View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 systems each running Windows 7 Ultimate on a home network (not a home group). I have an HP Laserjet 1022 attached via USB to system #3 (32 bit). System #1 is 64 bit and #2 is 32 bit. System #2 prints fine on system #3. When system #1 (64 bit) prints, the entry is made into the print queue of #3, but never prints. I've tried restarting the print spooler to no avail. Print entry from #1 cannot be cancelled. I have to manually delete the spooler entry for the print job from C:/Windows/system32/spool/PRINTERS.Without getting into finger pointing at HP, is there a problem with the printing software in Windows 7 when OS word sizes are mixed ? Is the HP Laserjet 1022 driver too old to be used (the driver states it was modified this current year)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI built it mainly for my 14yo to do school work and video games on rather to replace our aging desktop which is still used also. The old machine runs 32-bit Vista while the new one is 64-bit Win7, of course. In our reorganization we moved our Canon MP610 printer to be hooked up to the new machine, but it'd be great if we could share it amongst both pc's and my older son's new laptop. I've search and read lots of sites online, but can't really find a solution to get the old pc to be able to "see" the printer to share.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave a Canon ip6000d printer hooked up to a Win7 32bit machine. I installed the "printer add-on module" for Win7 on this machine and it prints fine. I share it across the network so that I can print from my Win7 64bit laptop but I can not install the driver for it. The laptop sees the printer when I try to "add a printer" but it looks for a 64bit driver. So I installed the "printer add-on module" onto the laptop, and still nothing, it continues to look for a driver. So I then directly connected the printer (usb) to the laptop, it installed itself and works perfectly fine. So I reconnected it back to the 32bit machine and tried to "add a printer" again over the network and it still asks for the 64driver. I can't find a regular .inf driver file anywhere for this printer, just the damn "printer add-on module".

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy printer is a HP Officejet Pro L7590, the driver for this is supplied by Microsoft when installing Windows 7 64bit. HP does not have drivers to install on their website for this printer. When going through the options to share a printer on Windows 7 64bit, it has a check mark for x86 sharing but you need to install a .inf x86 for your specific printer. How can I accomplish this? Where are Microsoft's drivers located on Windows 7? Does windows 7 64bit store x86 inf files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read on this forum a few people with printer sharing issues, but my problem seems to be a bit different, heres my problem:
I have a HP Server that is running XP Pro 32bit, & has a HP Laserjet 1220 printer shared across the network on a parallel port, all machines running XP (32bit & 64bit) connect with no problems, no drivers needed.
I then installed Windows 7 32bit on a old laptop of mine, this also connects to printer over network, no drivers needed. I then installed 64bit 7 on my PC & another laptop, both of these machine could not connect to the printer, they can see the printer with no problems, but when I go connect, it says something like loading driver, then connecting to windows update, then comes up with an error & says driver not found.
It gives me an option to load the correct drivers myself, which I have been unable to do, the drivers for the printer are part of the XP & Vista & Windows 7 CDDVD, HP says the printer will work with 32 & 64bit, no Windows 7 drivers (32 or 64bit) or Vista(32 or 64bit) are on the HP site for this printer.
Can I boot Windows 7 64bit on a 32bit processor if the Windows installation took place on a 64bit processor?

Then I tried to add the printer in control panel on computer-B, it sees the epson printer but when I try to install the driver (download from computer-A) then it say unable to connect. I have try it on different computer-C it is saying the same thing. What should I do?
I have installed the EPSON driver in computer-B (hoping it would work)but still after the install the driver (download from computer-A) by itself then it says unable to connect the printer.
I have setup all the computers with the group name of WORKFROUP. You may wonder why I don't use the Windows 7 Homegroup, it is because I have some XP computers need to use that computer-A's printer. how to make the printer sharing works. [URL]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a printer connected by USB to a desktop running Vista and hardwired to a WiFi router and I've got a Nokia booklet running Windows 7 Starter and using the WiFi. I have tried to get the two computers to connect with each other, but only the desktop can get into the booklet. I cannot get the booklet to get into the desktop. It seems that because I only have Win Starter 7, I cannot form a home group. I need the full featured Win 7 to do that. Is that correct? I really would like to use the printer on the booklet, but even though it seems to send the document to the printer queue on the desktop, nothing prints. I suspect it's the same issue as I mentioned, but at least it's getting something into the desktop. When I try to print and then look at the document's properties, it says the size of the document but always says pages to print.

I will be getting windows 7, and MS office for both computers. Mom will get basic office, I will one more advanced, the one with MS publisher. I was reading MS office site, that said get MS office 32 bit, because a lot of the extras do not work in 64 bit version.
can I run Windows 7 64bit on my computer, then add MS office 32 bit and run the 32 bit software from Windows 7 64? Or does both Windows 7 ( the OS) and MS office (the program) both need to be the same bit version?

Currently, I have Windows 7 32 bit installed on my Dell Studio 15 laptop. I originally had Windows Vista, but upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit for free during an event on my college campus. My laptop is however, 64 bit capable, so I'd like to upgrade to 64 bit. I realize this entails a clean install and I'm ok with that, however I have no idea of how to do that! I don't have any upgrade discs because the upgrade was done for me at the event. I have located my product key by downloading an application online that found it for me. Now, is there a (relatively) pain-free way for me to install Windows 7 64 bit on my capable computer, even though its 32 bit right now and I lack installation discs?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is just a personal opinion and others may very well disagree. But I think Windows 7 64-bit is better than 32-bit simply because of the ability to make better use of installed memory. A 32-bit machine is limited to 4GB minus whatever memory might be set aside for graphics, etc. Most folks see about 3-3.5GB of usable RAM on a 32-bit machine. If your machine is upgradeable (or came with) more than 4GB RAM then 64-bit is the way to go.Memory - Set Maximum Amount Used by Windows 7..As far as using older legacy XP programs you could try running them in compatibility mode. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to this forum and looking for some opinions. I recently built a new desktop and installed Win 7 64bit and it was a walk in the park. So now I am going to upgrade the wife's laptop. It is a HP Pavilion zv6270us. It has a Athlon 64 3500+ at 2.0GHz with 2GB DDR PC2700 Cl 2.5 333mhz memory. I dual booted Win 7 RC 64bit to test and had a few driver problems since HP won't support this unit for Win 7.
I was able to use some Vista drivers with a hack to get the sound working. Only thing not working is the Fax Modem which I never use. We use the laptop for E-Mail, Web browsing and wife is addicted to "Bejeweled 2" which runs fine under Win 7 64.
I was thinking of installing Win 7 32bit and wondering if 64bit was worth the effort as far as bootup time and performance. I was thinking 32bit might have better drivers and might even perform better.
