Just did clean install from Vista to Windows 7 Professional.
Amongst several problems that I am working through the latest one is this.
Error in Device Manager: Base System Device

Have tried Sony Vaio website support section but can't see anything related to this. ANyone got any ideas?

May 20, 2009i've just installed 7 rc on my little acer one netbook. it seems to be working well. except my device manager is telling me that it cant find drivers for pc bus 4, base system device. any ideas?

No Display & Base System Device Drivers Missing On HP DV9000 Laptop
Sep 3, 2011This morning my HP DV 9000 laptop screen comes up grey with no discerning images. I have an additional monitor attached (for TV) and booted into safe mode with networking and can see the desktop in VGA on separate monitor only.
Looking in Device MGR I have two 'base system devices that need attention. They are not identified as to what they are only PCI Bus 7 device 5 function 3 & PCI bus 7 device 5 function 2.
Win 7 Prem Home 32 bit SP1
Intel 5500 @ 1.66ghz
2GB ram
NVIDIA geoforce 7600
Last night - everything ran fine. Read newspaper online & watch TV on separate monitor. Everything closed down without issue.
Lost Windows Base Filtering Engine
Apr 12, 2012Having received a report from Norton error 5013,3, I have now identified that I have lost Windows Base Filtering Engine from my Windows 7 Home X64 system. Can anyone tell me how I can get this back. With previous versions of Windows, you could simply re-install Windows over the top but my install DVD telle me that it is not compatible with what I now have (probably due to all the various updates etc. Is there not a download which could simply restore the lost feature?

Jul 1, 2012I've tried re-adding the appropriate reg files. I've tried fixing permissions in the registry. I've tried all the cmd line commands. I have no idea how to get this service to run. Because of this the firewall doesn't work. And also i can't open any ports on my router I'm thinking.I've used ccleaner to fix the errors in my registry, as well as sfc /scannow. I was getting some error when trying to use the Windows 7 installation disc to repair windows so I couldn't do that.I'm also not infected with zero acess rootkit becaue these aren't found on my computer.

The laptop were turned off and she turned it on and fingered with it (it turned on and I have a user password to open it.) and when I turned it back on the smart pad didn't work anymore. Phone model no. not identified, but software version is vx560404.
When the phone is connected to the computer, the usb recognition sound is issued, but the "Found New Hardware" message is not displayed nor is the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.
The phone is displayed in Device Manager (LGE CDMA Composite USB Device), and in the Control Panel item Devices and Printers (as LG Mobile Phone, LG Mobile (Modem) and LG Mobile (Serial)). However, it is not displayed in Windows Explorer (trying to transfer photos from phone to computer).
I tried running the Troubleshooter, and a message was displayed that said a problem (not identified) was fixed. Except it wasn't. Restarting the computer did not solve the problem.
