I can't seem to get this to go.The disk has a few minor scratches. I bought it used, so that's to be expected. As far as I can tell it's nothing major.I don't believe it's my drive either. I just installed Escape From Butcher Bay a couple days ago and it went fine.Autorun pops up, however it takes a bit longer than usual and the icon for the disk is slow to load, and going through and manually executing the setup doesn't work. Nothing happens.I can't help but think this is a steam issue, but the fact that autorun is slow, doesn't really ring right either.

[CODE]A friend spent an afternoon troubleshooting and established that it was indeed installed on the system, but was not launching. Her assessment was that it seems to "be pointing at the Installation exe".All attempts to remove and reinstall have failed. I am the administrator, as required.
every now and then my work PC restarts itself over night and when I come into work in the morning and find this. Every time this happens, the bulk of my programs won't launch - apart from IE, file explorer and native applications like the Task Manager. It's very strange - I try to launch an application, it attempts to load then seems to die, although in the task manager I can always see each instance of the program I've tried to start, with very low memory footprint.his has just happened to me again this morning, and after an hour or so of rebooting, eventually the applications have started working again, without any change having been made by me. I have run a defrag and disk check and also updated Windows 7 with all available updates, but the issue remains. I also switched the firewall off and still had the same problem.
I recently tried to open a single file with java, and now ALL my files open with it. They also have a java icon on them and a extension that my kindle spell check refuses to let me type an is like "link".
I am having a big issue with my new computer here, it started when I installed Grand Theft Auto 4, everytime I tried launching the game on Steam/in folder. My computer restarts itself straight away each time! Later on I noticed when I left the computer on while I'm sleeping the computer restarts itself sometimes too. Once a BSOD appeared. I had no other issues with all the other games, til I bought and installed Dead Space today, again the same problem! Restarts when I click Play again!
When launching XP Mode, it takes forever then finally gives me "Could Not Enable Integration Features". If I continue the XP mode window pops up, but none fo my previous drives are there. Worked fine until last week.
Is there a way to lock outlook from even launching without a password? A person can launch outlook and see all old emails but just cant see the new ones because they dont have the server password
happens when I launch some graphic games from STEAM. Games like Saints Row the third, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I can launch and successfully play Skyrim, and Tera.
i have installed new geniune WINDOWS 7 32bit SP1 , downloaded from MSDN. it is activated

Basically whenever I try to launch a specific program (Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 64-bit to be precise), I receive the following error message:
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive DeviceHarddisk1DR1" [ Cancel | Try Again | Continue ]
This error has only occurred recently, I have had the software installed for about six months with frequent use with absolutely no trouble. I have made no significant changes to my computer in the last couple of weeks (the last time I used the program) to the best of my knowledge. The software is a legit copy from Autodesk installed from a CD/DVD. I have ran a virus check with no results. I completely uninstalled and did a fresh re-install of the software and the problem still persists.

Suddenly opening programs took much longer than usual to load, I have a SSD and everything had been fast before. So today I just went ahead and reinstalled Windows and the speed returned for the most part. The problem I am having now is that if I launch an install program it takes 15-30 seconds to load, but if I right click and "run as admin" it launches instantaneously. I turned UAC off and I'm on an admin account.
Whenever I try to launch the hp system recovery tool I try pressing the f11 key but it just takes me to my os instead of its splash screen, any work around for this?
I just discovered the task scheduler and I am using it to start programs at logon, like eraser. The only problem is I would like to start them minimized and I can't quite figure out how to do that. I have set the program properties to run minimized but it doesn't want to play nice. Is there anyway I can get the program to launch from task scheduler without using a bat file?
I was importing 2 virtual machines from VirtualBox to Virtual PC, uninstalling the drivers on Windows 2000 provided by VirtualBox, importing that virtual machine to Virtual PC, installing the drivers provided by Virtual PC, but suddenly i got the following error: D:setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
Shortly after installing a theme (I can not remember as I can't get into the file system) which is as far as I can see a perfectly legitimate theme (recommended by a user from overclock.net) explorer.exe hasn't worked. I installed it, it asked me to restart explorer.exe by pressing the button. I got the error that it could not start. Itrecommended that I restart the computer before all changes take place. I assumed that I had to restart the computer for Explorer.EXE to work. It did not. At startup, the following happened and now does every time I start it up: (A note, sorry for the low quality photo's, I'm letting someone using my DSLR as they're on holidays.)Everything goes seemingly normal in the BIOS.FYI, the debug code on the motherboard is AA so all is fine according to the debug code.Just before Windows logs me in (just after the Windows logo at boot) there is a blacks screen displayed for a significant amount of time. As I have an SSD, it shouldn't be there and it shouldn't take that long.
Before I get to the desktop, the following errors come up:his is what the desktop looks at login. Firstly, there is not start menu - which means no explorer.exe. Secondly, why has this application started up? Nothing else seems to be able to but this application however manages to. Is it because it uses it's own UI? Nothing else seems to startup. Hmm.I press ctrl+alt+delete and the following comes up as usual: I click "start task manager" and the following error comes up then decided to start the computer up in safe mode.Same errors as before: This is what the desktop looks like, no start menu there:I press ctrl+alt+delete and the normal ctrl+alt+delete screen comes up. Same taskmanager error as earlier.I next boot into safe mode with command prompt. This time only this error comes up: (that is, unless I missed the explorer.exe error or I subconsciously clicked the ok button which is a possibility)
Memory Diagnostic Tool keeps launching on boot up windows 7. How to stop it. I daily kill the process from task manager. I try to search in internet but no result. Is it a bug?
A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched.
one of the netbooks was plugged in to initially power it up, but then hard-shut-down before Windows could run through its initial setup. Now when I boot up the netbook, and it attempts to go through the initial windows setup "Setup is starting services", and then throws an error message: The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.I restart, and the cycle continues. This happens whether I try to boot normally or in safe modeI've got no CD-drive attached to it, so I'm not sure what I can do to break this error cycle.
When I try to install some programs and drivers i get error: 'Setup will only run in administrator mode. setup is aborting.'. I only have one account which has administrator rights. I have already tried to enable and disable UAC, booting in safe mode, run as administrator, enabling original administrator account, adding permissions, taking ownership, changing compability mode and other but nothig is solving my problem. I'm running windows 7 x64 build 7000.
I am trying to upgrade Vista to Windows7 Home Premium and I got this message after the installer copied ~2GB of files on my PC:
"setup can't continue. restart the computer and restart setup. when prompted try getting the latest updates."
I restarted the PC and restarted the setup and I got the same message. I updated the Mother Board Bios and restarted the setup I got the same message. I have tried both options (get update and no update during the setup). And it didn't work.
I do not want to do custom install (fresh install) on my computer.
I downloaded the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One Printer - C309a software package. Once it extracts it stops running. When I go to the folder and run the Setup.exe file I get the circle on the pointer which makes me believe it is trying to run but then nothing happens. There seem to be sevelar threads about this being a problem with Windows 7 / IE8 but none that I have found have a solution. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64.
I'm starting to upgrade my PC piece by piece. I just upgraded my video card, and I'm getting an SSD to load my OS on. I'm going to upgrade from Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7, but I'm unsure if my current system will support 64 bit or not.
