Break Down And Recreate .gif Image Files?
May 4, 2011
I am wondering how to break down a .gif image file into several different images. Also, anyone know of any programs that can edit them. Mostly just the size, for now atleast. I have Photoshop CS3 and am very inexperienced with it. (If you really wanna know the background, I did a semester of junior college for computer graphics but then some stuff happened and I had to drop out.) And anyone know of any programs to create a .gif image file. I think that Photoshop is capable but I don't know how,

I've already stumbled onto an issue with a users's profile and am trying to apply what I would typically do in XP to Windows 7 but it's stuck on wanting to load the Temporary profile for this user. So as a novice of this sort, how can I recreate a users profile?

I tried installing Ubuntu with Windows 7 and crashed my boot process.I think I may have over written on the 200 MB boot partition.Whichever recovery method I try, it does not show me any partitions of the disk. How do I recreate that 200MB partition on to my HD? I need to replace what I deleted in order to boot into Windows 7.

I haven't run into before which is confusing, 3 weeks ago I installed a new graphics card, and clean installed the drivers, last night I was playing Grand theft auto 4 and my computer froze, after I reset the computer it froze again instantly when I loaded it. so I gave up for the night, the next day I tried again and it ran for 5 mins and started freezing, so I reset when I came back to windows the mouse wasn't moving around the screen properly so I guided with the keyboard, after which the display adapter stopped responding twice and eventually froze. so I reset went to safe mode, checked for viruses, malware, all the programs turned up nothing I cleaned my registry had like 3 or for errors, and reinstalled my nvidia drivers and reset, now it works again. I mean I know how to fix crap when it screws up but how did the driver break in the first place, I didn't install any software, or updates or anything since I installed the new graphics card, I've been playing starcraft 2 and GTA4 on and off but that's it so I don't get how a driver can just decide to kill itself, anyone know? I checked the temperature and it was at 25 while Idle which I assume is good for a graphics card from what I've seen. I've run memory diagnostics and nothing either, so I don't get it

My brother-in-law's computer is running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. When the computer is power on it goes pass POST then does not find a bootable device, so these are the steps I've done so far.Booted to Windows 7 CD and tried the following:1. startup repair2. bootrec /fixmbr, /fixboot and /rebuildbcd - when rebuildbcd I get "Total identified Windows installations: 0"3. bootsect /nt60 c:4. command prompt and using DISKPART found that the only disk in the system was not active, so I made it active and now when I boot the system I get NTLDR missing5. bcdedit - I get access denied when accessing C:now I'm stuck ... i've read several forums, including this one, but I can't find a solution to this problemmaybe because c: is not accessible, windows repair does not see the installation of windows?

I am really frustrated at the moment, I can't seem to get away from this problem I keep having.Last august I build my super computer. It worked fine, for the most part until this summer when I decided to take it apart and figure out some problems I was having, I ended up reloaded windows on it and starting fresh.I currently use the Logitech bluetooth keyboard as my main keyboard. The keyboard worked fine with the supplied bluetooth dongle, however a few months ago I noticed it was slugglish and eventually it stopped working so I then used a cheap bluetooth dongle I got for like a dollar. This worked fine with my keyboard until about a month or two ago when the keyboard stopped working. At first I thought it was the keyboard but after a restart it would work fine. Eventually, I decided to remove the device and re add it. When I did this, my computer went to the BSOD with the error message IRQ Driver something, I am sorry i didn't write it down but I can get it if necessary.I rebooted my computer but it would not come out of this and would immediately go to the BSOD right after the windows flag appeared. So then in safe mood I tried to restore the system to what it was before I installed the bluetooth, and this eventually worked. So then I went back and tried to add a device again and again BSOD but only this time system restore did not work and after many frustrating hours I decided to just reload windows again. I also purchased a ASUS USB bluetooth dongle from amazon. When I installed this and tried it, it worked fine with my system. However this too only last about a month and then it stopped working. When I went back to add a device I again was taken to the BSOD but only this time when I tried to do a system restore I got this message, " System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer software files and settings were not changed... The file directory is corrputed and unreadable (0x80070570)." This happened with all my different restore points. Again, I thought maybe my C drive is corrupt and since I hadn't even installed all my programs from the last time around I figured I might as well reload windows once again! That brings me to this evening. I formatted my C hard drive and reloaded windows, I thin updated my bios, and everything I could possibly thing of inside my computer. I think went to the ASUS site and downloaded the latest (only) driver for the USB dongle and thinking I had beat the problem and I tried to add a device and bam, BSOD. That is when I turned off my computer and decided it was time to seek some advice. I really want to use this keyboard, everything else works just fine. I do notice that once in awhile when windows loads, even after most recent reload the sound of windows freezing for just a second on the opening sound so it is dragged out and I haven't noticed that before. I am not entirely sure whats going on with my computer but I can't seem to find a fix for this bluetooth problem. I can't imagine its both bluetooth dongles failing on me.

I have an new Asus K52F notebook that's pre installed with Windows 7 x64 HP. I have no dvd as such and will have to rely on the recovery partition to solve any problems that may OK, will occur. Is it possible to break into the protected recovery partition , remove all the bloat that comes with a new notebook and add my own applications to it ? So if and when i recover , all my stuff is good to go.If i trim down my current install to under 30 gig , would adding an image to a 32 gig flash drive be a suitable way of recovering my drive image for later use. (I used to mess about with themes and .dlls a fair bit and will most likely start my shenanigans again once I'm bored ) Seems a very tight fit on a flash drive to me , are you meant to have a certain amount of free space on a recovery flash drive , or can i fill it to the brim ?
Sure i can buy a 64 gig flash , but it seems like over kill to me not to mention added expense. I do have an old external drive and will be buying a shiny new one next week , but id prefer to have an image on a flash that i can keep handy and use when needed, if that makes any sense at all ?

A friend of mine has a problem with his Windows Live Mail client. He's running Win 7 HP 64 bit with the Windows Live Mail client and a Hotmail ID. His problem is that he sometimes sees emails mysteriously multiplying emails in his folders - this includes his deleted mail folder!
We have tried asking questions in the official Microsoft Mail forums but have received no response. What I would like to do is to delete his Mail.MSMessageStore database in both the Windows Live Mail folder and the Backup folder. I believe doing this will cause Windows Live Mail to recreate the Mail.MSMessageStore database. However I would like to be sure, before I do this, that he will continue to have access to all his (offline) Storage Folders, as well as his normal mail folders, after doing this. Does anyone know whether deleting the MSMessageStore database will cause any data loss or is it a totally harmless step?

My ST3500418AS 500GB died and took my Windows 7 with it, so I had to do a fresh install to another hard disk.
Unfortunately, Backup and Restore cannot see the backup location from my previous install, so I can't get my files back that way.
I presume that the VHD file I see in the backup folder is the system image of the previous install.
Is there any way I can extract my files from this VHD using some software package, or even convert it to another format such as ISO and extract my files that way?
There's a lot of great pics and stuff there that I don't even remember where I got it from, so I'm pretty desperate to get it all back.

I have some pictures in my computer that I had too in my external hd as a backup. Last time I just formatted my PC and restored the backup from the external HD. I had a batch file script that automated both backup and restore process, so I could just let it working overnight. The big problem is that I needed to format the external, but after doing this, I realized that some installers that I had restored was corrupted, like some videos and other files. Then I checked the pictures, and lots of them are damaged. I can open the files, but some have distortions, or colors are messed up. I tried to defrag the drive, tried pixrecovery to restore the picture, but no way, they're still damaged. I want to know if anyone have any idea for me. Really important pictures to me are damaged now..

I am making regular backups - both the image backup and the file sets using Windows 7 Backup program. No problems with that.
But, I periodically would like to copy the image backup to a portable drive. I plan to take this portable drive offsite to a secure location - I call it my archive.
Is this possible? What files must I copy? Do I have to maintain a certain directory structure or naming convention in case I have to use the archived copy to restore (assume a bare metal restoration)?
I thought I could just copy the VHD files (boot and system) but the image backup has other directories and files and I just don't understand their purpose.
I need to copy these files rather than running the backup over again to this portable archive device. I have multiple computers and it is impractical for me to physically access each computer to re-run an image backup to the same archive device.
My archive device is a regular USB/eSata HDD and I don't plan to put VSS on it.

Computer management -> Disk management -> attach VHD The VHD attaches fine, and it is the correct file. But when it attaches I get the message: "you need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?" I clicked cancel, and then tried to right click -> explore. I then got the message: "F: is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."Out of all the tutorials I have read, the file should open just fine and let me explore it. Why is it asking me to format the disk? And is it safe to do so?The file system is listed as "RAW" and the status is "Healthy(primary partition)"I don't want to lose everything on the system image! Can I/should I format the disk?

We are a small office, 5 or 6 computers. Only 3 are every day computers, other 3 are "server", admin and extra computer. The three in use every day are new win7pro x64 machines. Our server is xp pro (32bit) with a shared drive as our "server" drive. We access this for all our job related materials, etc. There is no network setup, just shared folders among our workgroup. we just got the new win7pro machines setup and are using Windows Backup function to create system images to the "server" computer in a shared folder. We've got the images created on 2 computers, and can see the .vhd files and associated folder structure. When testing to see if we could restore from these images, we got the error "Cannot locate backup sets on machine, etc."I moved the backup folder to the root of the drive, and made sure it was WindowsImageBackup or whatever the default is, but still could not find it.

I need a little help figuring this out. I made a backup image a while back on my network. Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.
