I've built Windows 7 32 bit on my Vaio VGN-AR71S, but the memory card slots are missing. I've tried installing fixes but they've not workedAlso the BD/DVD eject button beside the keyboard doesn't work - can this be enabled in Windows 7?
View 6 RepliesI recently upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-AR71S laptop to Windows 7. All went well apart from two issues. My memory card slots no longer show under 'My Computer' and nothing is recognised when I insert a memory card into the slot...and secondly My built in web cam no longer works (although the mic does) Under device manager I have one yellow exclamation mark next to a USB device which I believe is my web cam and another under an unrecognised device which maybe my memory card slots.
I have tried the Sony support site and done a search on the web but so far I haven't found any drivers or solutions to my problem.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW21Z Laptop, i bought it with Windows Vista installed on it but i changed the windows to Windows 7 and now the dvd-rom doesn't work anymore.
I have read on internet that the problem can be from the drivers. I can't find any driver for windows 7 for my dvd-rom.
Windows 7 Not Detecting PCI Slots after Format - Previous thread about this problem, Bare Foot Kid suggested I made a new thread in here and linked you guys back to it. I'm having major problems with my PC at the moment. It was all working well but it was due for a clean and I had all the files I wanted off the Harddrive so I put in the Windows 7 CD and rebooted the PC. I changed the BIOS so the CD/DVD drive was 1st priority and let it reboot itself. The installation went smooth. I initially had 2 partitions on the Harddrive, I deleted them both and created 2 new partitions and installed Windows onto the smaller one. Everything seemed fine but when I got into Windows I noticed I couldn't set my resolution to the normal dimensions like I always could after a format. I checked Device Manager and under the Display Adapters and Sound Controllers menus there is no sign of my HD4890 and Xtreme Music. I know the HD4890 is working at least because I have the monitor plugged into it and it works but Windows doesn't detect the card at all and is running off the onboard because it's the only choice it has.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs the title already says, I'm having problems with my usb slots not working sometimes for my mouse and keyboard, they either stop working for a few seconds and I get the windows "connect/disconnect" sound or they just stop working which can be fixed by repositioning the 2 usb's into a different set of slots. This solution however only works for a while until the same problem occurs again and I have to reboot to get them working again, this problem nearly only occurs with the rear usb slots, it does, however, somethimes affect my front 2 slots where I have a headset plugged in, this is noticeable immediately as any sound heard from the headset is wrong (can't really explain how it changes ). I have already tried uninstalling/updating drivers and turning on legacy support in the BIOS but to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to upgrade my desktop to be usb 3.0 capable. The only option I can see since my motherboard doesn't have any is PCI and PCI-e card adapters. Problem is, I have none available. I expected there to be a version where the usb 3.0 port would connect to a sata port. I don't see any. There are also plenty of USB3.0 etc front bays, but unfortunately these products don't give much info on how these are connected internally.

I did the Asus live update, soon as i hit ok, one of my usb slots stopped working but the other is working just fine. It makes the noise when you plug in something, but wont work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was working on an email Saturday when my Sony Vaio stopped working & flipped over to the black & white Vaio screen. Since then, I've been able to reboot it once, but it flips right back over to the Vaio screen. At one point, I was able to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu by hitting F8. I tried to restore to the last known good configuration. It got to the Windows logo screen, then went back to the Vaio screen, then went to the "Operating System could not be found" screen.The computer has a One Touch Web Access Without Booting Up feature.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?

I can't go onto Control Panel It say's " This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I AM THE ADMIN.. I am the only account too. 2. My Task bar is missing, When i go ctrl-alt-del i see no option to open up my task bar. [FIXED] 3. View 5 Replies View RelatedWin7 64 wont start on a Sony Vaio. It will sometimes get to the desktop and seconds later it shuts down. No logout, just a black screen total shutoff. when restarted the black screen popped up again but this time it was with the message "windows failed to start" and the options were either "launch startup repair" or start windows normally. I chose "launch startup repair".
The startup again goes to the immediate shutdown, more quickly each time it is tried. I have gotten into safe mode and performed a memory and disk check which were ok. It seems to go farther into the startup after it has been shutdown for a while.
I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 x64 on a Vaio VGN-FZ440E. Some of the drivers originally needed for Vista are covered by Windows 7 itself, but I still need solutions for some of the hardware.
The ones I am aware of are as follows: webcam, microphone, Fn keys, other Vaio media buttons, and memory card reader.
Are there Windows 7 x64 drivers at all for these components, and if so where can I find them? If they don't exist, are there any alternatives to get this hardware working?
i have a old laptop model vgn tx17gp. i have looked everywhere for its driver for vista above but i didnt find it. it only has drivers for xp. can you advice me what to do i need the graphic driers i can without the rest

I'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong section... I just got my sony vaio laptop and it has wondows seven on it. I can see the green bar going up and down indicating that my sound is on, but I do not hear anything. Also everytime I try to go to a website it says certificate error and even when I click Proceed to this website it shows no graphics. IS there any way to get rid of that anti virus feature? THE MODEL NUMBER OF MY COMPUTER IS "VPCEB15FX" Also, a fast response is needed. I'm leaving for vacation on the 15th and need this fixed by then.

P.S. I run Windows 7 upgrade Advisor tool and it seems there is no problem with upgrading to windows 7 64 bit and all of my drivers are recognized by it. I wonder is it really possible to have a 64 bit OS in 32 bit CPU?
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590 that has 2 x 64 GB SSD hard disks that are arranged in a RAID 0 config. When installing Windows 7, the files are copied and the computer reboots, but when it reaches 85% on the Completing Installation screen, the laptop will power off. I have checked to make sure that the power adapter is plugged into a working power source, checked the battery, and even opened up the laptop to make sure that the cooling fan is working, but it still shuts off at that point. I have also disabled the RAID and tried running the Windows 7 install off of a USB drive, but it still shuts down at the same point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne day when all my laptops performance was very fast and such, windows failed to start...and 15 16 times in row it failed...My laptop is Sony Vaio VPCF11Z1E btw - i7 8Gb ram bla bla bla basically it has almost top performance hardware. i said ok and removed my personal data with the help of recovery center and using recovery discs i reinstalled w7 (which is home premium btw). Anyway for 2 days it was ok STÄ°LL SLOW but at least managable...but now it takes minimum 5 minutes to start-up.. another 4 minutes to load taskbar , desktop stuff...my antivirus (avira antivirus) keeps shutting down and start up again.. double clicking a file is like 3 minutes to open. and when i try to browse the web (doesn't matter if its chrome opera firefox happens to all) it just not responding ASAP. i mean its brandly new installed windows and its like a billion times slower performance...i dont understand why...i saw people posting messages on forums with same kind of problem and i tried basically EVERYTHÄ°NG i saw as a suggestion..my startup is not full at all ...i turned off the ones that i dont need on startup. i mean nothing can cause any problems..checked everything on task schedule and all that ...even now i've been writing this post over 34 minutes (keeps giving "not responding" for 3 mins and giving me 45 seconds to 1 minute to type).basically its this.
- pressing power button to turn on
- windows logo....now this takes minumum 4 5 minutes
- Welcome screen ....3 - 4 minutes minimum
- desktop bacground screen ..4 to 6 minutes
i mean what the hell i had that process under 2 minutes not 2 3 weeks ago and i just cant get this thing figured.
