View 2 RepliesI have USB 3.0 slots in my Dell Laptop. My desktop has a couple of these, too, but also a number that are USB 2.0. The Hauppauge HD-DVR and Media Center remote which work fine when used with USB 2.0 slots don't work in USB 3.0 slots.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to upgrade my desktop to be usb 3.0 capable. The only option I can see since my motherboard doesn't have any is PCI and PCI-e card adapters. Problem is, I have none available. I expected there to be a version where the usb 3.0 port would connect to a sata port. I don't see any. There are also plenty of USB3.0 etc front bays, but unfortunately these products don't give much info on how these are connected internally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs the title already says, I'm having problems with my usb slots not working sometimes for my mouse and keyboard, they either stop working for a few seconds and I get the windows "connect/disconnect" sound or they just stop working which can be fixed by repositioning the 2 usb's into a different set of slots. This solution however only works for a while until the same problem occurs again and I have to reboot to get them working again, this problem nearly only occurs with the rear usb slots, it does, however, somethimes affect my front 2 slots where I have a headset plugged in, this is noticeable immediately as any sound heard from the headset is wrong (can't really explain how it changes ). I have already tried uninstalling/updating drivers and turning on legacy support in the BIOS but to no avail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have started using the RC after having used the offiial beta for only a week (it kept giving me BSODs and I was too lazy to figure out why).
With this build I have noticed one thing, and as I have looked through this forum for a while to see if anyone else had it, and didn't find anything, I will assume it is not a 'feature'. While playing xvid media (television shows from the US) with windows media player, I notice at random times that the image freezes (the sound continues). After a while (between 10 to 30 seconds) the image unfreezes and starts playing catchup. This can happen while I'm doing something else, but also when I'm not doing a thing, and only WMP is opened. I first thought it might be codec issue, so I installed a Windows 7 codec pack (though I usually hate these things). Unfortunately it hasn't solved my problem.
I've also noticed that it takes explorer about 20 to 50 seconds to start up. I don't know if that's strange, but it seems like a long time to me. Even if it's already open on a different folder, and I open another instance, it takes this long. Only if I browse within the already opened window does it not seem to lag.
The only thing I can think of is that it might have something to do with my virus scanner? I have ACG installed. I also have daemon tools running, even though it says that there might be compatibility issues.
I an unable to open windows media player or internet explorer, when I open internet explorer it looks like its about to load up my homepage but I get nothing but a blank page. Also when I tried to open skydrive that wouldn't work either. I tried to open windows media player today and that wouldn't open either. I can use firefox that works ok and vlc player but anything to do with windows will not work. The only thing new i put on my laptop was zune for my new Samsung Omina 7 phone. However internet explorer was not working prior to this.

I'm looking for some advice for a TV Tuner Card/Non Media Center.

Windows 7 Not Detecting PCI Slots after Format - Previous thread about this problem, Bare Foot Kid suggested I made a new thread in here and linked you guys back to it. I'm having major problems with my PC at the moment. It was all working well but it was due for a clean and I had all the files I wanted off the Harddrive so I put in the Windows 7 CD and rebooted the PC. I changed the BIOS so the CD/DVD drive was 1st priority and let it reboot itself. The installation went smooth. I initially had 2 partitions on the Harddrive, I deleted them both and created 2 new partitions and installed Windows onto the smaller one. Everything seemed fine but when I got into Windows I noticed I couldn't set my resolution to the normal dimensions like I always could after a format. I checked Device Manager and under the Display Adapters and Sound Controllers menus there is no sign of my HD4890 and Xtreme Music. I know the HD4890 is working at least because I have the monitor plugged into it and it works but Windows doesn't detect the card at all and is running off the onboard because it's the only choice it has.

I also flashed my BIOS with the latest BIOS update from the Gigabyte website. I've tried formatting again 3 times which made no difference. I've tried removing both cards from the PC and booting it up, turning it off, replacing the cards and booting it up, but Windows still didn't detect either of them.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Series 7 Slate with a 64GB micro-SD, and the Windows 7 running WMP12. It wont recognize my SD card for the Music Library because it is a removable device. On my last tablet, a guy helped me build a shortcut from C drive to read the SD card. It worked well. But I don't know how he did it. The following link tries to explain it, but I can not find anything titled "Disk Management" or "Computer Management" in my Control Panel or Computer menus. The way to do this is to go to a known location on your hard drive C: perhapsand create a folder called Camera Card, or whatever. Then start the Computer Management program (Search the start menu for it) and click on "Disk Management" in the left-hand sidebar. Right click your removable drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Click Add and select "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder". Choose the folder you made earlier (e.g.,C:Camera Card). Now if you look in the C:Camera Card folder you'll see the contents of your SD card. Now, if you right click your new Library you made earlier and add..C:Camera Card to it, it'll work!

Also if anyone can tell me the desired voltage for each RAM slot.
1) Bought a new C-Media 5.1 audio card.
2) Inserts into PCI-slot makes computer auto-start.
3) Windows does not auto install the card, but the drives on the CD works perfectly and the sound is fine. No problems in device manage.
4) But when I shutdown, the computer restats. Happens every time. Have to shutdown manually on the button.
5) Tried a different PCI-slot, but problem persists.
6) Tried temporarily removing the card and windows shuts down as intended.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two computers. One a year old and one brand new. Both are running Windows 7 64 bit and both are running the exact same version of Windows Media Center. On my old computer I have my Windows Media Center TV configured for channel 3 and the cable attached to my internal TV Tuner card. Then, to access different channels I simply use the remote controller that came with my cable company set top box. Never any problems. Now, I am trying for three days to have Windows Media Center set up the TV stations on my new computer.
The device manager is finding the TV Tuner Card that I installed. All the drivers are up to date. I can use WinTV to find and play channels so I know there is signal coming from the cable...the same cable that feeds my old computer...I simply unhooked it and attached it to my new computer. So, it's driving me crazy that each time I try to scan for channels I wait for 10 minutes each time only to get a message at the end saying "no tv stations found" or something like that. What could I possible be doing wrong since everything is the same between the old and the new computer?
I did the Asus live update, soon as i hit ok, one of my usb slots stopped working but the other is working just fine. It makes the noise when you plug in something, but wont work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a program or something to get rid/hide my task bar (I still need to be able to get into the start menu though!). Currently I'm using taskbarelimator, but it sucks to say the least. I've tried multiple programs and haven't found anything real good with the exception of objectdock, it does really good job hiding but it takes a bit of resources compared to the alternatives. I heard about registry editing and I would be open to that if any one has any info on it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there are any possible things I could do to get windows 7 to hide files and folders that start with the character "." (you know like Linux).
I find many windows programs create files that are not hidden but start with ".", and while tecnically this is a problem with the program, almost all of them do this so it would be very nice if windows handled this correctly.
it is possible to stop certain file types from appearing in windows explorer?I'm using Sony Vegas which creates a .sfk file for every clip containing the waveform of any audio. The problem is it's making the folder full of 50+ clips too messy and I can't find the bits I need.I would just hide the files but then if I add more clips to the folder and then Vegas creates another .sfk it's not hidden.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when connecting to a router the host name of my computer is published, along with the mac address.
I am not getting in to mac spoofing here; that is not my intention. I simply generally do not like displaying more information than I must.
When dealing with public access routers (often that have no security and also default admin passwords) I would rather not display such information.
Using ubuntu, it was simple enough to not publish my host name (the mac address is of course still logged).
