"The driver for Base System Device is not installed. Install the latest driver for the device."

This is message I'm getting. I can find 3 "Base System Device" in Device Manager, but I have no idea what devices they are so I can't search for drivers.

Here are the Hardware Ids if that's any help

HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Driver For Base System Device
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion Dv9000 laptop and everything is working really well, but in device manager I have 2 items listed under Other Devices that say Base Sytem Device.  I am assuming I need some kind of driver for them, but I am not sure how to tell what they are or what driver they will need.  How do I figure this out?

If I get the properties of these devices under the general tab I see Device type: Other device, Manufacturer: Unknown, and Location: PCI bus 9, device 9, function 3.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed
In Device Manger under "Other Devices" there is an entry titled "Base System Device." The message is " The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." Also "pci bus 9, device 3, function 2" appears. Needless to say, the "Update Driver Software" nor the Sony Support Website seem to list any drivers.

However, everything seems to work but perhaps I haven't used whatever function this driver runs. I'm running a Sony laptop, Model VGN-FW351J. 2.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 64-bit ready, Multi-core (2 total), Not hyper-threaded.Any suggestions to update (or install) the driver will be greatly appreciated.

ACER Aspire 5920G Laptop Drivers
Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but any pointers would be hugely appreciated! I'm running an ACER Aspire 5920G laptop, which comes with Vista 32-bit installed. I'd really like to give the Windows 7 RC candidate a try, but don't want to screw anything up!

I'm going to add a new partition so I can dual-boot the existing OS with the new one, but my major concerns come from ensuring the hardware works acceptably. The graphics chipset in the 5920G is a Radeon 3470 HD Mobility, and I keep it up to date under Vista using the Mobility Modifier software. Will the same modified drivers work fine with Windows 7 RC? (I'm hoping that there might be someone on this board who's been in a similar position).

Also (and this isn't quite on the topic of drivers), the laptop has 4gb of RAM installed - is it worth using a 64-bit version of Windows 7 RC, or does that complicate matters unnecessarily?

Acer Aspire Laptop Install Lissue
I have installed 7 build 7000 64 bit on my Acer Aspire laptop I have installed 7 build 7048 32 bit on a Compaq desktop Both are installed and working well. Using the same install DVDs I have tried to install either of these builds on my main machine but can not. My machine: Vista Home Premium; Athlon 64 x2 4200, nVidia Gforce 7300GT, 4 GB DDR memory.

Neither will install.  Booting from the DVD they load the Windows files, then freeze at the blue screen with the build details on, and a cursor. Trying to install from Vista both report "System can not install on this version of the Operating System try booting from the install media"

I copied the DVD contents to the HD, opened in Explorer, click on 'Setup.exe' and get the message "This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows" If this carries on I won't even be able to install the retail version when it appears!    Has anybody else had this problem?

Install On Acer Aspire 5310 Laptop
I got tired of waiting for Vista to boot up and shut down, so I've just finished setting up Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 5310 laptop. I can only applaud the quality of the beta once again as it managed to install every single device, including my wired and wireless network adapters. I was able to log in to my WPA2 wireless before the installer was even completely finished! On top of that the laptop boots up and shuts down within 30 seconds as opposed to the 2 or 3 minutes it took on Vista.

CPU: Intel Celeron M 520 (1.6 Ghz, 533 Mhz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
HD: Toshiba 80 GB
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Memory: 1 GB DDR 2
O/S: Windows 7 32-bits

Running it on full visual details is asking just a bit too much of the on-board graphics accelerator, but tweaking it down a bit or reverting to the Windows Classic theme makes it run like a dream again. It's highly responsive, loads programs in a flash and completely destroys the Vista installation that still disgraced the system the day before! It consumes about 50% less of my system resources and even my WEI score has gone up with approximately 50%.

Running Vista and you have a spare partition, system or laptop catching dust somewhere? Install Windows 7. Do it. Now. Your mother would be proud of you.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed After Win 7 Pro 64 Bit Clean Installation
I've just clean installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor (original OS was Vista Ultimate). All appears to have gone well but on checking Device Manager there's a Base System Device entry in Other Devices group which is showing an exclamation mark. On opening this entry it shows "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Clicking Update Driver and searching the Internet fails to locate a driver.

I didn't install an Intel chipset after the Win 7 install (this computer is almost 3 years old and Dell haven't provided a chipset for Win 7 so I'm assuming chipset support is included in Win 7 out of the box).Could anyone advise if the above is likely to cause any significant problems?

Increasing ACER Aspire 5100 Laptop Memory From 1GB To 2 G
I have Windows 7 RC1 installed on an ACER Aspire 5100 Laptop, together with Windows XP. I increased the memory by replacing the existing two 512 m 'sticks' with two 1 gig 'sticks'. The XP os recognized the increase in memory from 1 gig to 2, but the Windows 7 RC1 did not (still indicates 1 gig). Can anyone give me info as to whether there is a 'switch' to activate in Windows 7 RC1 for it to recognize the increase in memory?

WiFi Driver - Acer Aspire 1800
I have an Acer Aspire 1800 that I installed Windows 7 RC onto. I was completely impressed with the ease of the installation and how it seemed to find a driver for everything on my laptop. Well almost everything. Apparently the Os can't find a driver for my wifi and the manufacturer doesn't seem to want to help.

Has anyone else used this particular laptop and ahd any luck? I hate that the only thing not having a driver in the Device Manager is the WiFi.
