I recently had to reinstall windows 7 (64 bit) on my Sony Vaio (VGN-NW125J). I have a little ! on my Base System Device driver (shown below). If I try to have it find the driver it says no such driver found. I went to Sony's website and tried to find it.. didn't have any luck.

Just did clean install from Vista to Windows 7 Professional.

They are listed under other drivers and when I look at the properties there is no information given as to what its for.The first two say base system device and the third one says coprocessor. None of them can be updated from the manager because it cannot find the drivers online. I believe the first two have to do with nvidea but everytime I try to download the driver it does not work. I have a 3 Tera HDD. (WD My Book Essential (USB 3.0)). Last night I uninstalled a software which I do not remember its name by mistake. Apparently it was related to my WD hard drive for my computer does not recognize it anymore. I checked my device manager; "Base System Device" is not recognized. I ran windows troubleshooting. It says "Base System Device" Driver is not found. I searched a lot, but I couldn't find the driver. I also ran drive checker software.
It says:

I could not find this too. I also have another portable WD which is still recognized by my computer.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on an Acer Aspire 4935G laptop.
This morning my HP DV 9000 laptop screen comes up grey with no discerning images. I have an additional monitor attached (for TV) and booted into safe mode with networking and can see the desktop in VGA on separate monitor only.
Looking in Device MGR I have two 'base system devices that need attention. They are not identified as to what they are only PCI Bus 7 device 5 function 3 & PCI bus 7 device 5 function 2.

Intel 5500 @ 1.66ghz
2GB ram
NVIDIA geoforce 7600
Last night - everything ran fine. Read newspaper online & watch TV on separate monitor. Everything closed down without issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a Sony Vaio VGN-NS190J. I have gone to the Sony site and downloaded and installed all drivers, etc. Everything works great and there are no errors in Device Manager, but the audio device does not show up. When I go to Sound Properties it shows No Audio Device Installed. I downloaded both versions of the audio drivers from the Sony site, both Realtek drivers, and when I run them the install starts, I click few a few screens to start the install and I get the box saying it's checking the system and installing. The box then just closes and it never installs. I even connected to a Sony tech who took control and tried to fix it but was not successful. They said it must be a hardware problem. The sound was working fine on Vista before I upgraded to Win 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSony Vaio VPCEB25FG- motion eye webcam doesn't exist anywhere in the Device Manager - not under Imaging Devices, Sony Visual Communication Camera or Unknown Devices. It does not appear anywhere. The laptop does have a graphics card and I have the ATI driver running - I don't know if it a related issue though.The laptop also came with Arcsoft Wecam companion software and the webcam used to work perfectly fine with it.I don't know what has changed but now when I start this software, it comes up as the trail period for this software has expired. Surely, this software will not make the camera disappear all together from the device manager. All methods of re-installing the driver are useless for me because I can't even see the device.
