weeks ago and they want 270 for software help i really dont have that type of money as the mortgage gets taken out and im a little behind if not i would have went that option. If you need more infor write in the thread and ill try as i cant really access anything on the pc.
the computer im using is a dell xps 420 ram 4gb hdd 1tb

But, since this computer was used from my brother he had installed Windows 7 Pro. Since my computer was very slow, I'd thought I'd do a new install. And as clueless as I was I installed Ultimate instead of Pro. My computer became really fast once again but I couldn't play my games anymore.

Oct 16, 2012I have 3 systems each running Windows 7 Ultimate on a home network (not a home group). I have an HP Laserjet 1022 attached via USB to system #3 (32 bit). System #1 is 64 bit and #2 is 32 bit. System #2 prints fine on system #3. When system #1 (64 bit) prints, the entry is made into the print queue of #3, but never prints. I've tried restarting the print spooler to no avail. Print entry from #1 cannot be cancelled. I have to manually delete the spooler entry for the print job from C:/Windows/system32/spool/PRINTERS.Without getting into finger pointing at HP, is there a problem with the printing software in Windows 7 when OS word sizes are mixed ? Is the HP Laserjet 1022 driver too old to be used (the driver states it was modified this current year)?

Sep 30, 2011I brought two brand new Sabrent 6 Channel 5.1 Sound 3D PCI Sound Cards. Installed both on two exact systems except one is running windows XP and the other is running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
No problems installing card and driver in the XP machine, but the window 7 doesn't even pick up that's it's there. I tried to installed the driver hoping maybe this will cause windows to see the card but the installation starts and after a few seconds comes up with and error message that says "Do not support this platform 0" this is coming from the CD that came with the card.
I tried downloading and installing the driver from Sabrent, and C-Media and with each installation attempt same error message.

Jan 21, 2013So yesterday I turned off my PC. Nothing was wrong, everything was fine as it always was, nothing unusual, no random slowdowns, errors, etc. The next day I went to turn on my PC and that when it happened... the infamous Black Screen of Death. Just a black background with my cursor. I don't have the original disc with Windows because my friend upgraded my Windows XP to Windows 7.
- Task manager doesn't work. (ctrl + alt + del, and all the other ones that have to do with opening a window)
- Safe mode doesn't work, none of them.
- Tried PervX fix, didn't work. (Though I did it through Windows XP by booting to earlier version of Windows, so it probably wouldn't effect Windows 7 anyways.)
- Tried Malwarebytes on both of my HDD's, one containing Windows XP, the other containing Windows 7.
- Tried ALL options through the Repair Windows boot using F8.
- Tried most options I could think of in command prompt through the Repair Windows boot.
- Tried ALL other boot options in F8.
- Tried a lot of other stuff I can't remember, but I'm more than happy to hear replies with possible fixes, even if I tried them but didn't list.
