Base System Device Drivers Not Installed
In Device Manger under "Other Devices" there is an entry titled "Base System Device." The message is " The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." Also "pci bus 9, device 3, function 2" appears. Needless to say, the "Update Driver Software" nor the Sony Support Website seem to list any drivers. However, everything seems to work but perhaps I haven't used whatever function this driver runs. I'm running a Sony laptop, Model VGN-FW351J. 2.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 64-bit ready, Multi-core (2 total), Not hyper-threaded.Any suggestions to update (or install) the driver will be greatly appreciated.

Internet Not Working With Toshiba A215-S5837
I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S5837. When Windows 7 was first available for beta I downloaded and installed it. A couple days later I uninstalled, because the internet would refuse to work on any connection, dial up, Ethernet, wireless, etc. When I installed Windows 7 Beta everything worked fine, but the internet. I tried reinstalling drivers for networking hardware and even tried installing Vista drivers.Â

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed After Win 7 Pro 64 Bit Clean Installation
I've just clean installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor (original OS was Vista Ultimate). All appears to have gone well but on checking Device Manager there's a Base System Device entry in Other Devices group which is showing an exclamation mark. On opening this entry it shows "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Clicking Update Driver and searching the Internet fails to locate a driver. I didn't install an Intel chipset after the Win 7 install (this computer is almost 3 years old and Dell haven't provided a chipset for Win 7 so I'm assuming chipset support is included in Win 7 out of the box).Could anyone advise if the above is likely to cause any significant problems?

Mass Storage Controller Driver For Toshiba A215-S4697
I installed Windows 7 Beta without any real issues. When I checked the device manager to make sure all the drivers were installed everything was OK except for the Mass Storage Controller. When I checked the properties for the Mass Storage Controller it showed no drivers installed. I tried pushing Update Driver Button on the Driver Tab page but it was unable to find a driver through Windows Update. Has anybody else encountered this issue? If so, Were you able to fix it?

HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Driver For Base System Device
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion Dv9000 laptop and everything is working really well, but in device manager I have 2 items listed under Other Devices that say Base Sytem Device. I am assuming I need some kind of driver for them, but I am not sure how to tell what they are or what driver they will need. How do I figure this out? If I get the properties of these devices under the general tab I see Device type: Other device, Manufacturer: Unknown, and Location: PCI bus 9, device 9, function 3.

System Image Backup Missing
I have run the "create system image" successfully until today. I have an external HD for that image file. It appears to run, goes through the steps and says it has created the image. But when I go to the external HD and click on the Image file that was created there is nothing there. It shows 0. What could I have done to do this. I even looked for that image file on my C: drive, just in case, but it is not there either.

Bootmgr Is Missing - System Restarts Automatically
I have an Asus Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T6500 @2.10GHZ LAPTOP. I am a basic computer user and simply tried to upgrade to Windows 7 because when I purchased the computer in August it came with a free upgrade. I performed the upgrade check and folllowed the Windows 7 sugestions. I hit the upgrade button and 2.5 hours later things were going fine. The last step was approx 50% finished (Trasferring files, drives, etc.) The system retstarted automatically and I received the Bootmgr is missing. I went on the forum and found a sugestion to Boot from the DVD. I tried this and it worked. System rebboted fine. Got a message to repair or revover. I repaired the start up. That worked and now the computer starts from its own hard drive. After startup, "starting windows", I see wa window that says Setup is starting services and then I get a window box that says, "Th computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. When I hit ok, the computer restarts and I eventually circle back to this screen. Do I need to initiate something to restart the installation?

Can't Install Because Critical System Driver Is Missing Or Corrupt
I've just acquired Windows 7 Professional and wanted to install it now, formatting my HDD during setup (I'm currently running XP Professional). However, when I boot from the DVD, I get the Starting Windows screen and then the Boot Manager screen opens with the error message: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. A critical system driver is missing or corrupt. File: Windowssystem32DRIVERSadp94xx.sys" Tried to google it, but all I found was that it's an Adaptec driver for the Windows Kernel and that's is a Vista related problem as well. same problem when starting Windows 7 (though he had already installed it), but fixed it by disabling driver signature enforcment. This, though, didn't work for me. And I sure didn't have any hardware or software changes, especially since I didn't even install it yet. Because I couldn't. btw, when I try to install it from XP, it seems to work fine. Stopped the progress though, don't want to have 2 OS. Any ideas? More information needed?

I have 2 WD SATA 300gb drives installed however am installing Win7 on a old WD (reformatted) 80gb IDE drive. Any ideas?

Dual Boot - Config / System Is Missing Or Corrupt Message
I have an Acer Aspire one. It came with XP and I have it dual booting into Windows 7 which is working well which I installed from a USB Drive as this model doesnt have a CD Drive. In the main boot screen it says "Earlier version of Windows" For XP and "Windows 7" for windows 7. All was working well until yesterday... Now I can't boot into "Earlier version of Windows" i.e. XP. It gives me the C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt message. I can boot into Windows 7 fine but all of my work stuff is on the XP platform (I know I can access the files from "7" but I need to get it operational again). Any ideas? Can I do a repair from the USB Drive?..I've tried a couple of things to boot from the USB Drive but to no avail. And I can't find the BOOT.INI file from XP (I think it gets moved to Windows 7's hidden boot partition when I installed it. I cant seem to access that partition either).
