As per the title, I'd like to schedule multiple backup jobs; I don't see how to do this with Windows 7's built-in backup utility.
I have copied NTBACKUP and it's two associated .dll's from an XP box to my Windows 7 system; ntbackup runs if activated manually but scheduled tasks don't run.
I'm using Win 7 Pro and want to schedule several backups to my NAS. With Win XP, I was able to schedule multiple backup jobs, which makes things easier since I have 116 GB of data. I like to backup my documents, email files, etc. every week, but my photos, MP3s, etc. don't change as frequently so once a month is fine for that. Not surprisingly, the media collection takes much longer to backup, which is another reason I try to separate it from my "regular" backup.Unfortunately, Win 7 backup only seems to allow one backup job to be scheduled, which seems awfully limited. Am I missing something? Are there other free backup utilities that would work better, or do I need to shell out some cash?
i want to have my normal backup, which is a backup of the user files on the d drive to my backup drive (drive X), now i also want to add another backup schedule, so i can backup my pictures specifically to a 4th hard drive, in this case drive drive H.
how would i add this 2nd backup on windows? is this possible? should i be looking for task manager? so far i have tried but cant find any options as access through Action Center Backup.
I am trying to determine what the use of the backup section of the Back up and Restore screen is for. Is it just for doing file backup or is it intended to be used also for Full System Image backups also?
Will the computer automatically resume from sleep when Run backup on a schedule is set at a time when the computer is sleeping or do we have to tweak the task scheduler?
I managed to do a drive image that also included my storage drive on an internal 1TB SATA drive. This, however, was the only one I was able to do. When I tried to run backup a second time, it would start, but then completely hang with only the occasional HD light blink. I stopped the backup, but it never said the back up stopped. I then tried to shut down and it got as far as saying it was shutting down, but never actually did. I had to power down. I tried a second time and the results were the same. Not even an entry in log files.
I finally gave up on Backup My PC and went to Win 7 backup, but my external drive does not hold more than 2 backup cycles' worth of data. I'd like to use excess space (in a separate partition) on a 2 TB internal drive to offload some backups, but I can find no way of doing this.
Just started setting up my backups with Comodo but suddenly realized that seemingly no name is associated with a backup. In my case I trying to create the following backups:
1. critical files: full/each-Sun 2. critical files: Inc/daily 3. studio files: full/1st-each-month 4. studio files: Inc/each-Sat 5. resource files: full/15-each-month and so on...
But is it possible to create multiple backups using Comodo?? Or, am I just changing the full and Inc backups over and over again! How, for instance, can I check and/or change my 'critical files' backup?I have almost a T-Byte of data (I do 3D animation) which is why I like to breakup my backups.
Ive got a desk top pc with printer connected and working.
When connecting my laptop vis cable network through my dsl router, I can see and "add network printer", but all my printing jobs get hung, cant even delete them. Have to reboot all pc's to clear the hanging files, which allows the very same "hung" printer job then to print.
I'm sure the desktop is having a network or user id problem, any suggestions?
In case you didn't already get the memo, Dream Machine 2011 is going to be unleashed on the world at the beginning of next week. We've given you some hints so far about what you'll find in this years rig, but we haven't given out any specific spoilers so far. Well, since you've all been so patient, we'll give you the first one right now: Dream Machine 2011 has an unbelievably kick-ass custom paint job. What's it look like? Who did it? You'll have to wait to find that out, but for now we're going to tease you with 30 amazing custom paint jobs we found around the web. One last thing: one of the paintshops whose work is featured in this gallery did Dream Machine 2011--can you guess which one?.
We have been having some odd printing issues. It only happens when there are people in the building. It spits out random Office files. I have checked for viruses and spyware with four different software packages. When I look on our SBS 2008 server only one page is printed but is still an MS Office document. The really odd thing is that it is almost always a random Office template. Any ideas? Microsoft told me that they had never seen or heard of this. And this was from the developers
Since I got my new computer with win7pro 64bit...... I've had an intermittent problem which is that when printing mostly from word2010(use this for 98% of printing) the print job will restart in the middle of the job(I print from 300 to 50,000 page jobs 99% are mail merges)
PRINTER: SAVIN 9060(using the RCPS driver - because of the overlay capability)
I've watched the print que while merging/spooling/printing and it never does it as it is spooling/printing only after it is done spooling and it is VERY, VERY random
my SAVIN IT TECH(they could not re-create the problem on another win7pro 64bit computer) and I thought it could be the product of using older version word .docs.....so I starting converting them to word2010 .docs and it was still doing it so then I started re-typesetting some starting from scratch with a word 2010 .doc and still have the problem but still very random
In the print que it will say: printing 3/2,500 then it will say Error-Printing the printer pauses then it will just start over spooling/printing from the beginning again
before new computer I was running winxp pro.....word2000 with no problems at all
How can you schedule your Windows 7 to wake up or turn on on a specific time.eg. my IDM starts work at 1am. i sleep before 12. I dont want to waste energy to keep my computer fully on this whole hour (electricity is expensive here).I've tried to schedule it, but it keeps failing. I dont know why.
I've been having a problem where svchost.exe is using 25% of my CPU (X4 630) and 1GB+ of RAM.I tracked this down to the Schedule service but still don't know why it's happening. The Tasks that run (in case someone happens to know that one of these is known to cause this problem) are:Calibration LoaderCleanMem Mini Monitor GoogleUpdateTaskUser HotStart MsCtfMonitor MSIAfterburner QueueReporting RacTask RealUpgradeLogonTask SystemSoundService SystemTask UserTask
I accidentally clicked on schedule chkdsk and I do not want to spend hours waiting so How would I disable it, what does this mean in "regedit": Autocheck autochk/r??c:autocheck autochk* and I want to change it so it can act they way before when I clicked on schedule chkdsk
brief, I have a PC that runs Windows 7 (obviously) and I'd like to choose when to automatically download updates rather than having to download them by myself. But I'm finding no option for that, all I can find as settings in Windows update are :Install updates automatically. (Which means they're gonna be downloaded at anytime and I don't want this to happen.)Download updates but let me choose when to install them. (Same here)Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them. (Here, I will have to download them manually by hitting download)
I'm having difficulties scheduling a task for when computer is idle. What I want to do is run a task after the computer has been idle for five minutes. I've tried creating a scheduled task in different ways, which will do this, but to no avail.I go to Task scheduler to create a task:
General Tab Give the task a name, put the check box to run with the highest priv., and configure it for Win 7. Triggers Tab New, Begin the task on idle, Repeat task for 15 minutes indefinitely, Enabled. Action Tab
[code]....
Now from what I can gather from this is that every 15 minutes, the computer will run the task if the computer stays idle for 5 minutes. Say, I start the computer and leave it like that, then the task should run after 5 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, it will once again start checking to run the task.
I'm having an issue with a Windows 7 Enterprise client. It has the configs for the WSUS server applied it shows in the WSUS console. However this particular machine appears not to be updating according to the set schedule, but a manual update will work.
I already know how to schedule CCleaner application cleaner to run automatically and have done so in my system. To schedule CCleaner's registry cleaner to run automatically?
if windows 7 has a built-in feature that allows a program to exit automatically, let's say, every 5pm at night.
I know that there's a scheduler to start a program, but not sure if it works to turn off a program? The reason I want to know is that I sometimes forget to log off my MSN, YM, Gtalk, etc from my workplace.
I have created a task that is suppose to launch Goldmine every day at a set time. The task appears to have launched successfully, ie Task Scheduler reports "The operation completed successfully." However I know it isn't actually launching. When I run the task manually the application never launches, when I check Task Manager the gmw.exe process is running but the application never opens, nor does it show in the application tab of Task Manager but whenthe task completes (Goldmine is set to shut down after 5 minutes) the task then reports as stated above. The Actions tab is set to "Start a program" and the path is the UNC path to the exe on my GM server.Security options are "Run whether user is logged on or not" and "Run with highest priveleges", the user account is a Domain Admin.
i am looking for instructions to setup a new task. I haven't used the schedule manager before, but if your clear on explanations, I am an IT Technical Support - so I'll know what your talking about...I want to be able to setup a new task in which..When I go through my 'External Hard Drive' (browsing through folders) when I open a specific folder, I want a windows notification to appear on the screen with a message.I have been browsing through the commands for a few hours now and am unsure which option to select and how to properly set this up.
In my office , a program to launch we need to deleted the contents of the folderC: users >local> app data > isolated stoarge > Delete Contentsow can i schedule this Task . so no need to go to every system and delete this files automatically.
I need to replace a RunOnce procedure from XP. Using it with Win 7 is interrupted with UAC prompts which is an unacceptable option and disabling UAC within our environment is not an option. I am attempted to replace the process with Task Scheduler. However, I only want this to run when a new user logs on to the PC. I am open to other suggestions if this cant be accomplished through Task Scheduler, but the solution can only run when a new profile is created.
I want to schedule automatic login on Windows 7 with username and password at a certain time. Here is the scenario, the user was logged in but then locked the computer overnight. He wants to schedule the computer to be logged back in Windows state automatically without touching the computer while the login step needs username and password. Can we do this and how?
