I just downloaded the newest version of Internet Explorer 9 Beta 64-bit. However, I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't find a spellchecker embedded into their new browser. I'm used to iespell in the 32-bit browser, but it does not load in the 64-bit browser. I like to use the spell checker at various times as I post on forums and other places and would like to have something "watching my back" as I type.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFolderico lets you change folder icons to whatever you want, which is great, but I haven't been able to find a similar software for file types. I'm not looking to change the icon to every file, only certain ones that have blank thumbnails (think .bin or .gba files for example; I want to give each .gba file a custom icon, like a game cover or something, but I don't want all the .gba files I have to have the same thumbnail).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need a little help figuring this out. I made a backup image a while back on my network. Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to restore my Dell E6510 Windows 7 64-bit Pro. laptop from a image created by Windows backup that is located on a share on a network drive. Using windows explorer, I can view the image folder. I have not renamed or moved the folder. When I run the Windows restore process, restore does not automaticly find the image so I click on the network button, type in the network share and type in the correct user and password. I receive the message "network share cannot be found. code 0x800704cf"
how to connect to the network image.
I created an image backup with Windows 7. It created a large VHD file and appeared tocomplete correctly. I copied the image to my thumb drive and tried to do a restore. I can find the thumb drive and browse it and all the files are there but if I try to do a restore it doesn't find the restore image. I also tried putting it on a network drive - it can'tfind it there even though I point it to the share it is in.I've tried using a restore CD, as well as installing Windows and using the recovery in control panel. The folder structure is asfollowsWindowsImageBackupcomputernameunder that folder are three foldersbackup 2012-07-15 232717CatalogSPPMetadataCachemetadataidIt seems odd there is no obvious way to just say this is the VHD - right here in this folder - use it and restore.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Win 7 64 bit installed on my laptop as well as my desktop. System images for both are on external HD's.
On the laptop, I have created a system image on blank DVD's using DVD-R's. No problems -- I can restore from the DVD's.
However, when I try to create a system image on blank DVD-R's on my desktop, I get a message saying something like, "format was unsuccessful." If I use a DVD+RW the process runs to completion and I can restore from it. I had to use RW's because I don't have and +R's.
I get the same unsuccessful message if I try to format a blank DVD-R with Win 7.
My DVD burner on the desktop says it is a +R. Does that mean I can't use -R's.
I've no idea whether this is a Win 7 problem, burner problem or a problem on my part.
Would someone please try to straighten out the dense old mind?

Windows 7 Home and Business 32bit
My ST3500418AS 500GB died and took my Windows 7 with it, so I had to do a fresh install to another hard disk.
Unfortunately, Backup and Restore cannot see the backup location from my previous install, so I can't get my files back that way.
I presume that the VHD file I see in the backup folder is the system image of the previous install.
Is there any way I can extract my files from this VHD using some software package, or even convert it to another format such as ISO and extract my files that way?
There's a lot of great pics and stuff there that I don't even remember where I got it from, so I'm pretty desperate to get it all back.
I am wondering how to break down a .gif image file into several different images. Also, anyone know of any programs that can edit them. Mostly just the size, for now atleast. I have Photoshop CS3 and am very inexperienced with it. (If you really wanna know the background, I did a semester of junior college for computer graphics but then some stuff happened and I had to drop out.) And anyone know of any programs to create a .gif image file. I think that Photoshop is capable but I don't know how,
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some pictures in my computer that I had too in my external hd as a backup. Last time I just formatted my PC and restored the backup from the external HD. I had a batch file script that automated both backup and restore process, so I could just let it working overnight. The big problem is that I needed to format the external, but after doing this, I realized that some installers that I had restored was corrupted, like some videos and other files. Then I checked the pictures, and lots of them are damaged. I can open the files, but some have distortions, or colors are messed up. I tried to defrag the drive, tried pixrecovery to restore the picture, but no way, they're still damaged. I want to know if anyone have any idea for me. Really important pictures to me are damaged now..
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking to integrate IE9 into a retail image of Windows 7. I've already done this once successfully, however the version of IE9 that I have is outdated. If you peruse the internet, you'll quickly see several direct links to IE 9's msu version directly from Microsoft, but these are all release candidate when installed. I'm looking for the latest RTM, since it won't have to be immediately upgraded after re-imaging, which completely defeats the purpose. While it isn't 100% supported by Microsoft, it isn't illegal to my knowledge. I still must have a valid license key to use any of it. If for some reason it goes against the TOS, please delete this post, but alert me as to why, precisely it had to be done so that I can avoid it later.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Windows 7 Pro 64, and Windows detects a Samsung 4828FN 3in1 printer and a Canon LIDE 80 scanner in "Devices & Printers" but appears to be unable to find drivers. I downloaded & installed Win 7 drivers from both mfg sites, but neither appears in their appropriate windows when called up. The scanner on the printer works and saves to files, so I know the USB connections are working. Canon Toolbox Settings cannot detect.
Of course the HP 1000 printer has no Win 7 drivers to download, so that one does not work either,
Also, when I try and select new printers from a "Print" drop-down menu, I get a message "The Active Directory Domain Sevices is Currently Unavailable"
Anyone have suggestions?
I am making regular backups - both the image backup and the file sets using Windows 7 Backup program. No problems with that.
But, I periodically would like to copy the image backup to a portable drive. I plan to take this portable drive offsite to a secure location - I call it my archive.
Is this possible? What files must I copy? Do I have to maintain a certain directory structure or naming convention in case I have to use the archived copy to restore (assume a bare metal restoration)?
I thought I could just copy the VHD files (boot and system) but the image backup has other directories and files and I just don't understand their purpose.
I need to copy these files rather than running the backup over again to this portable archive device. I have multiple computers and it is impractical for me to physically access each computer to re-run an image backup to the same archive device.
My archive device is a regular USB/eSata HDD and I don't plan to put VSS on it.
I can't seem to edit the time but I can change the date on images, is there a work around for image files?
