Base System Device Drivers Not Installed
In Device Manger under "Other Devices" there is an entry titled "Base System Device." The message is " The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." Also "pci bus 9, device 3, function 2" appears. Needless to say, the "Update Driver Software" nor the Sony Support Website seem to list any drivers.

However, everything seems to work but perhaps I haven't used whatever function this driver runs. I'm running a Sony laptop, Model VGN-FW351J. 2.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 64-bit ready, Multi-core (2 total), Not hyper-threaded.Any suggestions to update (or install) the driver will be greatly appreciated.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed After Win 7 Pro 64 Bit Clean Installation
I've just clean installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor (original OS was Vista Ultimate). All appears to have gone well but on checking Device Manager there's a Base System Device entry in Other Devices group which is showing an exclamation mark. On opening this entry it shows "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Clicking Update Driver and searching the Internet fails to locate a driver.

I didn't install an Intel chipset after the Win 7 install (this computer is almost 3 years old and Dell haven't provided a chipset for Win 7 so I'm assuming chipset support is included in Win 7 out of the box).Could anyone advise if the above is likely to cause any significant problems?

HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Driver For Base System Device
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion Dv9000 laptop and everything is working really well, but in device manager I have 2 items listed under Other Devices that say Base Sytem Device.  I am assuming I need some kind of driver for them, but I am not sure how to tell what they are or what driver they will need.  How do I figure this out?

If I get the properties of these devices under the general tab I see Device type: Other device, Manufacturer: Unknown, and Location: PCI bus 9, device 9, function 3.

I have run the "create system image" successfully until today. I have an external HD for that image file. It appears to run, goes through the steps and says it has created the image. But when I go to the external HD and click on the Image file that was created there is nothing there. It shows 0. What could I have done to do this. I even looked for that image file on my C: drive, just in case, but it is not there either.

Bootmgr Is Missing - System Restarts Automatically
I have an Asus Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T6500 @2.10GHZ LAPTOP. I am a basic computer user and simply tried to upgrade to Windows 7 because when I purchased the computer in August it came with a free upgrade.

I performed the upgrade check and folllowed the Windows 7 sugestions. I hit the upgrade button and 2.5 hours later things were going fine. The last step was approx 50% finished (Trasferring files, drives, etc.)

The system retstarted automatically and I received the Bootmgr is missing. I went on the forum and found a sugestion to Boot from the DVD. I tried this and it worked. System rebboted fine. Got a message to repair or revover. I repaired the start up. That worked and now the computer starts from its own hard drive.

After startup, "starting windows", I see wa window that says Setup is starting services and then I get a window box that says, "Th computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.

When I hit ok, the computer restarts and I eventually circle back to this screen.

Do I need to initiate something to restart the installation?

Can't Install Because Critical System Driver Is Missing Or Corrupt
I've just acquired Windows 7 Professional and wanted to install it now, formatting my HDD during setup (I'm currently running XP Professional). However, when I boot from the DVD, I get the Starting Windows screen and then the Boot Manager screen opens with the error message: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. A critical system driver is missing or corrupt.

File: Windowssystem32DRIVERSadp94xx.sys" Tried to google it, but all I found was that it's an Adaptec driver for the Windows Kernel and that's is a Vista related problem as well.

same problem when starting Windows 7 (though he had already installed it), but fixed it by disabling driver signature enforcment. This, though, didn't work for me. And I sure didn't have any hardware or software changes, especially since I didn't even install it yet. Because I couldn't. btw, when I try to install it from XP, it seems to work fine. Stopped the progress though, don't want to have 2 OS. Any ideas? More information needed?

Failed To Load Because A Critical System Driver Is Missing Or Corrupt
I've downloaded the official 7000 release twice, burned 2 different DVD's, and installed Win7 twice but it has yet to work. It seems to install fine but then gets confused after it restarts. After I've started installing it goes through the first reboot and then it never boots into Win7."Starting Windows" comes on the screen and then the Boot Manager screen opens with the "Windows failed to start.

A recent hardware or software change might be the cause..." message. Depending on which install i select from the bootloader I get one of 2 driver errors:File:

Windowssystem32DRIVERSlsi_fc.sysorFile: Windowssystem32DRIVERSadp94xx.sys

I've got an Abit AV8 MB. I have 2 WD SATA 300gb drives installed however am installing Win7 on a old WD (reformatted) 80gb IDE drive. Any ideas?

Dual Boot - Config / System Is Missing Or Corrupt Message
I have an Acer Aspire one. It came with XP and I have it dual booting into Windows 7 which is working well which I installed from a USB Drive as this model doesnt have a CD Drive.

In the main boot screen it says "Earlier version of Windows" For XP and "Windows 7" for windows 7. All was working well until yesterday...

Now I can't boot into "Earlier version of Windows" i.e. XP. It gives me the C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt message. I can boot into Windows 7 fine but all of my work stuff is on the XP platform (I know I can access the files from "7" but I need to get it operational again).

Any ideas? Can I do a repair from the USB Drive?..I've tried a couple of things to boot from the USB Drive but to no avail. And I can't find the BOOT.INI file from XP (I think it gets moved to Windows 7's hidden boot partition when I installed it. I cant seem to access that partition either).

Reinstall Win 7, Many Missing Drivers
With the help of MS Tech Support on the phone [got right through!] he explained how to get rid of all my annoying partitiions. So, both drives were wiped out and made into single primary partitions.

I then installed Vista but had problems with a few of the drivers. A couple of them failed, but they were like 'touchpad' and such. Nothing that I saw as critical.

The minute Vista was complete, I custom installed Win 7 and it went well, execpt that it did say it could not find some drivers--of course, it did NOT say WHICH drivers! It just says, driver missing, click to browse or install.

I have no idea which one, or where it is.

So, rebooted to Win 7 and a few issues:

1: it knows the second hard drive is present and working, but it does not show in My Computer or Explorer. That is my biggest issue.

2: I have been installing second monitors on many machines for years, but this time, Win 7 can't seem to find my large moniitor. It worked before with Vista and it worked before with the first insall of Win 7.

It says missing drivers in the screen shots, but are these Vista drivers it wants? Or Win 7 drivers?

HP L2000 Notebook Missing Drivers
I just did a Win7 x64 RTM clean install on my HP L2000 notebook. After install and auto update (it updated my display and network driver) I still do not have drivers for "mass storage controller", "multimedia audio controller" and "PCI modem".

HP does not have any Vista x64 drivers on their web site. The HP docs indicate that these are "TI media card reader", "Conexant CX20408-31 AC97" and "Conexant CX20493-58" devices. Real drivers on Windows Update would be really nice! Please respond if you know where genuine x64 drivers are available.

Installation Missing DVD Drivers
I downloaded and burnt a copy of the windows 7 RC on to a DVD so i could install Windows 7. However, when just before i start the install, the win 7 installer tells me i am missing drivers for my cd/dvd drive and refuses to continue installation, but i am sure that I have installed the drivers. when i update drivers in win xp (current os), i am told that the best drivers are already installled. what happened is this:

1. download win 7 RC and burn to DVD (completed)

2. Boot PC from Win 7 DVD (completed)

3. Installer starts and loads screen with button saying "Install"

4. I click install button.

5. Installer start looking for drivers then tells me i am missing drivers for the DVD drive.

6. dialoge pops up saying "insert disk with appropiate drivers". This is as far as it gets, because every disc i try apparently does no have the required drivers.

Ive tried the CD which came with DVD drive, ive tried the MSI mother board CD for both xp and vist, Ive tried the WIN xp sp2 cd, none of them work. What i would like to do is install win 7 on the empty partition on my external usb hard drive, so then i will have a dual boot system.

Win XP is my current os and i built my PC myself. also my dvd drive is sata. Ive got an msi Micro atx mother board with an AMD Phenom 3ghz quad core.

Drivers Missing Since Win7 RTM
I have a dell laptop successfully running Win7 RCx64 with blue tooth, paired with my plantronics BT Stereo Headset. Everything runs ok.

I have a 2nd machine a Dell Vostro 200, with a clean install of Win7RTMx64, install the BT dongle and it finds and installs the drivers for the dongle. I try to pair it with my Stereo BT headset (it was not paired with the Laptop at this time) and it can't find the A2DP - Stereo Drivers, The mono headset or mic, or the AVRCP drivers.

I have a 3d computer - Acer One netbook. On this computer when it was running Win7RCx86 it used the SAME USB BT Dongle and did connect to the headphones ok, after downloading the correct drivers from Windows Update. I have updated this netbook to Win7RTMx86, plug the USB BT dongle and it DOES recognize, download, and install the drivers for the DONGLE only. It can't find the drivers to download for the BT Stereo headset.  It worked ok in RC, fails in RTM. I am thinking that the drivers are not up for RTM at this point.

On my dell, I have a copy of Win7RCx64 running inside a VMWARE Workstation 6.5 setup and running ok. As a check I attach the BT dongle to the VM, it loads the drivers and does recognize BT dongle, but when I try to pair the headset I now get the same error, there are no drivers to install and checking the windows update for new drivers fails.

HMMM I try copying the file  BTHAV.SYS from the Dell's C:WindowsSystem32Drivers to the VM's C:WindowsSystem32Drivers as that is the only file missing between the two installs and manually pointing it there, but that does't work. I just don't know enough to manually install the drivers.

All the missing components do have in common that they are from CSR, plc as a provider.   I am trying to reproduce the driver details screen in text, as I can't attach a jpg.

Provider:         CSR, plc

File version:     3.0.0.183built by WinDDK

Copyright:       Copyright (c) 2008 CSR, plc

Digital Signer:   Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility

Are all/some the windows update drivers not available at this time as they get recompiled for RTM?  Not enough server capability as everyone switches to the RTM and Win7 is just silently failing to update?

I had great driver support for the Beta/RC - everything I tried simply worked.  Now at RTM it is failing?  At this point the failure seems to be at point where I try to download the correct drivers from Microsoft, and that I can not fix on my this end.
