Sharing Printer Between 64bit And 32bit Windows 7 Ultimate?

Oct 16, 2012

I have 3 systems each running Windows 7 Ultimate on a home network (not a home group). I have an HP Laserjet 1022 attached via USB to system #3 (32 bit). System #1 is 64 bit and #2 is 32 bit. System #2 prints fine on system #3. When system #1 (64 bit) prints, the entry is made into the print queue of #3, but never prints. I've tried restarting the print spooler to no avail. Print entry from #1 cannot be cancelled. I have to manually delete the spooler entry for the print job from C:/Windows/system32/spool/PRINTERS.Without getting into finger pointing at HP, is there a problem with the printing software in Windows 7 when OS word sizes are mixed ? Is the HP Laserjet 1022 driver too old to be used (the driver states it was modified this current year)?

Sharing A Printer - New 64bit Windows 7 And An Old 32bit Vista PCs

Jul 21, 2011

I built it mainly for my 14yo to do school work and video games on rather to replace our aging desktop which is still used also. The old machine runs 32-bit Vista while the new one is 64-bit Win7, of course. In our reorganization we moved our Canon MP610 printer to be hooked up to the new machine, but it'd be great if we could share it amongst both pc's and my older son's new laptop. I've search and read lots of sites online, but can't really find a solution to get the old pc to be able to "see" the printer to share.

Sharing Canon Printer From Windows 7 32bit To 64bit

Mar 13, 2010

Have a Canon ip6000d printer hooked up to a Win7 32bit machine. I installed the "printer add-on module" for Win7 on this machine and it prints fine. I share it across the network so that I can print from my Win7 64bit laptop but I can not install the driver for it. The laptop sees the printer when I try to "add a printer" but it looks for a 64bit driver. So I installed the "printer add-on module" onto the laptop, and still nothing, it continues to look for a driver. So I then directly connected the printer (usb) to the laptop, it installed itself and works perfectly fine. So I reconnected it back to the 32bit machine and tried to "add a printer" again over the network and it still asks for the 64driver. I can't find a regular .inf driver file anywhere for this printer, just the damn "printer add-on module".

Printer Sharing Driver Issues - 32bit Vs. 64bit

Oct 24, 2009

I have read on this forum a few people with printer sharing issues, but my problem seems to be a bit different, heres my problem:

I have a HP Server that is running XP Pro 32bit, & has a HP Laserjet 1220 printer shared across the network on a parallel port, all machines running XP (32bit & 64bit) connect with no problems, no drivers needed.

I then installed Windows 7 32bit on a old laptop of mine, this also connects to printer over network, no drivers needed. I then installed 64bit 7 on my PC & another laptop, both of these machine could not connect to the printer, they can see the printer with no problems, but when I go connect, it says something like loading driver, then connecting to windows update, then comes up with an error & says driver not found.

It gives me an option to load the correct drivers myself, which I have been unable to do, the drivers for the printer are part of the XP & Vista & Windows 7 CDDVD, HP says the printer will work with 32 & 64bit, no Windows 7 drivers (32 or 64bit) or Vista(32 or 64bit) are on the HP site for this printer.

64bit Windows 7 Sharing Printer With 32bit Windows XP

Oct 25, 2009

My printer is a HP Officejet Pro L7590, the driver for this is supplied by Microsoft when installing Windows 7 64bit. HP does not have drivers to install on their website for this printer. When going through the options to share a printer on Windows 7 64bit, it has a check mark for x86 sharing but you need to install a .inf x86 for your specific printer. How can I accomplish this? Where are Microsoft's drivers located on Windows 7? Does windows 7 64bit store x86 inf files?

I really need to get this network printer up and running.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit And XP SP3 File Sharing

Mar 13, 2011

I have two laptops, that are at the same DOMAIN (not workgroup) at work. One runs Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and the other Windows XP professional 32 bit (with SP3). There, a domain controller takes care of all authentication issues and I have no problems sharing files from the one to the other and vice-versa. Question is, what happens at home/other place where there is no domain controller available? I have a wireless modem/router and I can, indeed, "see" one computer from the other (in the network folder of course).

But I cannot access the one from the other and I get an error message when I try to, with the usual "so-and-so is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command." (when trying to access the XP PC from the Windows 7 one). I take the last line to mean that there is no domain controller (which is correct).

Windows Ultimate 7 SP1 Breaks Printer Sharing With Vista?

Jun 12, 2011

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and sharing a printer to other laptops running in the household using Vista and XP. I installed sp1 last weekend and then laptops stopped being able to print. Spent 3 hours on it yesterday and finally rolled back and things are now working again.I did notice that after sp1 my home group had been changed back to the "MSHOME" default. After changing it back to the exiting name, I could see the network printer and also edit files on any of the machines I had set access for. I also could set the print on the Vista release and my desktop with 7 would work just fine so no network issues. When I moved the printer back to 7, the Vista laptop would get an error while trying to load the drivers.

Migrating From Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit To 64bit?

Jul 20, 2012

I've been a 32bit windows 7 user for quite long time and have a lot of softwares installed on my Lenovo g460 laptop. I'm planning to migrate to 64bit windows 7 ultimate OS.can i copy/clone my Drive C (where my OS is installed) to my Samsung S2 Portable External Hard Drive to still use my laptop while wiping out my Internal Drive C for a clean install of the 64bit OS? Will there be a conflict on changing Device Drivers to 64bit if booting up using my external drive? is it really possible to still use my laptop while doing a lot of software re-installations.

Installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (From 32bit)?

Nov 30, 2011

I am using Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I am planning on installing the 64 bit version soon. Before I do I wanted to know if it could be installed on just one partition. My 500 GB hard disk has about 7 partitions ( C : , D: , E : etc). If I want to install windows 7 64 bit on the primary C: Drive (Clean install) would it affect the other partitions, which has data on them? (D: , E: etc?) like erase or not make them function. Also will my external hard disks which worked on 32 bit system (seagate goFlex Desk) work on the 64 bit after i plug it in after the install? All of my externals have my backups and I wouldn't want them erased.

Clean Installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit From Vista Home Premium 64bit?

Feb 28, 2010

I got windows 7 ultimate 32bit free from my school, and decided that I wanted to clean install, and not upgrade it. I transferred all my files off, booted the laptop up with the windows 7 disk, and proceeded to clean install. I didn't have the drivers cd for my laptop, but I just wiped my drive and installed 7 anyway. Now I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit, and can only use 3 of my 4 gigabytes of memory.. The thing I don't really understand is the whole upgrading option, and like, I know that it's a windows 7 32bit dvd, but it doesn't seem right to go from 64bit to 32bit. So is there anyway I can make it 64bit without having to buy a new dvd? And if not, how much am I missing out on, with not having 64bit, especially with having 4 gigabytes of ram?

Sharing Printer On XP From Windows 7?

May 10, 2012

ISSUE: Trying to print to a printer with it's drivers installed on an XP computer.I have 6 computers running (not all the time), 3 laptops and 3 desktops. I'll number them for ease of ID.1. Dell Laptop running W2K. Hardwired.2. Gateway Laptop running XP. Wireless.3. HP Laptop running W7 Ultimate. Wireless.4. Desktop ATX running XP similar to a server where I keep the big apps, printer drivers and backups, not used for web surfing. Hardwired.5. Dell 1100 desktop running XP used mostly for surfing and downloads. If I get a virus I just reformat and reload XP. Hardwired.6. Compaq desktop running XP. Hardwired. When I use Window Explorer to look at all the computers on my home LAN, I get the following.Systems: 1, 2, 5 and 6, see all 6 systems, one being itself.System: 4 with the printer drivers sees the other five, but not itself.System: 3 sees 1, 2, 3 (itself), 5 and 6. Does not see #4. On this #4 I have three printers' drivers installed.I can print from 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 to any of the three printers. But not from #3 which is running W7. I tried adding printer and driver as per plethora of instructions on the web without success. But since it does not see system #4, the printers are not available to choose.

Windows 7 File And Printer Sharing?

Jul 21, 2011

Okay I have two computers. They're both running win7 64bit home premium. The laptop seems fine and can file and printer share. So basically I'm trying to share my printer on my desktop pc connected through the usb as so I can print from my laptop. They seem to connect to each other and both are in the same homegroup. But I keep getting the can't connect to printer error. But it works if I do it the opposite way which is connect printer to laptop and network the printer through desktop. So it seems to be the settings or something on my desktop PC.The only folder I can access over the network on my desktop PC is the public folder. All the other folders say "access is denied". So there seems to be going on with my permissions, access, etc from my desktop PC. I already selected the folders I want to share and selected share with homegroup(read/write).

Printer Sharing Windows 7 RC 64 To Vista 32

May 11, 2009

I downloaded Windows 7 RC 64 Bit Build:7100.0.090421-1700 x64.

After I installed it, I only had to install my wireless network drivers and Windows 7 downloaded the rest of all of my system. I did not have to install any driver at all.

My problem is when I try to print from my Vista 32 laptop nothing prints to my printer. Under active documents listed for my printer it just says under status | Error - Printing.

Under the ports tab on my Vista 32 laptop, the check is in the box [Windows 7 64][printer] | Local Port

Under the ports tab on my Window 7 64 Desktop, the check is in the box USB001 | Virtual printer port for USB

The 64 bit drivers for my printer are on the Windows 7 64 Desktop and the 32 bit drivers are on the Vista 32 laptop.

I do not know why I cannot share printing.

On Windows 7 64, share this printer is checked and Render print jobs on client computers is checked.

I know this seems to be a much talked about problem but I tried the best I could to follow the posted suggestions.

My Desktop has a Canon iP4600 printer.

My desktop's computer name is AGP-001 and the printer share name is CanoniP4.
