Nov 23, 2009This isn't really a driver issue but more of a some help with local policy / permissions (I think).
I have just put a new Windows 7 PC on our domain and I am having a few troubles getting the Gemalto Smart card to work as a user. This card has the Gemplus esigner which lets us authenticate to connect back to our bank for secure banking.
Basically this PC is in a domain which locks the desktop and programs down so a user cannot access Programs etc. We then place an RDP icon in the start menu and they access their programs via RDP into a terminal server. Only a few programs are run locally on the PC.
When we install the Gemalto software on an XP machine we set permissions on the installation folder for everyone to have read / write access along with the registry key and this works fine an allows users to be able to use this on the local PC.
With Windows 7 I have tried this but I keep getting "Cannot fine the certificate store" error – however this works as administrator (local PC) which leads me to a permissions thing or a domain setting.
I can insert the smart card and manually import the certificate which reports successful yet the same error occurs.
Has anyone else has this issue or can anyone point me in the right direction?

Jun 27, 2012I have a 3.5" slot reader setup that after 2 years still wont load drivers. Supposedly this is a windows 7 PnP item but its never worked. EVERY tech I've ever talked to says its PnP so I replaced it with a new item thinking that'd fix it. Same thing. No update from the MOBO driver site either.

Smart Card Reader Issues

Both work fine in Vista 64 on the same box in dual boot.
In Vista the driver used is the generic MS usbccid.sys driver version 6.0.6001.18000 dated 6/1/2006
In Seven there are 4 MS drivers all version 6.1.7000.0 dated 6/21/2006:
- scfilter.sys
- WUDFUsbccidDriver.dll
- winusb.sys
- WUDFRd.sys
In Device Manager status I get the "This device Cannot Start. (code 10)" message.
If I uninstall the device and plug it back in I can see that Windows sees an ActivCard USB reader V2 (shows up in "Other Devices" while drivers are trying to install) but the install fails for the Microsoft Usbccid smartcard Reader (WUDF). I have tried the latest drivers to no avail.

May 27, 2011it took me a while to find the right driver for my ACR38U card reader, but now I've found and downloaded it, it seems none of the sites that work with it (like tax-on-web) will open. Jan 15, 2013I have a Samsung Series 7 Slate with a 64GB micro-SD, and the Windows 7 running WMP12. It wont recognize my SD card for the Music Library because it is a removable device. On my last tablet, a guy helped me build a shortcut from C drive to read the SD card. It worked well. But I don't know how he did it. The following link tries to explain it, but I can not find anything titled "Disk Management" or "Computer Management" in my Control Panel or Computer menus.The way to do this is to go to a known location on your hard drive C: perhapsand create a folder called Camera Card, or whatever. Then start the Computer Management program (Search the start menu for it) and click on "Disk Management" in the left-hand sidebar. Right click your removable drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Click Add and select "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder". Choose the folder you made earlier (e.g.,C:Camera Card). Now if you look in the C:Camera Card folder you'll see the contents of your SD card. Now, if you right click your new Library you made earlier and add..C:Camera Card to it, it'll work!

Nov 8, 2012I have two computers. One a year old and one brand new. Both are running Windows 7 64 bit and both are running the exact same version of Windows Media Center. On my old computer I have my Windows Media Center TV configured for channel 3 and the cable attached to my internal TV Tuner card. Then, to access different channels I simply use the remote controller that came with my cable company set top box. Never any problems. Now, I am trying for three days to have Windows Media Center set up the TV stations on my new computer.
The device manager is finding the TV Tuner Card that I installed. All the drivers are up to date. I can use WinTV to find and play channels so I know there is signal coming from the cable...the same cable that feeds my old computer...I simply unhooked it and attached it to my new computer. So, it's driving me crazy that each time I try to scan for channels I wait for 10 minutes each time only to get a message at the end saying "no tv stations found" or something like that. What could I possible be doing wrong since everything is the same between the old and the new computer?

Ive looked around the forums and google and found that this can be a usb 2.0 , 3.0 problem with people just switching to the 2.0 slot and it working. However this does not work for her and so I looked around more and found it might be needing the drivers for the USB ports had her insert the disc that came with the motherboard however non of the setups in the usb folder work and im not sure which specific file she needs to choose to get the driver to install or 100 % if that is even the issue. When the phone is connected to the computer, the usb recognition sound is issued, but the "Found New Hardware" message is not displayed nor is the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.
The phone is displayed in Device Manager (LGE CDMA Composite USB Device), and in the Control Panel item Devices and Printers (as LG Mobile Phone, LG Mobile (Modem) and LG Mobile (Serial)). However, it is not displayed in Windows Explorer (trying to transfer photos from phone to computer).
I tried running the Troubleshooter, and a message was displayed that said a problem (not identified) was fixed. Except it wasn't. Restarting the computer did not solve the problem.

Pressing the SATA ST option results in the message "A disc read error occurred press CTRL + ALT + del to restart" on a black screen. I have a Windows 7 repair disc, but how do I get the PC to default to it when the DVD drive is not an option on the "Boot Menu". I have a Windows backup on an external drive.
